dpixie - O how lovely CONGRATULATIONS to you and the new parents, and you just leave that smile where it is

What wonderful news, DPixie! Congratulations to the happy parents and big cuddle for the baby when you meet him for the first time!
Pippa - here's a link to a parcel service that Maytaurus found for us. If you have lots to post, it will work out a lot cheaper than Royal Mail. http://www.collectplus.co.uk/
If all those great toys are going for charity, please feel free to add them to your totals; you've worked so hard on them. I'm sure we would all love to see a photo of them!
Well, one and a half bunnies completed, one DH rescued from a huge bee that was buzzing around him, and several pots of tea consumed. I'm really taking it easy this afternoon and the bee was the only interruption from DH; I had to release it back into the wild because, tough as he is, he is terrified of anything that stings and buzzes, and we get loads here!

congratuations dp!! Did you get the email? Feel free to ask any ? on babette...am going to do mine incotton I think and am waiting (impatiently) for new cols to come into big knitters...a whole 2 weeks but will do my quilt in between. Can honestly say that my craft projects have almost kept me sane these last 7 months...would have been brokwn without something to focus on/small goals etc...
Kinsey are you sitting on it?
Chalky youre soo organised - I always pack the night before (and on the occasion the morning!) that I go!
DP are you kntting sommat for new nephew...babette would be perfect and if you use cheapish yarns you can get it done for about 25 me thinks...think the pattern makes it LOOK expensive even when it isnt iykwim! Also good for using up 1 balls of stash that was rescued!
Dentist painful - £39 and it hurts! Rescued 3 more balls that I need for babette and after a snooze will make it up more! Very excited and love it! Know the weezles will too!
Psso hugs for you re the tiles...could you pay someone to lay them for you? Things like that must be a constant reminded that hes not there and my heart goes out to you...
May and other lurkers hope youre oh. Big hugs and a yipee for aunty DP!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -
dpixie lovely news, congratulations all round.
ISOM, no that was the scissors. It'll be in the first cupboard I looked in, laughing at me. I'll see if Pippa's yellow is there as well.
psso laying the tiles and even using the special cement to stck them isn't tooo difficut, it's cutting the odd bits, even with a proper tile cutter that's a real pain in the butt.0 -
A new baby - lovely news dpixie - hugs to the new arrival & parents & auntie too !! Hope Bump is about that size, not too big but big enough to handle easily.
ISOM & Kinsey - re tiles. Should be fairly easy job then - they are actually vinyl tiles not the posh ones like Kathy`s that need special fixing etcjust haven`t had the time, energy, ooomph, enthusiasm or whatever to actually get down on my hands and knees and do it and because the kitchen has been an ongoing project for years, there hasn`t been any panic to do it.I`m used to living with it.
Would go severely against the MSE grain to pay someone to do it, I really grudged paying to have the new bedroom carpets fitted - cost almost as much for that as the bloomin` carpets . Had to go for a lie down in a dark room to get over the shock :rotfl:!!!! I`m a firm believer in having a go at fixing things like washing machines etc myself before splashing the cash around. First husband was worse than useless when it came to that sort of thing, so quickly learned how to DIM (Do It Myself) and found it hard to let Jim do things for me when he came into my life, independent is my middle name.
Have to get on with the other major reminder of Jim, his 16`x24` greenhouse. He used to grow and show flowers, and it is sitting glaring at me cause I haven`t `fed` it with seeds and cuttings this year. Normally it would be bulging at the seams with stuff growing on for putting out in the garden, but not this year. Haven`t even managed to keep his pride and joy fuchsias alive because of the awful hard winter. Hopefully I`ll get into action there soon.
Shaz, been feeling a bit ropey here as well. Cold, shivery, sick and could sleep for Scotland. In fact every time I sit down I fall asleep so maybe it`s a bug going round as DD1`s workmate felt like that as well. Hope you feel better soon anyway.
Might actually manage to do a wee bit of knitting tonight if I can stay awake.
Bye for now.

Elaine - I hope you feel better soon. Don't be too hard on yourself for not having 'fed' the greenhouse; you've had so much on your plate and the greenhouse will still be there when you have the time for it.
Well, second bunny complete, just have to do the last one which I hope to do this evening. Then I shall have to decide what to do next. I'll do some charity items then something for Summer when she comes out in May with her Mum and Dad (who, at 28, has requested a Harry Hill's Knitted (but really crocheted!) Character, so I'd like to get that done, too.
Well, DH has done a lot more tiling and is now clearing up. Elaine - I wish we had vinyl tiles. We've had to go for 'posh' ones because the floor was originally just earth, then we had it concreted when we were't here and, despite DH marking out the levels, the chap who did it took the markers out and just poured the concrete in through the window! Consequently, DH has had to spend days taking out the high points, and levelling it up. He's still not happy with it despite his efforts. I wanted Cushionfloor vinyl but he says the floor just isn't level enough for it.
Anyway, I hope you all have a great evening.

Wow what a lovely lot of posts today and how much is going on in people's lives. Lots of good,Thank Goodness. Everyone sounds so busy . Kathy your post wore me out just reading it!! For years and years we did DIY, and loved it at the time but I think we sickened ourselves of it so do as little as possible these days-- Thank Goodness we both feel the same
Dpixie -- What wonderful news
Psso - I so admire you -- you always sound so positive even though we all know you have got all your plates full and spinning so fast
Pippa == You have achieved so much - you must be thrilled
Lovely to see everyone else posting today'
Well our sporty visitors arrive tomorrow!! So we were having a bog clean through and DOH picked up the bucket wrongly and ouch !!! Bavk all gone awry so lots of warmth and some Ibrobrufen and hope that works\!
I am still trying to get ready for my 1 off stall by the beach for the GAPA Charity.
So today I have bottled some more Orange,Clove and Myrrh massage Oil and then I thought I would untidy the Craft Room again and have made some more Sock Monkeys. They are so cute but soooo fiddly !!
So that will need tidying up again tomorrow.
Sleep well everyone and hope tomorrow brings sunshine to brighten your days and make evryone feel brighterTry and do a good deed every day.0 -
Good morning, everyone.
Chalky - We've done the DIY thing for years - DH loves it, I don't because I hate being disorganised! I just want it all done so that we can start living again as opposed to always waiting for the next bit to get done! To my mind, it takes up far too much time, energy and money at our time of life and even DH has said this will be the last time we do something like this! This is by far the biggest project of all, although all our previous homes have been challenging in one way or another. A cottage we had once was so bad, we were told we were lucky to get a mortgage on it! One of the main outside walls would bend outwards if you just leaned on it, due to a complete lack of wall ties! We've had some scary experiences over the years! Now that the children have gone, I was hoping to have a relaxing semi-retirement doing a little work and a lot of what I really enjoy but it seems I shall have to wait a while longer. I hope you have a good week with the sporty visitors and that DH's back gets better soon. When is your charity sale? I hope it goes well.
I was hoping to finish the bunnies last night but I'm not happy about the face on the last one, so I shall be unpicking it and starting it again today. It's a smaller one than the others for Summer's little hands, and I've made the eyes too big and too far apart - looks a bit scary! I think I was too tired and trying to do it by lamp light - not a good idea!
Elaine and Shaz - hope you are both feeling better today.
(((Hugs))) to all who are unwell and to those who are MIA - Pam, hope you are well?
Anyway, will catch up with you all later.
