What a lovely post maytaurus, and what a lovely lady you are. .Even being poorly you achieve such a lot, imagine if you were well, you could be prime minister (I wish).
It's nice to know you weren't the only one concerned about J R puppy, I do hope he's ok.

Maytaurus - what a fantastic surprise to see both your lovely posts. You really start the day of well and always manage to make them so personal. Thank you so much.

Pam - I'm so sorry for all the worries you have. Hope things get sorted soon.

Chalky - thanks for your comment on my blog - my first one! Your blog is much more entertaining than mine; I think you've persisted with the setting up really well and posting lots of photos. I'm still getting to grips with mine. I have some more photos to post but just can't seem to get enough time to sit and concentrate on doing in without interruption! Anyway, please keep yours going - it's a great read and I feel I know you even better now. One thing I know for sure is that I'm sure we'd get on like a house on fire! Re: the freezer situation - I've been there and it's made me sit on the floor and cry. It's been done twice to me - once when I'd just re-stocked it, and the other time was years ago when we were stone broke, and I lost my last few days of meat. My reaction has never been forgotten. I hope you didn't lose too much?

Pippa - we're going to try and prevent more kittens, adorable as they are; it's not fair on the mothers or kittens. The Knitters' Retreat, when it's finished (!) will be cat-and-kitten-free - just imagine a load of us knitting and crocheting away in there, with a bunch of mischievous cats for company! Louis is enough of a handful as it is! He's such a character - I was cooking a chicken carcass yesterday and he was going mad for it. I have a double oven; each drop-down door has a long bar across it as a handle - I caught him hanging from the top one with his legs pressed desperately against the door, trying to find where the chicken was! Luckily, I was using one of the back burners of the hob (an old habit from when the children were small); if the front burner was on, he'd have burnt his nose! I saved him some of the chicken casserole we had for dinner and was rewarded with a lovely cuddle from a purring kitten with, I swear, an ecstatic smile on his face! Then he zonked out and I could crochet in peace for a change!

Anyway, have been looking for charity items to do because I've just sorted out one of the bags of wool my Mum gave me when we visited her in August, and I see she's sneaked in a 500g ball of white DK wool. That should keep me going for a while. I'm also going to do a crochet ripple lapghan for DGS now that DGD's lapghan is finished (well, apart from the sewing in of the all the ends, and the blocking).

I've decided, because postage costs are so expensive here, that I shall try and make a big parcel to send more things in one go. The parcel I sent to my Mum for my birthday cost a fortune for something so light - and I thought postage was dear in the UK! I need to send my IS hats off this week, so heaven knows how much that parcel will be!

Anyway, must go - the breadmaker has just beeped. Did I tell you all that I made a load of bread dough the other day and forgot to put the paddle in first? The instruction manuals tell you not to mess about with the ingredients and to put them all in carefully - well, I scraped the dough out, cleaned the tin, put the paddle in, put the dough back in, and the bread was as good as ever, so I didn't have to waste it.

Well, off now for a cuppa.

Can I ask a question to anyone who has knitted Lorna's Crib ?
I am at the stage of sewing together the first two parts.....I have sewn the top and am planning to do a simple crochet pattern. From the pattern for the crib I cannot work out if I am supposed to sew the bottom parts together (even though one is wider by 50 stitches) or just supposed to put the detail on the wider bit ? Hope this makes sense!
    x Thanks

Good to see you back on form May.
Pam, the scarf is lovely - very cheery. And thank you for the hat patterns, I will have a proper look later when I get a sec and am definitely going to do it on my circular which I LOVE.
Mioliere, it sounds like a Tom and Jerry moment in your house - lovely images of Louis.
What a nightmare Chalky - DH (mine, not yours :rotfl:) did it here once. We arrived back from a week away to find sticky defrosted redcurrants all over the floor and as for the rest of it....
Orkney Star, can't help with the crib as have never been brave enough to do one but I know a few on here have, so hopefully they will be along soon with some help.
I'm currently crocheting a scarf which I am hoping will look "manly" enough to go as a set with a matching hat for the LH shoeboxes. Quite pleased with it so far.
(((hugs))) to those that need or want one.
