I have almost completed a Pudsey Bear from the new Simply Knitting mag I got on Saturday. It is a pale yellow as I had some leftover wool (from last Easter's chicks!) but I got some brighter yellow to make more with when I was in town.

I will try to add a pic when I'm done.

Well done helyg :j Did you enjoy doing it? I think they're quite relaxing after the base is out of the way!

Didn't enjoy doing the base, I knitted it and am not happy with it TBH, may try a crochet replacement. But I was amazed at how quick knitting the rest of it was!

    Hi everyone,

not been in for a couple of days and you've all been so busy.
I've just spent ages looking through all the patterns of the links posted and now there's even more i want to do. My list is getting very long.

Apollonia -Is pudsey easy to do? I was going to buy that magazine today but opted for Lets Knit this week, will get the other one next week. Couldn't justify £10 on magazines in one day.

Well I'm about half way through the body of the bee I'm knitting and I'm getting bored as it's just plain knit and purl and it's taking soooo long. Still at least I don't have to concentrate too much and can watch telly at the same time.;)

ISOM - Glad Isoke is settling in well, sounds like you were made for each other. Hope the op went well for your friends son.:A
Pippa - I love your penguins they are brilliant.:T

Well must get on with dinner, doesn't cooking get in the way?
    Big hugs to you all.x

    Hello all!

Just started a new project - a jumper to fit 24" chest in some left over Snowflake DK. I have 3 balls of blue so I'll do the back and front first and if it looks as though I'm running out I've a couple of balls of grey that I can do the sleeves in.
The Lewis Trust - a local charity raising funds by selling donated furniture - has appealed for knits for 0-4 year olds which will be sent to Africa.
They also collect knits for 0-6 year olds and blankets which all go to an orphanage in Belarus, but the next lorry isn't until easter as far as I know so that can wait awhile, although I did take my blanket in the other day as they have a bit more storage space than I do!

K2Tog - where did you get your clever crochet hook with light - it sounds really good?

I am continuing to practice my crochet stitches by making squares - hopefully they will be good enough to make into a blanket at some point - not sure exactly what I am doing but it is looking quite good!

ISOM - hope that all goes well for your godson (or friend's son?) when he has his operation.

    Well done, Helyg!

K2tog - your hook with the light sounds great. When I was taught to do granny squares many summers ago, I was told to always start the new colour in a different corner to the one you finished the old colour at - it keeps it a true square. It really does work!

Was just thinking about this top tip Kathy and then realised that I really don't know how to join colours in properly :o. Need to spend time with one of May's crochet tutorials I think! Also need to decide on a granny arrangement and stick to it as have been doing a lot of surfing and along with reading a thread about ch1 or ch2 along side bits on LH, I have possibly confused myself - easily done .
Pippa, can I book your DH? Drinks and biscuits - he sounds great. Don't want to book yours though Kathy, too demanding with all that plastering :rotfl:
Edit to say - Got my hook at my local wool shop but have googled and found them here

helyg, me too - just finished my first boob, having borrowed some "nipple-coloured" wool from work.

I might just sew it up and stuff it, just to see what it looks like (mind you, DH might get over-excited...)

Also just finished an angel pocket - can I just ask: is it meant to be sewn up through the yf k2tog holes (ie wrong sides together) or do you just ignore them and sew it up right sides together? I get that the top bit needs to be crocheted through those holes, but I can't really see from the photograph what wants to be done with the bottom bit. Hope that makes sense... :D

Off to cook supper now. Might do another boob this evening while the nipple wool's available!

Chocclare I sewed and stuffed my first "pair" just to see what they looked like. Both Shezmit and loving hands take them unstuffed to save postage.
Where do you work that they have nipple coloured wool to borrow?:rotfl:

Forgot to say, sorry can't help with angel pocket as have only crocheted them

Yes, I could perhaps have phrased that better!

I work in a residential/nursing home, and wool is often donated to us for the ladies to use. I just asked the activities organiser if she had any dark pinkish wool and she brought me three separate balls - and we agreed on one which we both thought was the most nipple-coloured! (I do realise that other women might have quite different ideas on what constitutes that particular colour :D)

    Hi OnlyGirl,

The Pudsey pattern is easy if you know how to do increases. He's only 6.5" (16cm) high so it is a quick knit. The legs and body are knitted in one piece and instead of casting off some pieces you run the yarn through the stitches and pull tight so there isn't as much fiddly sewing up as toys normally have!

I hate sewing up and am impressed by people who make lots of toys.

Tempted by that Pudsey pattern... my friend's little girl's favourite toy is a Pudsey Bear, might be nice to knit her a friend for him!

Took delivery of some Sirdar Bigga to knit a cardi and some Sirdar Funky Fur Magic to knit a gilet today (both bought heavily discounted). Just need to finish my daughter's ballerina first! Appolina: I'm getting fed up of sewing up toys now as have knitted a footballer for DS1, a Shaun the Sheep for DS2 and am not making DD's ballerina, all of which are Christmas presents. Looking forward to some bigger knitting!
