All I've done this week is:
2 cardis
My mum is on holiday so nothing from her.
I have almost finished a sands blanket and the lacy blanket is STILL ongoing. My DD has nearly finished a cardi. I'm off to sunnier climes tomorrow so next week's total won't be amazing either, unfortunately.
Kathy - OH loves Ray Mears, but I prefer Bear Grylls. Never mind though, I love Doc Martin. Feel for you with ceiling coming down. Things in this house take FOREVER (I kid you not) and my resident DIYer is the most messy worker in the world. He is improving (albeit very very slowly) with housework though!
Pol - love the knitting pics.0 -
There are some lovely pics on the LH site of Kenyan orphans and the knitted teddies that got taken to them by a med student.
Great to see how far our teddies travelled and actually with their little recipients.0 -
Evening all; been awol as church, lovely lunch and a snooze...just cleaned the turtle and happily sat snuggled with cat, blanket, socks and kniting. No charity updates and wont be until after Christmas...
Re the pattern thanks for posting kinsey but I need a knitted one as crochet and I are yet to be friends!! Appreciate you posting it though!
Hugs chalky as you return to routine...horrible when people you love have left...lol re the house purchase miol - he hasnt got a spare house I could have has he?!!
Isoke been running around like a mad thing and now happily sitting sucking blanket on my lap!! She gets cuter by the day - if that were possible!!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -
K2tog - the onion soup is really easy. I make enough to freeze several portions, too, which just need defrosting. I just peel and chop six onions (red or white) and six cloves of garlic, and fry them in oil in a large saucepan until they just start to soften. Add two Oxos and a tablespoon of flour and stir well, add one and a half pints of boiling water, some herbs (I usually use rosemary and thyme), and a couple of bay leaves (torn so the oils are released). Bring to the boil and simmer for as long as it takes, really, around a couple of hours, topping up with more boiling water as necessary.. You can cool it and blend it if you want a smooth soup but we like it unblended. I freeze it down into separate portions, then defrost when needed and top up with more Oxo stock. I find it's a really cheap soup.
Another favourite - cooked exactly the same way - is sweet potato and red pepper with a little chilli powder added. It's really warming and comforting on a cold day. I make loads of different soups using the same method, leek and potato is another tasty one. The good thing about it is that you can use veggies that are past their best!
The wind problem I can't help you with, I'm afraid, but we've never had stomach cramps.

Hi Mrs MP, did a quick google and it may be a crochet character but as yet no pattern. It looks like they are selling them - maybe on the HH section of itv website, so they probably will be in no hurry to release a pattern.0

There's a website cloth-ears .co.uk says the pattern will be back up in 48 hrs so maybe keep checking it?

Hi Mrs MP,
Hope I've got the right toy - a rabbit? I wondered if this might do as a guideline - make the arms & legs skinnier & the ears a bit stiffer!

Hi everyone.
I'd love the HH knitted character pattern, too, although it does look fairly simple. That's one of the maddest programmes around, isn't it? I don't watch any of the soaps but I love how he treats them!
Well, I did have a nice evening with Countryfile (which next week is featuring France and how they keep the country villages alive). They also did a feature on alpacas and I want some! They are the most gorgeous animals, full of character - I was really taken with them. Ray Mears was my next date for the evening - I'd feel so safe with him, wherever in the world we were! I then spent a wonderful hour in the company of Doc Martin - so, all in all, a good evening being a couch potato with Louis the kitten (not so tiny these days!) snuggled up right next to me.
DS1 and family Skyped in the evening so I was able to catch up with them all. Poor DGD1 has had shingles; she's better now but spent a miserable few days with it. She has just started cricket club and was telling me all about it. DGS has gone up a level in diving classes, too. They both do gymnastics as well, so they are kept quite busy.
DS2 and DIL2 spent the weekend showing DGD2, Summer, off to my Mum and various uncles, aunties and cousins in Weston-super-Mare. Apparently, Summer smile for the entire weekend! They'll be Skyping me tonight, so I shall look forward to that very much. Isn't Skype wonderful?
Well, the ceiling may be coming down this week but DH now has my cold (I did try and protect him from it!), so we'll see how he feels. He's not one to make a fuss when he's ill, though, so it remains to be seen whether the mess can be put off for another week or so!
Chalky - I love the latest photos on your blog. Briony is absolutely gorgeous, isn't she? What a lovely time you all had together.
Well, today I have to do some food shopping, post a birthday pressie off to my DIL1, and do the update. Then I shall do some more woolly stuff. Not sure what the weather will be doing today - it's been a dampish week with a fair bit of rain, so I'm hoping for some of Chalky's sunshine!
Maytaurus - where are you? I hope you are OK. We all miss you.
Well, the kettle is boiling so I'm off for another cuppa. Luckily, BIL and SIL (who live just up the road) have just returned from a trip to the UK, and bought us a huge box of PG Tips so we're making the most of them! We've found teabags here that are almost as good, but nothing bets PG in my pot!
Have a great day, everyone.
