Good morning all. Up early again - I've been waking up in the night because I'm still a bit stuffed up with this cold. In the end, the thought of a cuppa made me get up.
Maytaurus - I do hope you are OK?
Chalky - I'm so glad you had such a good time with DD - of course you'll miss her, but there's always next time! Do you go home at Christmas or do the family come out to you?
Shaz - please don't think your update isn't very much. Every item is welcome. I think a lot of us are trying to make Christmas presents - I know I am. I've done some poppies, but I also have other projects on the go, because Christmas is looming up all of a sudden.
Welsh Poppy - it's great that you feel at home with us!
Well, we had visitors over for lunch yesterday. After a rainy start to the day, the sun came out and we had lunch in the conservatory - it got so warm, all six of us started dozing off but, when we were awake, we had a great time. I fed them all with homemade onion soup and homemade bread, and they brought some lovely cakes from the patisserie, so we were all pretty stuffed by the time they left. I then flopped down on the sofa and did a bit more on the crochet booties I'm making, started another Christmas scarf, and sewed in the ends on a couple more poppies. My end of the sofa is covered with different coloured bits of wool - I really must give it a bit of a tidy up.
As I knew it would, the day of the 'taking-down-of-the-ceiling' has been mentioned again, now that DH's finger is almost back to normal; this time, I don't think I can put it off. At least we now have another room ready enough for me to move my desk into it. Plus, we can get one of our sofas out of storage, too. So far, we've been using an old sofa in the temporary sitting room (the room where the ceiling is coming down), and our proper suite is in one of the barns; it will be so nice to get at least one of the sofas in. We love the suite and took ages choosing it - my DH has such long legs that not many sofas are comfortable enough for him, so he's looking forward to sitting in comfort. The sofa is much longer, too, so I'll have more room for my wool!
Well, the kettle is singing my song again. I shall have another cuppa and sit and crochet until it's a more civilised time of day. I had a good clear up yesterday before our guests arrived, so today I intend to do not very much today except cook, eat and crochet!

Does anyone have an easy mary jane bootee or 6-12 months pattern? By easy I mean no on two pins etc...apparently the pattern I am doing (a french hat/beret for goddaughter) is intermediate so am chuffed with that as so far so good!!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Good Morning everybody -- Everything back to normal here.Feeling much brighter here today and we are just about to start the BIG clean as we left everything while we were concentrating on having fun with DD here.
One of the wonderful things about retirement I have found is that it is only fair to share all the jobs so 1 of us "does" upstairs and 1 down. We meet at the bottom of the stairs. It seems to make it much more than twice as fast.
Well I finished my second ripple blanket yesterday. I am going to buy a special book and tuck it in the blanket for a special present for Great Nephew who is adorable. I will post a piccie later
I also made my first crochet bird similar to the ones on Attic24 and Mrs Twins Blogs. It was great fun and we have some lovely neighbours here who do so much for us so under the cloak of darkness I tied it to the tree just outside their front door and now I shall see how long it is before they notice it. If you havent tried 1 yet I would recommend them as I think they will make lovely little presents.
Well I think we are misiing lots of our regulars but I hope you are all reading even if not posting -- WE MISS YOU ALL !! Lots of gentle thoughts if things are difficult or if you are off having fun make the most of every second.
Well must go and get the rubber gloves on !!
Kathy ( ISOM-little mistake ha ha )I don't know if a husband swop is a good idea -- does yours do half the cleaning or just make a mess!!! Glad his finger is better!
Well have good clicking and hooking days everyone Love to one and allTry and do a good deed every day.0 -

ISOM not Mary Jane's but a very quick and easy pattern, could be made bigger with a couple of extra rows if necessary, and so sweet.

Nice to see you back Chalky, just hope we can fill some of the gap your daughter will have left.
Mioliere, how many times have you heard 'it'll be lovely when it's finished'?0 -
Kinsey -oh, just about three thousand times!
Chalky - mine is good at cleaning, luckily, and will even put the hoover round without being asked. He had to be trained initially, though! At the moment, he's cleaning the shower doors because I told him I find them difficult these days. The only mess he makes is when he's DIY-ing, so I can't complain really.
I've been watching the Remembrance service at the Cenotaph - I always find it so moving, even more so this year with so many of our young men being lost. It breaks my heart hearing their ages, knowing that my sons are in the same generation.

Morning all,
just popped in for 5 mins, whilst waiting for DS2,DIL and my gorgeous little munchkin to arrive for Lunch. :j
All toys are out ready for him and a fruit shoot is in the fridge, suitably watered down, jelly with chopped up fruit set nicely, and choccy buttons hidden away for later, so all is set.
I expect Pudsey will disapear home with him later
We were out all day yesterday at the 2 Mum's then to see my friend Jo, and last night we went to OH's club to a Fund raising for the Poppy Appeal, considering there were only around 50 people there we did'nt do too badly £300 at the last count.
There was a singer on and she was really good, she sang all the wartime songs. Considering most of us were born after the war it was surprising how many we could sing along with,
Have'nt done my count for update yet will do it later.
They have just arrived, see you later

Glad your migraine's gone, Jean. I have the 11th as this Wednesday - it's Armistice Day, isn't it?
Pippa - that was a great amount to raise for a wonderful cause. Did you see the links I found the other day for free plans for wooden toys? I'll see if I can find the post.
