  • Good morning all:wave:

Just eating my breakfast- damson puree from the freezer on hm yogurt.
The kids had porridge with blueberries (from Kent;)), banana or sultanas and honey or syrup. You may have noticed that I never mention OH's breakfast, this is because he has made and eaten it before I get down in the morning-toast and marmalade (hm of course) every morning for him;)

Lunchboxes -kids and OH have sausage, potato and tomato salad again. Dd not keen because although she loves that sort of thing one of her 'friends' refused to sit by her because she said her lunch looked disgusting:mad:. They also have the last soft flapjacks and grapes (not UK grown lol!).
I shall be having leftover lentil soup again.

I have leftover potato, bacon and onion hotpot which I am going to pastify for tomorrow's lunchboxes. I shall add blue cheese to OH's-he'll like that;)

Supper -Trying out River Cottage Everyday's tupperware chorizo. It has been maturing in the fridge for a day or so. I'm slightly sceptical that raw meat will keep for 2 weeks in the fridge but it has a little wine, some salt and lots of spices all of which will act as a preservative. It smells delicious. I shall use about half of it to make little meatballs which I shall add to a stew of potatoes, peppers, tinned tomatoes and chickpeas.

    Other things to do today

    Bake bread
Create sponge this evening in order to attempt sour dough loaf tomorrow.
    Ironing

Bargainbird - Clare, thinking of you.
  • Morning Guys!

Feeling very sluggish this morning and everything hurts. Nurse has been but cant get very comfy.

We went to a DFS after the hospital to look at sofa beds and I found one I really liked but its £650:eek::eek::eek::eek:...they had a matching sofa but it came in at £1200, which is good but too expensive for us. The sofabed was solid and had a 10yr guarantee which seemed quite impressive. I will continue with my memory foam mattress on the old sofa from outside whilst im still not good.

WM is on and DW has been on and emptied. Toilet cleaned and house generally ok. Ironing still has to be done and there seems to be lots again but mainly OH's stuff:confused:

Does anyone know how easy it is to build a website or costings to have one built? A friend is trying to advertise a cake business but she doesnt use the web much and there is a whole other market there avilable to her.

Abel & Cole came whilst I was at the hospital yesterday and TBH I am not impressed with the quality of the sweet pots and the cauli. The sweet pots have some mould on them and the cauli has that manky smell when it's just turning.

We have the Lentil, Spinach and Goats cheese pie tonight with boiled spuds, roasted veg and cauli cheese so will see if its ok. I bought a squash too and it seems quite soft:confused:

Anyway, I need some tea and toast.

    Hugs to all.

Work should be fun though as I'm taking a lady on a sponsored horse ride for the Riding for the Disabled association then later we're taking 2 service users to a disco.

OSiness - washing about to go out on the line, house reasonably clean and tidy, ironing will have to wait till tomorrow, tea for DH is Pizza from the freezer(his choice) I'm having mine for free at work.

DG - all I know about Pau is that DHs pigeons sometime race from there!

    Morning peeps

cool and dull this morning but at least its dry outside for now, no washing to hang out and am working the late shift this afternoon so if it does rain i`m hoping that it will hold off until the doggies are walked.

I`ve just emptied the freezer and bashed everything that can be bashed into shape with the rolling pin lol, everything now fits much better and i checked my inventory and got a few things out to thaw so there is now a small amount of space. I got myself a nice piece of cod out to thaw for my tea later so will probably have that with cauliflower cheese and buttered broccolli. Dh will be having a full roast dinner with pork that i made yesterday, i made two and plated them up so that when he comes home from w*rk he can just pop a plate in the microwave - very handy for when i`m on this shift as leaving him to fend for himself foodwise is never a good idea :rotfl:

Mummysaver - The slicer that i got was the cookworks one, i did look at the other one that lakeland sells and it took me ages to decide between the two. It is an absolute nightmare to clean though, i would take it back to the shop on this note alone but i shall keep it simply because i can see what an enormous saving it will make and quite quickly too. I`ve decided to re box it until the kitchen is sorted out (i`m emptying it atm for a refurb) and i shall take it out and batch slice, that way the cleaning is kept to a minimum and i shall have a nice supply of sandwich meats etc in the freezer. All the little ham crumbs have been mixed into a mustard mayonnaise this morning for sandwiches, DH has taken them to w*rk and there is easily enough for another day so no waste at all :j

I need to s&s the bathroom and bedroom and hopefully i shall get the chance to pop to Morrisons to look through the 30p veg, i`m not holding my breath though as i shall be pushed for time if i do. The houndies are waiting for their walk so i`d better pull on my jeans and set off.

Essex girl - Hope kitty is improving.

Donny gal - I`m pleased to say that i managed a full 7 hours sleep last night and woke at a reasonable 6.50 this morning :D enjoy your trip!

    Bargainbird - ((((HUGS))))

    Have a good day everyone.

    Hello guys,
The house is quiet now although i have two kids here at the moment. My youngest DS 's hip is hurting him again today - i spoke too soon the other day! So a day resting for him - its the only way. My DD is off college today as usual for a wednesday. She has a dietician appointment later as she has a significant weight problem which we have been trying to tackle for the last year. She has not lost any but has stayed the same. It worries me greatly as i want her to live a long and healthy life but its so hard to tackle on a daily basis.

Im going to MK for a little look and have booked my mobility scooter so can get around. Im participating in a focus group whilst Im there which should be interesting.

