  • I am SO thrilled, this has actually made me join the forum to say
    <<<<<thank you!>>>>>
MSE has saved me so much money over the last year. Quidco, insurance and utilities changes, freebies, vouchers and now this! Just got myself £38 worth of books!
    Wonderful!
  • I am assuming that without a compatible mp3 player, i will be limited to listening to these on my computer.
I would LIKE to transfer things to mp3 cd to listen to them in the car. But will DRM preclude this?

    Anyone have any idea?

Many thanks from me too - downloaded 2 free books and bought 1 other too. It's a great offer and I will probably buy more from them in the future.

Got Richard Dawkins' 'The Greatest Show on Earth' and Ian Rankin's 'Complaints' both of which retail at about £20.00 in hardback. Having them on the iPod will be fantastic for walking.

  • I joined Audible a year ago. I pay around £8 a month and can download ANY book (even if it costs £30) once a month. Or pay £15 and get any two books each month. You can still download and pay the proper price for any book that is less than £8 and save that monthly credit for expensive books. If you accidentally delete it you can download it again any time. You can put it on your wife's/friend's iPod. You can rip your own legally from the public libraries CDs. I find it unbelievable listening to books I always wanted to read - whilst gardening or driving or whatever. Especially non-fiction books. Also you can hear a good elngth sample to decide if the reader is turgid or exciting. Go for it!

thanks for this just got two books worth over £60 (!!!!!!) not sure who would spend that much on 2 audio books, they seem to be 2x the price of itunes, but for the subscription its good value, went to cancel and it offered me 3 months for £3.99 so went for that as well!
  • Hi,

Can someone please confirm if the download can be an mp3 file? My old nokia supports only mp3 and few other uncommon formats only.

    Thanks

Oh god, can't believe MSE are promoting these shysters!

They've had this 'free audiobook trial' for ages. Just wait till you try to cancel.
Suddenly you'll find your email has been lost in the post, or they suddenly require three forms of identification, or there's a computer error that results in your credit card being charged for three months after you cancel, or any number of other excuses.

    Please, avoid at all costs!

They are DRM-locked, and can't be converted to standard mp3 or burned to CD (well, not legally, anyway)

Sign your partner up too, get 4 books, i did and cancelled straight after Quality
  • Anyone know what the single most expensive item is that can be downloaded on this trial ?

I found an unabridged Ulysses, usual price £53.09 (not actually signed up yet though, just curious what other massive savings there could be first).
