  • Hi all

Not slept much due to stress:rolleyes:
OH had lots of debts from setting his business up before I met him and we have been steadily paying them off. Silly boy didnt even pay his tax properly before we met but since being with me we have been paying it off every week.
Yesterday he got a bill from Taxman wanting the whole lot in one go...it is a fair few thousand:rolleyes::o:eek:...he was on the phone to them for an hour yesterday not getting very far.
Last night I wrote out his budget for him of ingoings and outgoings and an offer to increase the payments and he is going in to the tax office this morning to sort it. I will be on here later searching through for ways to live on even less:cool:
I just want all the debts gone have had enough of it.
On a lighter note DG have fun in Pau:D Thats where I used to live in France, it is such a pretty little town...say hello to Place Clemenceau and Boulevard de Pyrenees.

    :wave:Morning all,

Tuesday- I like Tuesdays, nothing much to do and Dd doesn't need picking up until 4 and no evening activities for anyone.

I enjoyed my French lesson yesterday evening, it turns out that going out in the evening isn't so bad after all.

Today I'm taking my library books back to the library and popping to the garden centre for a plant mister to use in the baking of sour dough bread -you get a good crust by spraying it with water when it goes in the oven apparently.

Other things on my list are; baking something for the lunch boxes -muffins probably, making a batch of yogurt and making quince vodka- grating quinces is not particularly easy but the end result is worth it. And laundry:rolleyes: Think I'll do a batch of granola too.

Breakfast today is berry brulee for those that want it (toast and jam for those that don't). This will use up leftover whipped cream and the last bit of yogurt in the tub.

The kids' lunchboxes have sausage and potato salad (chipolatas, potatoes and tomatoes in a mustardy dressing-from River Cottage Everyday:D), flapjacks and grapes/clementines/plums.
OH has another kedgeree pasty, flapjack, apple and clementine.
I shall have leftover lentil soup.

Supper will be potato, bacon and onion hotpot, carrots and broccoli. Haven't had that for ages.

    Morning all,

It feels a lot colder here this morning, but it looks like it might be sunny later on :T, I think the washing basket is empty, so I will have to search for some washing to put in.

Kathy, awww a kittken how lovely, when did you get him ??

General tidy round this morning, and nio to Mr T for nephews present, I am doing a toad in the hole tonight with 4 sausages, two bits of bacon cut up and half an onion, will have it with cauli and brocoli, will make dd's with veggie sausages.

Hope those who are feeling poorley or have not slept feel better soon x

Take care all, and have good days xx
  • Morning Everyone

Bargain-Bird, sending positive vibes & (((hugs))) BIL's way, hope he shows an improvement today.

MSD - Good luck with your hospital appointment.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts & words yesterday. Am feeling much improved today. Our cat is now home, didnt have a broken leg after all but has a broken cheek & a very sore leg. He eye which looked slashed is actually not too bad at all - looked worse than it was. Vets bill came in at just shy of £500  but as a family we know it is worth it. I know some people will think I am mad but she is our oldest pet & the kids would have been devastated. Both the vet & the rspca advised that I would need to get rid of the dog if we wanted to keep the cat because he would just do it again. Find a nice rehoming centre who liked him so much (and obviously hated cats) that they are thinking of keeping him themselves. It may seem harsh but if you could see the sad state of the cat it made it easier iykwim.

Anyway, everyone is a little sad but much more healthy today. DS is going back to school but I fogot to but some birthday sweets so that will be tomorrow.

Got only essential stuff done in the office yesterday so will probably be here most of the day so probably not too much os today - hopefully can get myself a bit up straight.

Off now, have a good day.x
  • Good morning everyone  DH is away, so I spent yesterday baking:
    • 2 apple braids
    • a pear frangipane tart (recipe on the "Pears" thread"
    • 2 loaves of bread
    • minestrone soup from the carcase stock I made the day before
    • 2 apple pies
    • a sponge cake
    • spicy beef casserole
    • rhubarb and ginger jam
Some of the baking will go into the freezer, but you're all welcome to come round and help us eat it :j Off to work soon, with one of the apple braids (I'm cycling, so I'll take a separate pot of icing, as I don;t think it'll travel well in my rucksack ;))

Essex girl - hope the cat is better soon, and not too much more expense :A

thriftlady - may I have berry brulee for my breakfast, please :D

Diva - love the first line of your sig :T

  • Morning everyone.