Hope everyone doing ok. My thoughts are with Bargainbird.
    Hugs,
    Molly

    Morning everyone :hello:

Happy Birthday master Bitsy. :D And try to calm down Mrs Bitsy. :p I'm sure it will all be fine. xxx
Still thinking of you and yours Clare. xxx

Just having a coffee before I head into the office. I will be glad to see the back of this week and I'm doing no office work next week as the chickens will come at the weekend and I want to settle them in and do some things in the garden.

Have just made egg mayo for sandwiches in work and will take in some banana bread for elevenses. OH has fajitas from the freezer for his lunch. it's been great to have so much freezer food this week while I've been so busy.

The girls have a friend coming this afternoon and they all have recorder group so I'll nip to the shops for more fruit while they're there.
Tea will be sausage, mash, brocolli and corn on the cob for everyone. Dtwins have also requested more yorkshire puds.

After hunting for weeks for a new pair of black leather knee high boots I had come to terms with having to spend the guts of £100 for the pair I wanted but had a wander round the charity shops yesterday and found a brand new pair (ex Next) for £5. :money: Also picked up some brandy balloons which I've wanted for ages.

Trying to keep on top of the knitting atm but am finding OH's jumper hard going and boring so I am breaking the monotony up by knitting little flowers for a corsage for me. :D
Thanks for the link to Attic24 the other day Thrifty. I am hooked. ;):D

    Off to get ready.

    Haribo x
  • Morning all

Why is it that on my day off I wake up earlier than I would for work?!

I had breakfast of fried egg on toast, and now have no idea what to do next! Which is quite a nice feeling. I was planning on going balackberry picking, but my friend text me last night to say that her and her sister plus sister's new baby were going for coffee today and did I want to come. I haven't met new baby yet so I want to go but she doesn't know what time yet!

I've also got to find 5 books that I can donate to Ikea to get the free £5 voucher, good timing as me and friend are taking a trip there on Friday (nearest store is an hour away). Normally it wouldn't be a problem to find 5 books to donate, but I've left all my old books at parents house and I think I only have unread ones in my flat!

Pennypincher is the Lentil, Spinach and Goats cheese pie homemade? If so do you have a recipe for it? Also could the goats cheese be substituted with another cheese cos I can't eat goats cheese?

Bargainbird - your family are in my thoughts

    Have a good day all

    Good morning all!

Well the slight tickle in my throat yesterday has turned into a cold, pah! Everytime I get a cold these days it heads straight for my sinuses, anyway, all dosed up and ready for spider duty later (whilst oh clears his mum's attic I'm in charge of removing any curious arachnids!)

Have tidied up, sorted out some clean washing and put it away, sorted out animals, washed pots, bm is on and think that's it! Kids did lots of chores last night: ds hoovered, dd1 did pots from dinner, dd2 took washing off line and folded it and hung out stuff in wm, dd3 cleaned out rabbits and tidied kids bathroom - pocket money day coming up lol!

Lunches today for kids: cheese sarnes in hm bread with hm pickle, apples/plums, fruit jelly, hm fairy cakes (un-iced though cos I forgot - told them at least it won't stick to the foil!) and a few crisps.

Dinner tonight is chicken pie I think, but this could change, depending on what time I finish spider duty!

Got some lamb kebabs and large freshwater prawns last night, all reduced to 25% of original price. dd1 loves prawns, so will stir fry some for her or skewer them and do them on barbie if we manage a last one on Sunday. Got 2 packs of kebabs, not sure if kids will eat them, as they are moaning that they don't like lamb at the mo, despite it having been their fave roast meat for years! So will poss turn them in spicy moroccan stylee meatballs, they'll never know then!

Going to have a nice cuppa now and a read through, have a good day all xx

    Hi all.

Bargain Bird - thinking about you and your family.

Essex-Girl - glad that puss is getting better.

Bitsy Beans - I'm sure you'll be fine and a lot better than 'satisfactory'! As you love the children, that will shine through, and is a lot more important than form-filling, although I understand the need for that, too. Happy Birthday to your DS!

Donny-Gal - I love all of France; we've covered most of it either on four wheels or two, but the one place I couldn't take to was Angouleme - I found it very scary, as though the war was still on. It didn't help that we stayed in a horrid little 'automatic' hotel; we were given the wrong key code to get back in so, when we came back after a meal late at night, we had to wait hopefully for another guest to let us in! It was horrendously noisy all night with traffic, something we've never experienced here apart from in Paris - and DH was also really worried about how we'd get out if fire broke out! The rest of France is wonderful but I won't ever go back to Angouleme, even though it's only a short way away!

Thriftlady - how sad for your DD that her 'friend' finds what sounds like a wonderful packed lunch disgusting. Perhaps the friend is not used to proper food!

RedRuby - just caught up with the thread and sending (((hugs))) to your nephews.

Jayward - we have a water meter here in France. I think it's standard practice over here. So far, I'm more than happy with it at around €70 for four months (that's about £15-£16 per month!) There's only the two of us here so that helps, of course. I'd be interested to know how you get on with yours.

PenPin - I'd complain about the veggies you aren't happy with, otherwise they carry on sending them out - you're paying for quality and that's what you should get. Hope you feel better soon. I don't know anything about websites really, but your friend could always look at some of the free blog sites to advertise her cake business. She could also go on the techie board and ask for advice about websites there, perhaps.

Well, I should be working so I'd better go.

Haribo - am with you on the jumper front - have almost finished a cardigan for DH - just need to press and finish the front bands now. I made myself do one hour a day on it, otherwise I'd have got bored with it very quickly and abandoned it for days (weeks?) on end! I like projects which get finished more quickly!
