    Hi all

Pam - for my ruffle scarves I've been using DK yarn and 4 or 5 hook - it doesn't really matter. They are easy and quick to do; although the number of stitches increases with each row, you don't need many rows! They make ideal pressies when you're short of time. And, as Chalky has found out, they ruffle as you go in a very satisfying way - you have to keep holding it up in amazement! Even my DH is really impressed with them! They are great for presents because they look really fashionable and look just as good plain as they do multi-coloured. I saw one online somewhere that was done in black with a hot pink edging, very dramatic - I'm going to do that for DIL1, and a purple one for DIL2 because that's her favourite colour. I'm also going to make some smaller ones for my great-nieces.

Chalky - I'm glad you're enjoying ruffling as you hook! I agree with everyone else - your blog photos are wonderful and very uplifting. Thanks for posting them for us all to share. I read in a gardening book ages ago that the growing season in Scotland is 100 days shorter than in the south - with fifty days less at the beginning, and fifty less at the end. It's such shame because Scotland is a wonderful place. I recently watched an old Grand Designs where they built a fantastic house out over a beautiful loch. It was the best episode I had ever seen because the house was perfect and the loch and the surrounding countryside took my breath away. I'm sure for most people the beauty of such areas makes up for the cold - maybe?! Hopefully, your DSIL will adjust to the different seasons there, and be able to make the most of her garden.

I finished a little handbag for a niece last night - well, the ends need sewing in and I really must spend some time on that today; I have my usual bag of WIP as well as a bag of things that need the ends sewing in. Why do we all hate that job? At least the bag didn't need seaming because I made it in the round. I've made a tassel to hang on the strap, and I'm going to make another embellishment using a bead in a matching colour, plus a little purse to put inside it. I'm pleased with how it's turned out, so will make some more for little nieces. Well, that's the intention!

Ann - I hope you had a lovely evening last night!

Pippa - thank you so much for emailing the wrap pattern - I just have to look through my stash to choose a colour for my Mum! As I'm also hoping to make some cushion covers too, I shall use a colour that matches and wrap them all up in one great big parcel. Luckily, we're taking our presents over to the UK some time in January, so I have a bit more time to get them all done.

K2tog - do you have a little niece you could give the smaller ruffle scarf to? Or perhaps you could make some over-sized tassels to sew on each end to make it long enough.

Jean - I find I can easily get lost in blogland - you find one you like, then you can't help looking at their blog list and you end up getting deeper and deeper in, don't you? I tell myself not to feel too guilty though because it's where I've got a lot of ideas for Christmas pressies, and lots of bloggers give away lovely free patterns, so it's moneysaving in a good way! I have to discipline myself to spend a certain amount of time in that world, otherwise I'd get nothing else done!

Well, I'd better go and get the kettle on and get the day going. I've had to run errands every day this week picking up materials for DH for the house, and I've decided that I'm not going out today because it spoils my creative flow! It's easier for him if I do the shopping - as long as I know what to look for!

Wow ! some lovely crafty things on show here :-) I love looking at what other people make, it's very inspiring. I'm thinking that somthing like the wheelchair wrap would be good for the old folks in the care home. It's something that would be easy to slip over their shoulders on a cold day without having to struggle getting arms into a garment it can be very tiring for the old folk having clothes put on. One of those would be nice for my disabled next door neighbour as well. She finds it hard to get her arms into her sleeves. Ummmm Got my mind doing overtime now lol. If there's any chance you could get a copy of that pattern to me Pippa S I would appreciate it :-)
Next door neighbour had her slipper socks on last night. Says she doesn't like taing them off because they keep her feet so warm :-) Will get her some more made asap.
Have a blessed and happy day in all you all do, and proserous knitting and crochet to everyone :-)

    Morning everyone :hello:
Hope its nice and dry where you all are.

Chalky - ooo yeah spooky, what colour did you decide on to finish.

Pam - I used DK and a 6mm hook it says K but that converts to 6.5mm, as its all in US terms you have to convert it to UK so .... SC means DC..... DC means TR and its just 5 rows so does'nt take long, enjoy

Shaz - glad you liked the wrap and scarves, but it was'nt my birthday it was Linedancerann's :D

Salome - I will PM you

Kathy - glad it arrived was'nt sure whether you had changed your e'mail.

Just a thought, I tried a shorter ripple with a more "going out" type jacket and it looks really good so perhaps thats a way to use it. I am really hooked on them now(no pun intended):rotfl:
I have a green one on the go now just need to do another row and thats it. I found some lovely darkish lilac furry type yarn in my stash and will have a go with that, may be a bit thin but we'll see ;)

Dave has just taken Jan and her OH to the QE hospital, he has to have a tube down his throat..yuk.. I hope they find out whats wrong soon.
Jan rang up and cancelled their holiday yesterday, they were going to Australia to see their DD and SonIL then to NZ to stay with DS, DIL and Grandchildren, they have'nt seen them now for 2 years (its taken that long to save up to go) she is devastated but it can't be helped.

Right better go finish off the vac'ing
    back later

Wishing you luck with your mystery, Mrs Moneypenny!

Pippa - I'm going to try a ruffle using trebles next. As you've found out, they are very addictive, aren't they? I want to make one for myself once all the pressies are finished - by then it will be summer and I won't need it!

Good luck to Jan and her OH, by the way.

Good Morning everybody-- It is so lovely that people seem a little chirpier on here-- I think the ruffle scarves must be rippling everyone down - in the nicest possible way of course. If you have been thinking of doing one have a go they are such fun and I am teaming them up with the wrist warmers on Attic 24 for my girls for Christmas. For the wrist warmers I have found if you dont do so many stripes they are far easier. I chain 30 stitches and then make them as long as I want . Right I am off to take some piccies
Here is the finished rectangle. After making a couple of pairs I decided to do less stripes as it saves soo much time and sewing in the ends

    IMG_1266.jpg?t=1259234442
Here are 3 pairs nearly finished

    IMG_1272.jpg?t=1259234675
    IMG_1273.jpg?t=1259234752
I finish the thumb hole with either a row of single crochet or a row of blanket stitch to neaten it off
    IMG_1268.jpg?t=1259234875

And here is a pair teamed up with Kathys wonderful Ripple Scarf
    IMG_1269.jpg?t=1259234951

If anyone needs any more info just shout but if you need something quick for Christmas I can vouch for these. I am going to buy some softer wool for the next ripple scarf!!

Just to finish latest WIP I have just finished the latest lapacuddlyghan for my Great Nephew I am going to tuck a book in with it so that he can cuddle down at Story Time!
I think it was Mrs Moneypenny who described my pictures as Beautifully Bonkers so here is another one. The Sock Monkey is a Christmas gift to 1 of the children in the Orphanage over here and the Teddy is a resident in the house!!
    IMG_1275.jpg?t=1259235308

Ok I must get on with the ironing!!
May if you are reading this I hope you are taking it really easy. I will be among the first to give a cheer to see your first posting but please just enjoy reading the posts and dont overdo things.

If you are feeling fragile ,or sad and poorly very gentle thoughts and love to all.
Try and do a good deed every day.

Bonkers you may be, Chalky, but lovely with it! Pics are gorgeous and now you've made me add things to my pressie list because I want to make matching wrist-warmers for both my DILs to go with their ruffle scarves! I made my own without stripes because the sewing-in takes ages, so I'll do the same for them. I also want to make a set for DGD1, too. Can anyone spare me an extra pair of hands or do I really have to teach DH to crochet? As if!
