<<<I'm on a hunt to find a bra with only one cup - does anyone know if they exist? I'm not yet sure if I want a reconstruction and I don't always want to wear a false one either but do need the support for the other one.[/QUOTE]>>>

    Hi,
I didn't go for reconstruction either as I had two operations.one to remove my right breast and then one to remove the 'padding bit' from under my armpit.I felt that I'd had enough of hospital by then. I had my prosthesis from the hospital, but have had trouble with the bras and am going back to the breast care clinic tomorrow afternoon to pick up some new ones at a slightly larger size. They can order and get them for half the price than the manufacturers charge ,about £23 each which is good .My breast care nurse said that wearing my prosthesis will help to stop my constant back ache ,which if you think about it is true as my centre of balance is out because of being a bit lop-sided.I have never seen a one cup bra but I suppose you could fold over and stitch up the side thats not required IYSWIM.Also the Breast care nurses can get you a light weight prosthesis if you prefer, they do tend to be a bit heavy but its to take the pressure of your spine by evening you up weight wise.
Its a whole new world when you lose your boob. I had my op in 2007 followed by chemo and radio therapy You do feel quite wiped out for ages afterwards and I was told that if I felt tired then to sit down and put my feet up as my body was telling me that it had had enough for the day. Even now, two years on, I know I will never be as active as I once was but I'm alive and still here which to me is a bonus. Having recently developed lymphodema after a fall on holiday in August I now have minimal strength in my right arm and that is quite frustrating at times .I can't knit for as long as I used to and have to wear a wrist to shoulder elstic sleeve to support my arm which is o.k. but quite hot in the mild weather. I am hoping that as it brings down the swelling I will be able to leave it off for longer periods. But there are a lot worse things in life that folk have to cope with, so I try to think positively.Onward and upwards is my motto.
I am now into my second year of remission and to me life is good ,if at times a bit frustrating.
Today I am going to potter about and just do some odd jobs at home as I had quite busy day yesterday. This afternoon I am making some cakes as my DGS pops in every night on his way home from London, as he is parking his car on my drive to save on parking it at the station. I think I'll make him some chocolate cake as its his favourite.
Tomorrow in the morning I will take my DD to her third interview for her job at Eltham as she has to meet with the regional manager there, fingers crossed she will get through. She has two large compnies after her and they are both good offers She will have to make her mind up tomorrow which one to go for. Hope everyone has a good day and <<hugs >> to those who aren't
  • Morning Everyone

another grey and bleeding grim day here in the foothills of the pennines. Its done nothing but drizzle all week and I swear somebody needs to stick a coin in the meter cos the sun has gone out

Not much OS being done here so felt a fraud posting recently.I'm waiting at the moment for the builder to arrive who should have been here at 10am!I hate unpunctuality it really makes me see red.Maybe I should be unpunctual paying him to teach him a lesson. He's digging up the front of the house today to lay a concrete pad to fit my front porch to.So expect loads of messy footprints through the house tonight when the tinies get home

I've got my Cervical Smear Test tonight and I'm not looking forward to it.After all the upset last time after getting a dodgy result and then the Loop Diathermy I sooo hope that it comes back clear as I desperately dont want to go through that again

BB-Hope that things are going as well as can be expected given the awful news that you had yesterday. From reading your posts I really thought that your BIL would pull through. So sad that he didnt and such a waste

    Hi peeps,

doggies are now walked and are comfortably snoozing away on their beds. The weather has taken a turn for the better and it is now beautifully sunny outside, quite warm too.

I discovered earlier that the dishwasher had standing water in it  after a quick google around i poured a mugfull of soda crystals into it and a kettle full of boiling water and then ran it empty on the hottest wash and waited around nervously for the result - great it is now perfect and is sparkly clean, i did have my doubts as the filters were fine so i suppose that it must have been the pipe that was blocked.

I knocked up a batch of hobnobs whilst i waited so i shall bag some up for the freezer or the lot will have disappeared by the time i get home tonight.

Happy Birthday to Master Bitsy :j

Thriftlady - Thankyou for posting the recipe, it sounds very tasty so i`ve bookmarked it for later.

Ravylesley - Good luck for later!

I need to read the meters and change over my gas & electricity tarrif - i`ve decided on the new sp energy saver 7 one after much deliberating, i`m already with sp so no cashback but hey ho it`ll work out cheaper than what i`m aready paying.

    Catch you all later.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

I think if you are honest they may be more accepting of any lack of formal training - after all, you've only been registered for a short while. Is this a start-up visit or a formal inspection?

Re planning, do you have a National Childminders Association contact? Or maybe there is someone in Children's Services at your local council who could help you with planning?

I would love more training but Local Authority has been in the process of putting the training contracts out to tender (and also ran out of money ) so although I've notified them that I am interested in some training I am awaiting details of what courses they will run
As for the council helping with planning - TBH the forum I am a member with is probably far more helpful. Most of the CM's I know are struggling with the planning aspect as observations are now compulsory rather than just good practice.
If I am honest I am a bit of a flapper about things I don't feel confident about and this is way out of my comfort zone. I guess as this is the grading I'll be stuck with for the next 3-4 years I really want it to be a good one :o

I'll give myself a good talking too and see if I can get a grip (and some more valium) :rotfl:

DS is having a lovely time with all this new toys (lots of things space and rocket related :D) and he's also got his first proper bike (with Spiderman emblazoned all over it so it's a bit hit!). Thank you all for the birthday wishes.

  • Thanks for the link to Attic24 the other day Thrifty. I am hooked. ;):D
Have you looked at it today? It's making me drool. I'm quite proficient with the old hooks and am all inspired by Lucy's colourful stuff but when I went shopping for nice cotton and wool yarns recently I was stunned at the prices -£5 a skein:eek:. I was with my mum who was spending a fortune, I'm sure the ladies in the shop thought I was so rude with my comments about price and how knitting and crochet were supposed to be thrifty crafts not the preserve of the well heeled.

When I was an art student I used to make stuff very like this. But now I want to make stuff like this, gorgeous.
  • Thriftlady you can buy La Chinita pimenton picante from Sainsbury. It s the one in the square red tin.
You can also buy it in 1kg tubs from various online spanish grocers. :D
