  • Hi all :)

Chin up to all my fellow sufferers. A wise person told me there is only one thing to be done and that is to just keep breathing... I'm trying :)

I think I've finally flipped mind you, spent 2 days washing all of mam's under things and nighties.... before I take them to the tip tomorrow! I couldn't bear the thought of throwing them away without them being fresh. I told you... flipped :o. Social services are coming tomorrow to take her shower chair, walker, monkey pole etc, that will be hard. Not getting rid of much else yet, thinking little steps.

Been shopping today and almost picked up some wool at wilkinson's. Stopped myself when I thought of the 3 bin liners full I have waiting until I feel up to knitting again. Hoping as the nights get lighter I'll regain the urge.

Niece set off some of those huge Chinese balloons yesterday (the ones that you light a fire under like a hot air balloon). As they were getting so high they were nearly out of sight 4 year old Zaki said 'I'm sending those right up to big grandma in heaven, and I think I can see them reaching her now'. Enough to make you cry... in a good way.

Stick with it F1widow. That head makes my blood boil. You are not the one who should be worrying if you're doing the right thing, they should. They have been woefully negligent in their duties and I'm sure they will get a good stiff kick were it will do the most good when LEA see them. The government have spent the last several years trying to stop bullying and I'm sure they won't tolerate this attitude from people who should be fighting to stamp it out.

Well Meg is crossing her legs poor dog, so best take her out I think.

  • Hi all,

Peaceful, loving thoughts to everyone, especially those who need them most x

F1 widow... IMHO i think you are doing your best and thats all you can do. If you don't stand up for your son's best interests then no-one else is going to? A school's priority is jointly between the safety and both physical and emotional welfare of it's students while under it's care, and the educational side. If a school is failing in any aspect then you have the right to raise your concerns repeatedly until the problem is resolved to everyone's satifaction. Have you requested a meeting with the school's headteacher? Just because your son's teacher does not seem inclined to act to resolve everyone's concerns then you have every right to raise the matter higher up. Please don't doubt yourself - you are not out to cause anyone hassle or grief, just helping to support your son'e emotional wellbeing the only way you know how. try to be strong a bit longer and continue to follow your heart to do what is best for your son (and please don't worry about your "name being mud at your son'e school", it's your responsibility as a parent to raise any concerns you have, you ARE doing the right thing!)

black crow name... comes from the large tattoo on my back i designed myself, inspired by Pink Floyd's song "Learning to Fly" (very inspirational to me) and the idea that crows are messengers of the soul in some pagan beliefs - also a reminder that i have the power to take control of my life and transform into whatever i need to be, according to what life throws at me.

Star the cat... is one of 6 rescues (of different types) who live with me, she is quite small i guess and half siamese (and very vocal and demanding sometimes, a real diva but adorable). One of my other cats is tiny compared to Star though... if i hold out my hands flat in front of me together Boots will lie in them and curl up, with just about 1/2" overlapping either side of my hands - she turned up in a cardboard box on my doorstep one day unanounced in a storm with a brother and sister (rehomed to a neighbouring house so i still see them, and the brother comes in for food and cuddles on occasion still?!)

thank-you all for the feedback re: my crochet pics - the reason i asked is that i have never had any comments from anyone about my finished crochet items before, and genuinely wanted to know if they looked right or not!

tea-cosy pattern was from lion brand yarn as a freebie and VERY easy (instead of using 7 colours, i just used 3 and repeated as necessary)

snuggle bunny blankie is an AWESOME pattern i also sort of adapted from Lion brand yarn felt bunny pattern - only takes 4 hours from start to finish, takes @ 70g wool (so perfect for finishing off odd balls of any baby sort of DK wool) and kids love it! would be happy to post my adapted pattern but have nowhere to really do it (no blog of my own, sorry).

    hugs

  • oo does roosevelt the adorable have a pattern?! Like AP I love seeing other peoples work so post away!! I'll try and sort a piccy of bunny who is now loved by her owner!
Sorry things stil tough for people. I think Jan is such a tough months of many reasons; the exhaution/emotion/planning of Christmas and being out of routine; dark nights taking toll; older people prone to more due to weather/vulnerabilities etc...
Re mums stuff and washing can understand that...would any of it be any good for homeless shelter charity shops so at least you can feel its still "doing" sommat ykwim? Just a thought...
No knitting done yet but am continuing with hat and had my crochet lesson today so have now got it!! hurrah!
Big hugs for you all...sorry that so many of us having a tough time...I keep having to remind myself in the darker moments that "this too shall pass"...and liked the breath in/out analagy...

    Good morning everyone.

Pippa - (((hugs))) to you; what a sad day yesterday must have been.

LC Wilson - good to hear from you. You are going through such a sad time and my thoughts and lots of (((hugs))) are with you.

