lets not forget that local libraries are a great resource but also check out this indiegogo.com/audiobooklibrary project. It will be a great resource as soon as it is live. Costing around $8 per month  for unlimited books. The more people that get involved, the greater the selection will be.
Since when has paying $8 a month been free?
If you're going to spam, the least you could do is pick an appropriate thread like you did with your other post.0 -
Does anyone know of any good freebie/cheep audio book websites running at present please? I have a grandfather with a particular interest in Lee Child's books, particularly the Jack Reacher series but it needs to be an audio book I can put on his Kindle Fire, as his eyes aren't what they were!
I've had a look around online and the prices of what I have found are shocking!
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks (first time posting - love the website!!)0 -
Some libraries subscribe to one click digital which allows you borrow audiobooks, however I don't know if it supports the Kindle Fire0

Free audiobook when you 'buy' the free ebook
Pride & Prejudice ebook 832 reviews : 4.6✫ *+Free audio version*
In this historic romance, young Elizabeth Bennet strives for love, independence and honesty in the vapid high society of 19th century England.
I already had the ebook (and enjoyed it very much), but just got the audio version for free. I believe that I had to download the audible app., and then wasn't sure about making a new account, was a little wary of being charged, etc.. Anyway, I phoned the number given on Amazon (0800 496 2279) and a really nice, helpful, American-sounding guy said I could log in with my Amazon account details (since they're related companies), and definitely hadn't been charged.
So my experience with audible so far is very good. We'll see how it goes x x x

No. It's easy to go down that route, but if you are careful then it is a free companion audiobook, and not a free trial
.
I've had eight free ebooks with their companion audiobooks now from amazon/audible and they are free
What I have found is that if you 'buy' the free ebook, then try to continue from the next page where it says something like 'because you have the ebook, you can now get the audio version for £0.00, you're heading into that 'audible free trial' territory.
What I do here is go back to the page where I 'bought' the (free) ebook, and click just a bit below where it says '.... add narration ...' then I have both versions.
Hope that's not too confusing an explanation...
If I log into audible (with my amazon details) it still tries to get me to do the free trial. My membership status shows as 'not enrolled'.
I'll post here if they try to charge me, but I don't believe they will...
So yes, you're right. Be careful0
