Hi All
Want to try and do a man sized hat for LH and wanted to use the operation Christmas child pattern because I know I can do it on my circular but it will need to be bigger.
http://www.operationchristmaschild.org.uk/files/file/Beanie_Hat.pdf
Is anyone here clever enough to change the figures so it is bigger and the increases don't look like a dog's breakfast?
Thanks in advance - need a simple, quick one as short of time!

Pam sorry your DS and Mum are having difficult times. Hope things improve.
Mrs MP, forgot to say hello earlier and that I hope things are getting better for you

Can anyone give me a simple crochet blanket...have decided that the ripple is a bit much for a first go so want a nice easy stripy one (two rows each col) to build my confidence! Assume I could just do a row of doubles and go back...

Part of the Furniture
Quick hello from me tonight just got back from the 2 Mums and from visit to friend on way home.
Have managed 3 X-stocking's and half a scarf on the way round as well so very pleased.

k2tog - you must be a mind reader, I have used the white fluffy on most of my X-stocking top's and some red/green hedgie wool on the others and they look really good. DGS is doing really well DIL took him to a playgroup for the first time last week and he loved it, kept looking round for her though he likes to know she is there. Thanks for asking :)
Chalky - Flour - icing sugar hmmmm different, well they are the same colour:rolleyes:
Kathy - bisto coffee yukkkk _pale_ DS2 once made us a coffee with a spoonful of coffee AND a tea bag, I thought that was bad enough but yours wins. O and BTW I hope you don't get filling the barn up with kittens else where are you going to put us when we turn up en'masse??? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Orkneystar - its not too difficult but there are a few pieces to stitch together, look's cute though with his hat and scarf on...showed it to Mum this morning and she has claimed it and named him Percy, for when the Great grandchildren come round she said  and I never even took his picture.

Better go I need to get stuff ready for my update, its all over the place at the mo, and the ironing is watching me:eek: think I'll stick it back in the airing cupboard

Enjoy the rest of your evening everyone

Hi hun - here's a couple of patterns starting with my favourite

http://stephanieknits.blogspot.com/2007/03/keeping-boyfriends-ears-warm-since-2006.html this is Aran weight & I have translated it to 2 needles if you want it.

http://www.yarnballboogie.com/?p=133 DK

http://azzyscrochet.blogspot.com/2008/06/skater-beanie-pattern.html CROCHET

Hope these help, if not give me a shout & I'll try to alter the OCC pattern for you - what size does the pattern turnout at?

Hi all,

Late visit tonight as I`ve been gadding about all day.
Went into town this morning with DD - I HATE going into town at the best of times but a Saturday morning  It was DGD`s birthday on Wednesday but she was having her Grandmas and Grandas, aunties & uncles and cousins for a teaparty today, so DD decided we HAD to go and get some Tinkerbell stuff from the Disney shop for her as an extra pressie !! Survived being blown about everywhere in the howling gales, unlike a poor stallholder at the market - her stall was practically ripped apart by the wind just as we were passing - poles and tarpaulin stuff flying in all directions.

Then tea party in the afternoon with all 5 grandchildren present, and reasonably well behaved, for a change :rotfl:It`s nice to see them all but they do get a bit over excited when they are all together.

DD then decided we needed some bits from the supermarket on the way home, essentials like pepsi, crisps, munchie things in general..........you get the idea I`m sure.
Got home to find telly wasn`t working so no Strictly to watch while knitting  Hopefully it`s just been the awful weather interfering with the signal and things are back to normal tomorrow. I don`t watch much tv but the young `uns like it on.

k2tog - your parcel arrived today so I`ll be stuffing the hedgies tomorrow. Thanks for sending them and the stockings.

Pippa S - anything at all will be appreciated as anything extra can be used at the next sale in November. Thanks.

I seem to recall someone else asking for my address to send something but I can`t remember who it was :o cottonwool brain again.

Off to fill the hottie and have some Horlicks (I`m just an old fashioned girl)
then off to bed with a book. See you tomorrow.

re;’Roll on to Part 4 - whenever that is!’

Not very long from the way things are going at the moment !

RE;’ it's my BIL's birthday on Sunday. I always try and make him something daft as a present (for Christmas last year, I knitted him a big pair of breasts with tassels!).

:rotfl::rotfl:Just trying to imagine what he might have done with them!!

