Good morning all! Well the weather has won; Mum was going to come for dinner tomorrow but the latest snowfall has scuppered that, access to our little estate is now nightmarish so common sense must prevail & Mum will stay safe & warm in the Nursing Home and my brother will go and have dinner with her (he lives a lot closer than me & can walk there if necessary). I will go across to PamsPals so no real hardship for me, I am very lucky.

I hope all of you have the best possible Christmas, stay safe and warm and relish this time of Peace and Love.

Methinks I’m going to be several gifts missing cos of the circumstances & the weather but I just keep reminding myself that

It's not the things that can be bought that are life's richest treasure, it's just the little "heart gifts" that money cannot measure...

A cheerful smile, a friendly word, a sympathetic nod
Are priceless little treasures from the storehouse of our God...
They are the things that can't be bought with silver or with gold, for thoughtfulness and kindness and love are never sold...
They are priceless things in life for which no one can pay, and the giver finds rich recompense in giving them away.

From an email -

There is one Christmas Carol that has always baffled me. What in the world do leaping lords, French hens, swimming swans, and especially the partridge who won't come out of the pear tree have to do with Christmas? This week, I found out.

From 1558 until 1829, Roman Catholics in England were not permitted to practice their faith openly. Someone during that era wrote this carol as a catechism song for young Catholics.

It has two levels of meaning: the surface meaning plus a hidden meaning known only to members of their church. Each element in the carol has a code word for a religious reality which the children could remember.

-The partridge in a pear tree was Jesus Christ.
-Two turtle doves were the Old and New Testaments.
-Three French hens stood for faith, hope and love.
-The four calling birds were the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke & John.
-The five golden rings recalled the Torah or Law, the first five books of the Old Testament.
-The six geese a-laying stood for the six days of creation.
-Seven swans a-swimming represented the sevenfold gifts of the Holy Spirit--Prophesy, Serving, Teaching,Exhortation, Contribution, Leadership, and Mercy.
-The eight maids a-milking were the eight beatitudes.
-Nine ladies dancing were the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit--Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness,Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self Control.
-The ten lords a-leaping were the ten commandments.

-The eleven pipers piping stood for the eleven faithful disciples.

-The twelve drummers drumming symbolized the twelve points of belief in the Apostles' Creed.

So there is your history for today. This knowledge was shared with me and I found it interesting and enlightening and now I know how that strange song became a Christmas Carol...so pass it on if you wish.'

:snow_laug A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL :snow_grin

.....................:rudolf:I wish you all joy, peace, and love :xmassmile..................

If you are travelling please take care and remember a shovel, torch, flask, gloves, hat, scarf and wellies in your car could come in handy.

If you are staying at home and sharing your day with family and friends have a wonderful time, enjoy your Dinner and be careful with the flames on the pudding.

Also if you have elderly neighbours just pop in and see if they are ok, it is so cold and the older folk usually don't move about very easily and it's the time of year for hypothermia.

I hope anyone feeling poorly or who has family feeling poorly feel's better soon

Love to you all and ENJOY YOURSELVES above all KEEP WARM

• Afternoon all! Well last of chores done so just chilling now! Had a lovey hot stones massage, facial and reflexology treatment this am - woke myself up snoring!! Bliss! Isoke has now ventured out May - she was driving me nuts yesterday and I felt that she needed to go out so shes been trying it out - going in, out and in again!! Still not quite a cat yet but not far off! As for leaving tree/wool/nativity alone - chance would be a fine thing!
Hope people are ok and able to relax amongst the change in routine, family, visits etc - I love seeing people but its lovely to be home too! Mum and I sitting happily knitting! Having finished the to do things may even make sommat for me now!!
