morning all, squares are about all i can manage at mo, nice and easy, and no brain work involved, la-la, question, can they be stripes, i have some oddments to use up too, and thought they would add interest to blanket?
pam, your evening sounds lovely. my evening last night was naughty, was online buying clothes, (most will prop get returned, but i ordered a lot, to see what suits me, and what fits), and lots wool from kemp, including sock wool, scarf kits, teddy kits etc. also bought myself a ring yesterday in town, a gorgeous pink saphire one, with a emerald cut diamond either side, not very mse, but i needed cheering up. meeting with ian went ok, we talked, he apologised about xmas, we agreed to try again, taking thinks slowly, and seeing what happens.
off to visit a local town today, that has loads charity shops, hoping to rescue a ball or two
hugs all
shaz xenjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)0 -

Thank you so much for all the words of support Can I say at the very beginning in capital letters
PLEASE DON'T FEEL YOU HAVE TO JOIN IN. PLEASE ONLY JOIN IN IF YOU WANT TO!!!This is supposed to be a soothing project not one that gives anyone any stress !!!
This was only a little idea to give us a little focus for the beginning of the next decade.
PFUNGI/PAM -- Yes please that idea sounds wonderful-- any help with the organisation online much appreciated
HARD UP HESTER-- What a wonderful start. Thank You
Shaz -- Hope the knitting helps keep you calm
Orkney Star -- Thats absolutely fine we all have our favourites as I said in the beginning only join if you want to. Thanks for good wishes though!
Elaine -- So glad Jims blanket brings you comfort and so lovely you are going to join us!
Kinsey Thanks for the idea of the Angel Bears as they are square-- How lovely to tuck them in with each blanket!
As are all ideas. Be as inventive as you like. Last time appliqued knitted hearts made a pretty addition but things can also be funky and fun. Lovely to pop some photos of your squares on sometimes and I will d the same a I sew them together.Similar to Jim's blankets.
Squares can be anything anyone wants and the only thing that we need to be consistent with is the size . 8 inches because of the task of sewing them together -- BUT even then don't be too worried as I push and pull them as I sew so all ends up fine.A little tail of wool left attached helps with the sewing up!!
Double Knitting is the easiest to keep a uniformity of thickness.
Right I can feel the needles/hooks poised.
DETAILS ABOUT POSTING As most people know DOH and I split our time between here and Spain so can I please ask that the posting is done when we doing a UK stint. That is when I shall be doing the sewing up anyway. Poor DD who lives here has trouble sometimes with our postman as she works full time so I don't want to add to her hassle.
SO the first posting date of squares to me will be April 23rd-- I think this will give everyone lots of time and take any pressure off us to rush and feel anyone is waiting. I will give the next posting date after that which will be towards the end of June.
I don't want this project to involve any extra money at all.Hopefully the squares will not weigh too much so postage costs to you wont be too great . Please please can I just say Thank You for donating the wool, your time and the Postage Costs to me. I am sure the Hedgehog Hospital will sell my hedgies again next year so that will cover all the postage costs of the blankets and toys when they are complete to wherever we decide to send them.
Ok any other ideas or suggestions please feel free to add them . Please feel free to join in even if you usually lurk or have only just joined us or are thinking of joining us . The more the merrier

Chalky, cancel my last post......I will make myself a challenge to like doing squares again (sickened myself with them when I made a huge blanket!).......would it be ok to do crazy zany patterns though ? Have quite a lot of funky coloured DK that is a pleasure to knit with! Have they to be knitted only (or crochet) ?
Shaz, glad the meeting went well.