I'd just like to say you all cheer me up when reading your posts. I know our lives aren't full of spend spend spend but I just love to catch up on what you do with your days etc. I just love the simple life (most of the time ;))

Going to be spending the day round at my mums making DS's birthday cake for tomorrow (eek he's going to be 4!!!). It will be another joint effort :D It's along the lines of the Saturn 5 rocket (since he's so heavily into space etc.). Will post a pic when it's eventually completed.
So am trying to get some cleaning done now whilst the kids are fairly happy. House looks like a tip  kids are still full of snot (DS is talking like he has golf balls at the back of his throat so not sure at the mo if he'll be going to nursery).
So washing, cleaning to do and not much really in the way of OS :o (unless you count home made cake and cake decorating LOL!).

Anyway hugs to those that need them.
Have a good day OS or not.

DG - have a lovely time, sounds like bliss :D
Essexgirl - glad puddy cat is a bit better x
Bargainbird - still thinking of you and the family xx
Pen-pin - you put me to shame with what you made yesterday!! You busy little bee.
Diva - hope all is well at hospital appointment.
Mioliere - love the idea of your kitty patting your leg to remind you of his presence :rotfl:

PS Just remembered I have to make some cakes for DS to take to nursery tomorrow for his birthday. Going to make some fairy cakes but then will have to ice them too!!! Gonna be a busy day today

    Morning all,

Well the dust storms has finally gone. Hopefully it will be a very long time until they return. DS2 is on the island atm on his leave so most days pops on up for a chat. Hard to stay motivated once he goes. Made a chicken, leek & corn pie for tea tonight. Had no leeks so just used onion. DH brought home some strawberries from the market so I've made a crumble for dessert.

I'm buying a Bamboo Door Hanger atm. I can't decide which one I want though. I'm a real ditherer but I *think* I've got one chosen now. :D It's really dry atm. I wish we'd get some rain. We have new people that have taken over with the catering at the Bowls Club thank goodness at the weekend. We're all going on Friday night for tea. Had another few wins at Bingo last night so that was good. :D

Essexgirl Glad the cat isn't as bad as you first thought.
Molly Glad you're feeling a bit brighter today.
    DG Have fun.

Hope you all have a great day. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

  • thriftlady - may I have berry brulee for my breakfast, please :D
Yes! I have some leftover. It was yummy, ds2 didn't partake but then I knew he wouldn't. He adores fruit but not he's too keen on berries and likes his fruit raw. We'll finish it up for pud tonight after I've ladled some into a jiffy bag and fedexed it up to East Yorks :D

I really must have a go at an apple braid, I've yet to try it. Is it good lunchbox fodder?

    Hi Guys,
NPM - we all seem to have been awake at night recently. Hope he gets his tax sorted. He is going in with a plan and budget so it shows that you have been thinking about it.

Essex Girl - we had a birthday like your son's a couple of years ago. My daughter was 15 and my dog got hold of one of my guinea pigs and it was horrible as you can imagine. My youngest son was devastated as he had let him out into the garden as guinea was being cleaned out. Unfortunately for some terrier type dogs its part of their nature to "hunt". Mine also want to catch anything that moves!!!

Well the kids have left the house.:j:j My DS (15) lost 20 pounds yesterday which he had to buy revision guides:mad: Have just replaced it so lets hope he manages to keep hold of it. It really annoyed me that he had been so careless but he was quite sorry.

    Hope all ok,
    Love Molly
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Good morning,

I made banana muffins yesterday, but not the apple pies, so that will be this mornings job. I will make 2 saucer sized apple pies and freeze them uncooked, and I'm going to make some individual apple pies with whatever is left over.

Then, I plan to make my Christmas cake. I know it's a bit early, but I'm off work, ds is at school and dh is still away, so I have the house to myself. I have no other plans for the day, so can happily mooch round the house while it is baking.

Essexgirl, I'm glad your cat will be ok.

Mioliere you've made me want a kitty again!

Pen pen I'd love to come and try your baking, but given how I got lost going to Holmfirth, I may not make it back here before ds comes out of school :rotfl:

    Take care all of you
