I’ve not been around a lot the last few days. My neighbour of 25 years died this week and I’ve been trying to help where I could. I’ve been to the chapel today and the roads are so bad it was horrendous.
We’ve had over a foot of snow now and I’m glad I didn’t have to do any shopping this week apart from the butcher over the road. I hope you are all keeping warm and safe today.
Welcome to all the new knitters and crocheters, and loving thoughts to all the poorlies and the MIA’s, and well done to everyone else
So, Merry Christmas to you all. May the love and friendship that we have all shown to each other and the recipients of our skills continue into 2010 with our new project whatever that may be.

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a peaceful New Year.

    love
    Lisa

Pol - so sorry to hear your sad news. Please send my condolences to the family. I hope you and they have as peaceful a Christmas as possible under the circumstances.

Maytaurus - what a wonderful post! Thank you so much. I love the teddy pattern - I think it will be a popular one on here! Thanks for all the effort and time you put into all your posts. I hope you have a good Christmas and a much better New Year.

Pam - that was so interesting about the meaning of the words in that song. I shall print it off to show others.

I've loved all the good wishes on here today! They show what a wonderful warm and friendly place this thread really is.

Well, I've had my laziest ever Christmas eve, because I'm not cooking tomorrow and I can save most of my present-wrapping until the new year. I've been shopping - hectic, but not as hectic as the UK at this time of year! and bought several different cheeses, some wine and some lovely choccies as our contribution to tomorrow's meal with our friends. We're having a secret Santa, so I've wrapped the pressies for that, too. I shall take some crochet to do while we're travelling for the hour it takes to get there.

I shall call in here before we go.

I hope all those with snow problems have all they need to get them by until the big thaw.

    Have a wonderful Christmas eve.

Just grabbed myself ten minutes away from the madness that is my home at present, as I wanted to wish you all a very merry christmas, we all spend time rushing around and attempting the impossible, with varying degrees of success. Take some time to yourself, relax a bit and enjoy the moment, it matters not that the "jobs" aren't done, or the house isn't perfect, what matters most at this time of the year is that you have your family and friends around you. Having spend a good few Christmas's on my own I know it isn't always an easy day, sometimes invitations to friends or family are just not what you want to do and that's fine, this year I am lucky I have my DH and DS here so I shall enjoy every minute of it and store away the memory to cherish at a later date when perhaps I won't have company around me. My Grannie used to leave the dishes in the sink and when you said you would do them she made you sit down saying "I can do dishes any time I can't always have the luxury of company" I didn't understand it at the time but I appreciate it now. So you all have a good day, keep safe, warm and enjoy the moment, what a fantastic bunch of cyber chums you all are.
Will pop in tomorrow and catch up again,
    Jean

Shaz, I`m much the same. We`re going to DD1`s for Christmas lunch so I`ve nothing to do. Christmas Eve in the past was me usually up to my elbows in preparing food for the family, DH used to be busy alongside making the big pot of broth (enough for 2/3 days) and getting in each other`s way and it just doesn`t feel right.
Tonight I just can`t seem to settle long enough to even pick up my needles and wool !!!! Tried reading a book but gave up as it just wasn`t making sense.

Oh well, tomorrow is another day to get through.

I couldn’t do the perfect house bit this year and it really hit me, that the dust does indeed keep coming back, it will be there when I am not and it’s not worth making yourself ill trying to keep it banished ............. and that I wouldn’t mind it being around more of the time,
If it meant family & friends were healthy & happy ....... I WILL KEEP BELIEVING !! :j:j:j
