Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 30th September. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Morning everyone
Well MSD & SD must be having a lay in as I didn't think I was that early but I am an hour ahead of you.
:grouphug: to all not 100% and especially to Bargainbird and DH & family.
Pau, seems to be a great town, the problem is that when you have driven for 8 hours the only thing you want to do is to stay out of the car, and we are not in the centre, however, the hotel was not well signed, neither was the street name in "Bertha" and we did a car tour of Pau and met some very nice helpful people who helped us find it:T. We are opposite a Auchan Centre Commercial and the meal last night was at at Flunch, not up to the standard of the night before but very nice.
Route so far, was Monday Dunkerque, Calais, Boulogne, Abbeville, Rouen, Evreux, Dreux, Chartres, Orleans, Vierzon, Chateauroux. Tuesday Chateauroux, Oradour sur Glane, Angoueme, Bordeaux, Mont-de-Marsan Pau. Today we are going over the Pyrenees, Huesca, Zaragoza, and then see what "Bertha" suggests.
Breakfast is Weetabix in the room, and then lunch will be a sandwich made at the roadside/picnic area, with HM fruit loaf, and cookies. Tonight we should be in our house, so depending on the time, it may just been beans on toast before crashing to bed, or a cheap Chinese if we make it earlier.
OS will start again in the morning with a complete clean through.
Take care everyone.
DG
p.s. :bdaycake: for Master BitsyBeans fairy cakes for the Nursery:eek: - hope we didn't do that 20 years ago as if we did DS didn't :rotfl:definitely a new one and not an OS one.

Goodmorning,
Goodness its quiet this morning?
I hope everyone is ok?
Hugs,
MollyxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning everyone.
Its DS's 4th Birthday today. And he decided it was going to start at 4am
He's now finally asleep again but I've had to get up with DD at 6am so am feeling unreasonably grumpyI never sat down yesterday, back ached, knees ached - I'd been rushing round all daymaking DS's birthday cake and then fairy cakes to take to nursery, nursery pick up/drop off etc and I could have done with a decent nights sleep.
To top it all off Ofsted rang yesterday and they are coming either this Friday or next to do my first inspection. So am now bricking it as this is the grading that will last the next 3-4 years. So pressure is on and am feeling quite stressed about it.
Very little in the way of OS today then am afraid, not sure if we are going to try and pop to the Harvester as a treat for tea tonight......we'll see.
No doubt I will cheer up when his lordship arises to open his many presents but now I shall have to just go and nurse a coffee whilst wishing for my bed.
Hugs to those that need them.
Have a good day OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Morning all,
bargainbird, I am so sorry for your loss
I admit to being the bringer of anti-osiness this morning, I worked from 5.45 in the morning to 22.30 in the evening yesterday and then had a rough night. I look like Amy Winehouse this morningI forgot to put the soaked beans in the fridge.... isn't black bean sauce made with fermented black beans :rotfl:
Well, our house guest now isn't coming, which I must admit is a bit of a relief as I really don't need it. OH is off to the US for two weeks on saturdayI will spring clean when he is gone (oh how exciting) and work too hard.
I must go to the market today to get veg.
donny-gal, your trip sounds amazing
have a good day all, cel x:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -
Good Morning
Many Happy Returns Master Bitsy :j
Feeling a bit more in control today, will spend sometime in the office this morning, have done loads but still a few importants bits left.
Have ironing mountain again so that will be the target for this afternoon though we may have to pop out for a business meeting if we get a phone call.
Sooty the cat is improving slowly & our remaining dog has shown no signs of missing the little one which I am surprised about. Glad it is the middle of the week am so looking forward to this weekend, hopefully it will be one without sickness or trauma.
Last week I found a Nigella cake plate with glass cover reduced on Amazon, have been after it for ages so it is now sitting in my kitchen looking lovely but with no cakes in - must get back to proper os & baking.
Off now for a quick surf, have a great day.x

Morning all,
Bargain Bird I hoppe you managed to get some sleep xx
Looks like its going to be a nice day again :T, although I am off to work.
Dinner tonight will be a cottage pie which I made last week, and a veggie one for dd, I prepared the veg yesterday so its just a case of cooking it tonight.
Garden recycling and rubbish are out this morning, I need to pack this laptop up and take it to my mums, It has stopped charging, so back it goes  its less that 4 months old, a courier will collect it from my mums.
Need to have a quick swish and swipe round before I go.
Also I read yesterday that if you are making any kind of sloe gin etc for Xmas, buy the cheapest spirit you can, and filter it through your water jug for up to 10 times, This is apparantly the only difference bwtween the cheep and expensive stuff. I did it yesterday with Mr t value vodka, and it really works :T
Happy Birthday to Mr Bitsy, have a great day xx
OK better get on, have fun all xx0 -

Hope today has less upsetting news than yesterday :grouphug: to all

I've just spend the last half an hour looking at a childminding forum I belong to for tips about the inspection. I feel sick at the thought of it now. I haven't got time to fill in the Self Evaluation Form (not compulsory but like most things it "looks" better if you've done it ). Getting a Satisfactory grade is OK but lets face it if you were a parent would you rather choose one that had a grade of Satisfactory or Good? I know which one I would
I love my job as I enjoy being with the kids and playing with them etc. BUT its the planning side I am not so hot on. Had no formal training in this area and feel that its going to let me down
I need to take some deep breaths...............and some valium.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

tea tonight will be something simple, get oh to put tomatoes under cover if its going to be cold tonight.
I'm hoping they come early as my friend is coming and we were going to go out
I'm looking for a brown coat for winter and must not be in fashion this winter
but its what i want .
hugs to all and waves too0 -
Good Morning All! Am minding DGD this morning - she woke at 6am and as I was up until 2am..... Yawn!!!
:bdaycake:Happy Birthday to Master Bitsy!
Bitsy, don't panic, I'm sure you'll be fine. Could you find half an hour to at least make some notes on the Self Evaluation Form? Then it'll be a "work in progress"!:D
Essex-Girl - glad things seem to be settling after your trauma. Hugs to the kitty.
D-G - your travels sound fun, but I expect you'll be glad to be in your own house once more.
Jayward - I think it depends on the size of your household. We've had a water meter for years and it's been a great saving - but it was fitted after DS moved out, not sure if it would have been different with his teenage habit of three loooooong showers daily!
Bargainbird - sending thoughts and prayers in your direction today.
Oh well, need to get a move on and start on the daily round. Have a good day, everyone, and ((HUGS)) to all who need one.Resolution:
Think twice before spending anything!0