Can’t wait to see the ‘my BIL monsieur with bag!
Re ‘Louis the kitten, he chose us, and I couldn't imagine life without him.’

he sounds sooooooo sweet .... but then you know me and animals????????!
I made some cat toys for DD & DDL cats,
but I had some ‘soft n furry’ from Wilkinson’s left over from one of the scarves I was making .........
I just crocheted about 12 ins x 6 and sewed it together and all the cats love them!
Sounds like you may be getting a cold/flu

I’m sure ‘a quiet weekend crocheting and knitting would do you good’

And equally sure it won’t do you any harm .... so go for it if you can

Have a look here for crochet blankies;
http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory/afghans.php

Hee hee .... should keep you busy for a while!

This is a really easy peasy one
:j:j

seeeasycblanket.th.jpg

Chain 93 or as many as you want very loosely with DK & 5 mm hook
Work 1 triple crochet, do 2 in third chain from hook skip 2 loops, do a single crochet skip 2 loops, do 5 triple again repeat across, turn and return.
When the blanket is a square you can do a trim of large shells on the edges, first chain 3, skip one loop, double crochet, chain two, repeat, do this on all four edges.
Then do the shell patterns like the blanket itself, around all four edges
Of course you can make it any size you want

Morning all,
Just a quickie update.
This week I have been doing a reasonable amount of knitting but it has been varied things, so my total to add on for charity stuff is:
1 angel pocket
4 IS hats
.
(Total as per sig!)
x OS

and your family

I am glad you feel happy with your DS monitoring & the way the surgeon has discussed things with you.
Re; ‘Now for my other (good ?) news
- my 17 yo daughter is going to have a BABY...
my late Mum would have said it had happened ` for a good reason` .....
Have already warned her I don`t do night feeds any more !!!’
Elaine I will pm you .... but like mioliere
I truly believe the same as your late mum
(I’m so sorry she is no longer there with you)
It’s been such a hard time for all of you,
I understand you feeling confused and concerned about your daughter having a baby,
but I am sure you will give her all the understanding, love & care that she needs and receive the same in return
But as In Search Of Me says ‘ooo a baby...how exciting!
Let the knitting begin!’
Of course I will have to add crocheting!
& as shezmit says, ‘your DD will be fine with your support’
and ‘i think a little one that is brought into a family that is filled with love is a very precious gift.’.......So I say

RE; ‘I had TWINS 3 weeks before my 19th birthday ....spent the month before delivery in hospital because of high BP’
WOW twins @ 19yrs, we’ll have to have a contest I think!
Elaine I also spent the month before delivery in hospital because of high BP....
I had pre-eclampsia, but that was when I had DS2 @ 30yr
My first pregnancy was the only straightforward one I had l-o-l :j

Re; ‘he was as much use as a chocolate teapot’
Oh Elaine, I’m so glad you haven’t lost your sense of humour, as I think it helps to get you through all the things that life can throw at you

‘Looks like it will be mum to the rescue again’
It’s wonderful to know that your DD & DGC will have you there for them :j :j :j
Personally, I feel sure this will make the bonds between you & your daughter & grandchild even stronger
My parents were shocked (to say the least... esp my Mum!)
I am an only child & having a baby at 17yr wasn’t exactly on the to do list!
But they were wonderful as always once the shock etc had subsided
I can honestly say I have never regretted my decision to have DS1
(can’t say the same about chocolate teapot though !) :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
and my Mum was such a beautiful knitter, my children always had stunning hand knits to wear
I also enjoyed knitting baby things & was so glad that she had taught me to knit
Does your daughter knit/crochet?

You definitely beat me (as well as mioliere) with 6 grandchildren as I only have the one,
but I know what you mean about ‘where have the years gone ?’
As it seems such a long time since my son announced he was getting married,
then 3 yrs later that my grandson was due and now .............HE’S 14 YRS & taller than me @5’ 10” !!

I’m sure all the family will give their love & support to your daughter & the new baby
Oh and one thing I think is really important .If anyone gets negative etc ... IGNORE THEM :T:T

... Ooooh just think of all the things you’ll be choosing & planning together :j :j :j
Elaine please try to enjoy this special time ,as you will never get it back
We have to have essentials like pepsi, crisps, munchie things in general in our house as well !! :rotfl:

‘Looks like charity knitting will have to take a back seat soon eh ?
’Get those needles clicking, buy bodysuits and baby-gros & you’ll have mostly cracked it !!
I’d love to make something for the new baby ...... anything you would particularly like?
and when I post the things to you for the fayre, I will send a little something in the parcel for the baby ....
