May - have pmd you you are a sweetie xxx

the journey to Mums was only  because I dont go out in the car but once in a blue moon! - my poor DH has had his thigh squeezed I can tell you - the journey there was fraught but not too bad as I was excited but coming home I ended up anxious and a bit teary - the weather had gone colder and he felt that what I call the back way was too dangerous so the only way to come home was the A roads (severe panic on an A road) - low and behold the first thing I see on getting on to the A14 was a huge info sign telling us how many deaths there had been on that particular road - just what an an anxious panicky passenger needs to see - still all the panic attacks were worth it to see my family

I did have a ball of wool and needles keeping me company during my stay at Mums but they did not come out of the bag .... Santa brought me a lovely bag of four mixed balls of "bundle of joy" wool from my dear old neighbour who also knits for SCBU at her local hospital - she is in her seventies and such a lovely lady

    Hi everyone

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas day. We had the most fantastic day with our friends with delicious food and great company. We ate until we could eat no more, then took the dogs out for a long walk (she has one of her own and three she is looking after while their owners are away). The weather has been gorgeous - really cold but dry and sunny. The walk really did us good. Then we came back to mulled wine and warm mince pies, and a laze around on the sofas. Yesterday, we stayed for lunch (cold turkey and bubble-and-squeak), then drove home in the late afternoon. Spending Christmas with such good friends helped make me feel less sad about not seeing the family; I would have found it quite painful staying at home. It seemed strange yesterday because the roads were quite busy and all the shops were open - the French don't do Boxing Day so it wasn't a bank holiday.

My friend bought me some lovely pom-pom wool in shades of blue and white. It came in a kit with some circular needles and instructions (in French) to make a scarf. I shall take a photo of it later to show you. I've never used it before so it will be a challenge to try it!

I'm going to catch up on the thread now, and will call back later.

    Hi there.
    Hope you are all well.
Went over the bridge to Cardiff yesterday to collect my Cardiff lad :-) Will be doing it again tomorrow lol. To take him back.
Off to Dartford shortly. The girl who was engaged to my son who died (that's a long winded sentence!!) is having her baby daughter dedicated today, so we're off to that :-) (She married a lovely man four years ago.) Don't know whether to knit on the way?? It can sometimes make me feel sick.
All of you have a blessed and proserous day, and may all your knitting go well :-)
    Love you all.

    x
    A work in progress :D

Not knitting, but I was just reading this and thought about all you peeps and how we try to help in some small way when & where we can. Thought you may like read it
In Buddhism, love is divided into three forms: loving kindness, sympathetic joy and compassion. Loving kindness is the driving force behind friendship and all forms of positive relating.
Sympathetic joy is probably the rarest one of the three; it consists of feeling joyful about the good fortune of someone else! (In some Thai villages, they have the interesting custom of ringing the village bell and chanting something like “Good for you” whenever some major good comes to a household)
Compassion, finally, is about being empathetic and helpful to those who are suffering, and governs all forms of charity and charitable work.
This is the season when many of us are accustomed to think about what we can give.
The time between Christmas and New Years is a wonderful week to take a little time to reflect on your relationship to the world, and consider what your Compassion Budget is going to be for next year.
Of course, as with all love, compassion starts at home, beginning with and for yourself.
What are you willing to do to be more creative?
Or, focusing on attitude, what could you be more grateful for?
In terms of money, perhaps it feels like there is not enough available right now for you to create charity as a budget item but considering that time is more valuable than money, perhaps you can volunteer.
There is always something you can do to empathize with and help others,
So exercise your heart’s compassion muscle...... It feels good!
