I am hoping the Hedgehog Hospital near my village will support our charity knitting postage costs for the delivery of the finished projects involving squares as they did last year both with the wonderful efforts for the wonderful blankets in memory of Jim and all the bears and other knitted goods that came back in the Sunshine Bus from Spain. So there will be no extra costs invovled in this project at all just our usual dose of goodwill

    Evening All

I’m pleased to say I’ve had another lovely evening – supper with my Bro + PamsPal & her DH I supplied the meat & pudding, PamsPal the veggies & Bro the mince pies & cream all in all a nice meal with excellent company!

Shazrobo – I hope today went well - you have my number if you want to chat!

Chalky75 – thanks for stirring us up – I like the idea of a “square challenge” - there are many good causes out there which need either the squares individually or as blankets.

Perhaps to keep the interest going we could come up with various themes throughout the year ?

I’m happy to put up a page/s on googledocs to list details of various patterns if it helps, I’ll look out some basic instructions tomorrow to start it off – let me know what you think.

OK peeps, whisky is catching up with vin rouge, so perhaps its time to say goodbye!

    “Goodbye”

    luv

Chalky - you can count me in for some squares. It`ll be a change from doing baby stuff for DD in the coming months. Well they do say charity begins at home so that will be my first priority in 2010, but will also do my bit for others less fortunate.I know how much we appreciated our gift of blankets in memory of my dear Jim. I usually have my one round my shoulders as I sit knitting - there always seems to be a draught from somewhere ?? Will have to have a look and see if there any `square` toy patterns about as well. Plenty of inspiration for patterns for squares on the dishcloth sites if I get fed up with plain ones. Hmm, think the unfinished projects might go back in the tub for a while longer. ;) think I`ll have a look in the stash to see what jumps out at me, but that will be tomorrow.
Had another snow shower a wee while ago so might be more before morning. It has been forecast anyway. Our road is a disgrace - no gritters have been round since the snow started last week and the road and pavements are soooo icy that it`s a thought to venture out at all.

Well, off to have the Horlicks and get to bed with !!!!!! Francis ;)
    See you all tomorrow.

So the Challenge of the Square is well and truly launched, pause for fanfare!!
I think it would be a good idea if you post some details of squares Pam, and the Angel Bear would also be a good starting point, as it's squares. There's cat and dog blankets as well, details in maytaurus' posts.

    Morning all,

  • Creeps back in, hanging head in shame, I'm afraid life took over completely, that & the need to earn a living now I'm back to being the sole breadwinner. I have a bag full of crochet squares, not sure what size they, 7ins I think, but I can add a row & make them bigger, where do I send them Chalky? I won't send any until I go back to work on 6th & can post from there (I daren't go back to the Post Office til they's forgotten me, I went in with £56 pennies in bags & boy did they complain).
    Hugs Hester