F1 - you stick to your guns with the school. Your first loyalty is to your DS. I definitely think you did the right thing. The school has the problem and it's making your DS suffer for it; carry on fighting the way you are and they will have to do something about it - for the sake of your DS and other children who may be going through the same thing now or in the future. Please give him a big (((hug))) from his 'Auntie' Kathy and, I'm sure, all the other 'aunties' on here.

Mumof2 - thanks for the link to that lovely little pattern.

Jean - are you nursing a hangover this morning? I know what the French idea of a quick drink is! Like you say, tea and coffee don't come into it!

Blackcrow - our cat, Louis, just turned up as a kitten when his mum brought him to us, then disappeared when one of the neighbour's dogs cornered her in the garden. I worry about her because she was pregnant at the time and no-one has seen her since she ran off. I hope she has found a home somewhere. She was obviously feral but had a sweet nature which Louis also has. He chose us, not the other way around, and we couldn't imagine life without him now! He's a beautifully-marked tabby, around seven months old and due for his first stay in a cats' home when we go away in February. Luckily, the home is run by a good friend of ours and she will spoil him rotten as well as take him to the vets to get 'done'! She gets a discount so offered to arrange it for us!

ISOM - I think January and February are rotten months. My dad died forty one years ago o February 9th, so it's always a month we are glad to see the back of. Fortunately, this year I will be in my home town so I can take my Mum up to the crematorium on 'the' day and we can leave some plants there to remember him, which the staff will plant out for us.

Well, I finished my 6" DO square last night; I found a lovely but easy puff stitch pattern which I've used. I just need to sew the ends in then I'll take a photo of both squares before I post them off to Lou. I'll use the same pattern for some of the Chalky squares I will be doing on the way to the UK and back!

Hope you all have a good day today. I have some written work that I need to get done, and I also need to run a few errands, so I suppose that will take up the whole morning.

Good morning all. I didn't get on yesterday as the internet connection was playing up so I have just spent half an hour catching up on everyones news.

F1 Stick to your guns!! The school are NOT dealing with the problem very satisfactorily at all and you have had no choice but to involve the LEA. ((Hugs)) to you and your son from his 'Auntie Lou' xx

Lorna Well done on washing Mum's things I would feel the same xx

    Salome ((Big hugs)) xx

It looks like everyone has been busy knitting & crocheting! I have been busy crocheting too now that I've finally sussed it out (amazing what 24hrs without the computer can do!) I did 4 squares yesterday so am very pleased. My pattern book for preemie clothes came yesterday too so I can get going on the cardigans in earnest now.

Have a good day all & hugs where needed.

    Hi
May... your posts always make me smile :-)
Still have germy children, but they all seem to still be able to go off to work/college etc, so they can't be feeling that bad lol. Need to find out how my son is. He played five aside football last night, but had to come home at half time. He came limping into my bedroom last night supposedly in agonies, complaining he'd torn a muscle.
I never know with the male species in my household whether there is always a slight exageration on their symptoms, or whether they really do feel as groggy as they say they do lol. Anyway. He's gone off to work, so all must be well. As he left early, I didn't get to see him.
Last night, I taught my friend from church how to crochet :-), She came and had dinner with us. She is lovely, has a few learning difficulties, but she did really well. Took about two and a half hours to get her to a granny square stage. Sent her home with a started off granny square, and an instruction book. She was a happy bunny :-) She bought her knitted charity squares to show me, and she's done loads. Put's me to shame lol. Going to have a lot to send to Chalky when she's here in April :-)
I did however manage to finish off another charity square myself last night, and my baby blanket is coming along great :-) Looking forward to getting it finished.
A prosperous and blessed day to you all, and hugs to everyone who needs one (((((hugs)))))

  • morning

hello to all including the awols lurkers and non posters

Salome i hope your 'germy' children are better soon and dont give it to you

maytaurus another lovely post, i hope you are well

Pippa - sending you hugs yesterday must have been very difficult for you

LC Wilson - my thoughts prayers and good wishes are with you.

F1 - you are doing the right thing your son needs someone in his corner stick to your guns. the poor lad is probally having pressure put on him at school to keep quiet thats why hes started playing it down.

Blackcrow - our cat, Roger is a rescue cat weve had him about 10 years now

ISOM - i agree January and February are rotten months. we didnt find out till beginning of december my DH auntie was ill cancer took her very quickly and she died on 29th dec it was a double tragedy as when her husband had the news broken to him he had a heart attack and joined her a week later. It was a double funeral last friday. I didnt go as i wouldnt have made it back in time to get youngest from school but it was a really sad time. I got a new address book for christmas and spent the weekend transfering names over, it was quite sad realising how many people i didnt have to transfer into the new one. (i've had my other books over 15 years)

i did a couple of chalky squares last night

got meeting tonight so wont have any knitting or crochet time i dont think

    have a good day all
