    Hello, again. Don't post for a month,then 2 in 1 day.
Quick question. Just done a vent hat,tea cosy type. Can I put ribbon through the holds or not? Can't get my crochet chain to lie straight:o.
    ilovetea x

I would think ribbon would be fine ilovetea. Why is your crochet chain playing up? Did it get twisted while you were making it? Have had some teething troubles with my crochet ripple blanket but think it's all sorted now. I hope!

    K2tog,
Not sure what was wrong with my chrochet chain Didn't want to play fair:rotfl:.I'll win in the end though,a bit of wool isn't going to get the better of me:D.I only do granny squares so a long chain is a first for me.Doing a ripple blanket is a no-no for me :oeven though they do look lovely

  • My update:

    1 cardi
    1 bunting

    and my mum has made:

    1 pair bootees
    1 pair mittens

I'm currently knitting a lacey cardi which is so complicated that I keep having to unpick it - either that or stop watching TV at the same time! :rotfl:

Hi everyone. A bit late on here because I had to go out early this morning. Thanks for all your updates.

Always Poor - I always try and avoid complicated patterns when I'm watching TV! It's so easy to make a mistake when you're distracted, isn't it?

Kinsey - I'm only finding treasures because I'm still unpacking boxes from when we moved in March! Some of the boxes had not been unpacked since the move before, either, so it's been like being let loose in a wool shop for me this week! It's great to find it all because wool is thin on the ground and very expensive here, so I have enough to last for ages - although I know I'll still be shopping for more when I come back to the UK on my next visit!

Well, I need to get some proper work done this morning, and some ironing if I can - that never goes away, does it?

Hope everyone is well and having a good day.

Well done helyg :j Did you enjoy doing it? I think they're quite relaxing after the base is out of the way!
ilovetea, I started trying to do a large granny square instead of the ripple but I just can't get them very neat. I need to practice more! I'm using yarn with a good wool content for this and have noticed the difference it makes - the stitches are much more defined and it actually looks more like attic24 stitches! Lucy, the lady on there seems to use really good quality yarn and great colours and her stuff looks amazing. I definitely can't run to expensive yarn the whole time but it has made a nice change.
I also splurged on a new gadget - I have been doing some large squares in a dark colour and was struggling in the evenings (must be getting old ) so I have bought a hook with a light in it. It is really useful with dark yarn but a bit blinding if you twist the hook the wrong way :D. I definitely recommend it now the evenings are getting soooo dark, and it was only about 4 pounds.

    Hey everyone,
    How are you all ?
We have had a busy morning, but the good news is that the car passed it's MOT and is now taxed for the next year :). A slight dent in the savings a/c, and the mattress is coming tomorrow so that will be another dent! Never mind it's all good :).
Managed to get some nice green wool for my mini stockings today, and also a nice dark blue/green mix wool which might make something a bit masculine (not sure what yet).
Been doing housework/cooking all afternoon and hoping to knit later/tomorrow while waiting for mattress too.
Anyway, loving reading all your news/updates and keep well folks.

    Afternoon everyone :hello:

I meant to come back in yesterday but got side-tracked by wool....knew I should'nt have gone into attic24 .....
I have decided to do another ripple blanket in nice bright colours tempered with a few pastels and a couple of darker ones, it took ages to sort the colours into blocks that I liked.
I have done a smallish piece to see how it goes, have also unpicked it a few times when I got the colours wrong, but I had a lovely time working away surrounded in wool and watching a film, with regular supplies of liquids ;) and a biscuit now and again from OH....can't remember when I have felt so relaxed.

Thank you all for the very nice comments on "my boys" they are cute are'nt they. Will do a couple more as I want to send them to Elaine and Shelley along with the hedgies for the postage fund stall's.

    Will update next

    Well done, Helyg!

K2tog - your hook with the light sounds great. When I was taught to do granny squares many summers ago, I was told to always start the new colour in a different corner to the one you finished the old colour at - it keeps it a true square. It really does work! I think the yarn you use does make a difference; Attic 24's Lucy uses top quality stuff (Rowan yarns, usually) but, as you say, it's so expensive. I've picked some up in charity shops occasionally. Having said that, I think the budget-priced yarns these days are excellent value for money, and there's always a good choice of colours and thicknesses. Here, in France, the knitters would be delighted to find 100gms of DK for less than a euro!

Well, I was happily (well, not happily) getting on with the ironing but DH is plastering in an awkward corner, so I've had to be on hand to hand things up to him. I was hoping to get an hour's crocheting done this afternoon, but that has held me up, and now I still have some ironing to get done!
