not much knitting done today, had to take daniel to doctors cos he has a really bad rash, that itches like mad, but also painful to touch, turns out he's got shingles, so doc has given him paracetamol and codeine for the pain, apparently it can last for four weeks
hugs all

Oh dear Shaz, as if you haven't had enough. Hugs to you and Daniel.0

Shaz - (((hugs))) to poor Daniel. I hope he gets better soon. You've all definitely been through it lately, haven't you?
(((Hugs))) to all those who are MIA at the moment - Maytaurus, Elaine (who may have her hands full in more ways than one right now, if her DD has had the baby!), Pam, Linedancerann, and others. I hope they are all well.
Well, I started sewing up the bunnies but am not happy with the ears so I've been redesigning them - I have all these different ear shapes all over the place - DH thinks I'm mad! He says 'an ear's an ear, surely?' but he doesn't know how important these things are for a rabbit! Anyway, I think I've got the problem sorted, so will crack on with putting them all together later on today.
Anyway, will catch up with you all later.

Hi to one and all
Kathy -- Have a little look at Little Cotton Rabbits blog she has some delightful bunnies with delightful ears. I have just finished mine to go home but the ears are at best a bit random !!!
Shaz Don't want to poke my nose in but there are tablets called Acliovar and they help enormously. I think they have to be taken at the beginning so maybe it was too late with Daniel. There is also a marvellous tablet for the after pains of Neuralgia which can be resultant after a shingles attack-- Can you guess I have had it -- 3 TIMES!!! Poor Daniel it's horrible but hopefully as he is young he will get over this bout quickly. A friend told me recently there is an inoculation against it but I have not pursued that info as yet.
Just a flying visit this morning as I am on a mission to get some Gingham for some more taggies for Lous challenge so have got tp go to another market nearby as the material man wasnt at ours yesterday
Hope everyone has good days til I pop back later

Hi Chalky - I follow Little Cotton Rabbits but, sadly, I don't think she offers her bunny pattern for free. The bunnies are really gorgeous and I will take up your suggestion to take another look them to see how she does the faces - I always dread doing the faces on knitted toys and have been known to take days to get them right! I hope you find your gingham!
My DH had shingles when he was fourteen, my DGD1 had it last year, and my SIL here in France is just getting over it, so it seems to be spreading its nasty little tentacles everywhere. I've never had it but I know it can be a really horrid thing to have.
Well, I've just answered a pleading email from my sister in the UK - she's trying so hard to get to grips with 'this b****y technology' and I think is trying to run before she can walk! She keeps trying new things and is becoming very confused, so I've told her to slow down and just take her time with it.
Anyway, DH has just made some coffee so I'm off to enjoy that.
Have a great day, everyone.

morning all, chalky, the doctor mentioned some tablets, but said they were only effective in the first 48 hours of teh rash coming thru. i honestly thought it was excema or dermatitis, so didnt rush him to the gp as quick as i probably should have. the nurse he saw thought it was excema too, she only called teh gp in to write out a prescription, good job she did, on inspection the rash is like tiny little bubbles, just on one side of his body. dosent seem too painful for him at the moment, just very itchy, but we were warned that it can get painful as the spots dry up.
poor you chalky having it 3 times.
kathy, sounds like your family has had its fair share of it too. to be honest i'd never heard of it before, and when i got home had to look on the net.
kathy hope you get the bunny ears just right, i know how hard it can be to do the faces.
hope everyone has a nice day, its raining here, perfect excuse to knit
hugs all

Just back from knitting and it was ...me!! Stayed an hour and gave up! Did get a few squares of babette done and am now on the large ones so home streatch! Hoping to eek the wool I have for it as know weezl would hate me to buy more! Chalky did you block yours before you sewed it up? Will do mine after but was just wondering! Rest f day is here for me chilling with my blanket and getting rid of migraine - pain is gone but bleugh remains as those who have them will know!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -
Definitely no blocking for me. I have never blocked anything --- craft wise !!! Thats probably what I should be doing but hey ho I can live without perfect right angles and I am sure someone giving a blanket a cuddle cares even less!!
TBH I had never even heard of it until recently ( certainly after completing sewing all the squares for the Memory Blankets for Dear Jim) When I read about it it stated that you need to reblock after each wash- So life is too short and I have got too much I want to do for blocking but I am sure the end results make the project even better.
Yes after walking round every stall and resisting clothes, shoes etc we found the material man. He was so generous with his cutting. An extra 10cms on each piece and the yellow I wanted an extra half metre cos it was the end of the roll. Its that lovely fairy again knowing its for a good cause.
So I am going to lock myself in the Craft Room this afternoon. Keep away from this computet time gobbler of mine and get on with the taggies. We have non crafty visitors next week so I want to finish up my bits and pieces and have a tidy so that I can pretend to be interested in things like--- Let me see GOLF!!! Yawn.yawn.Try and do a good deed every day.0 -
Oh, Chalky - golf (double yawn!). I've never understood it. Luckily, my DH doesn't like it, either, so I don't have to get involved with it!
As for blocking, with the squares, I hand wash them very gently then dry them flat in a warm place making sure they are straight-edged; no need for all that pinning. I find that washing them tightens all the stiches up and it's really easy to keep them square while they are drying. While all the renovation work is going on here, I'm washing everything I make just in case some of that dreaded dust gets into them! Your fabric man sounds lovely and really generous. Obviously a good find for you craft-wise!
Shaz - hope DS is feeling OK.
Well, we're off out to pick up the floor tiles for the hall floor - the shop phoned to say they were in, so I hope they are - knowing the French, they'll be the wrong ones. As DH is colour-blind, I need to go to make sure he collects the right ones! The ones we chose are a lovely washed terracotta shade - I heard him describing them to someone as yellow - hopeless!
