Ooh yes, I couldn't agree more!

Stumbled across your thread and subscribed straight away - good luck with the journey! (I can't stand it when people say that on reality TV, but for some reason it seems fitting to use it for becoming DF...)

Off to catch up, bye for now :D

ETA: Loved your fantasy list - I reckon after losing 6 stone, you've got a shot at quite a few of those!! Congratulations on the payrise and interview and second interview and getting the flat ready to rent and getting your boy on board etc Seems like things are going your way at the moment - yay! Keep it up!

Hi Poddle, thanks for reading my ramblings! :hello:

When you said congratulations about all those things it has just made me realise how much has happened in the last month! It's quite scary to think really...

Today's exciting news is that I've got one person coming to see the flat tomorrow evening already! And I've printed out a load of adverts and stuck them up around work and we are going to put some up around the university tonight...

It's payday tomorrow too and I have managed to end the month with £2.27 left in the bank and £12.02 in my purse. Considering that is the 3rd month on the trot that has happened I am feeling a real sense of achievement.

Things are going well at the moment, I think it is self-perpetuating, the better it goes the easier it is to stick to it. The real test will come when something goes wrong. But, I'll just have to suck it up and deal with it when it does...the best thing is knowing that I can always come on here for support when things are going good or bad. It's an extremely comforting thought...:A

Right, need to get soem work done this afternoon. Efficiency is my middle name  !

    xx

  • Hi Katy -

You sound like your doing great - Also it's nice when OH finally takes an interest. Mine gave me his credit card on Monday and asked me to "work my magic" on it lol

It's a big deal to hear that as he's always been very much "it's normal to be in debt, we live in a society where everyone is in debt" - grrrrrrrrrr

Anyway keep up the good work hun xxx

Thanks moneytroubles, it is a big help having OH on board...particulary when I have just given him pasta and cheesy potato skins for tea. Told him it was fusion food! :D

Yeah, it is an interesting attitude, that whole "ah but everyone is in debt" thing. I feel like picking them up and plonking them in front of this site! Don't know about you but I feel like I have been let in on a wonderful secret and I want to spread the word...xx

I feel the same! I was out of work for about 6 months and MSE was like a religion! My family and friends think it's amusing that I talk about Martin like he's someone I actually know :D but I couldn't have coped without him, thanks Martin!

Hope the flat viewing goes well tonight x

Have got 3 viewings on the flat today :j fingers crossed someone will be interested. Had one last night - a young couple but I think I got a bit too excited and spoke too much! Need to try and keep it calm and more professional today.

Weighed myself this morning - am back to my normal weight, after my week of walking and eating sensibly. This week's plan is to get back into the exercise. Am dog-sitting for my parents tonight so I'll get a good walk with the dog and then I might try and get for a swim tomorrow. Am really pleased though, I feel a bit better about myself.

Mmm, there are pumpkins on Saturday kitchen, think I might buy one and make some soup, I've always fancied trying it. And pumpkin pie - maybe might buy two. I'm sure we had carved turnips when I was a kid, they must have been a nightmare.

In debt-busting news got a letter from scottish power yesterday telling me I am £150 in credit. Can't wait till the flat is rented and I can get a refund. Reckon I should get a bit of a council tax refund too...virgin, I will defeat you!!!

Right, need to get ready to go and meet my first viewing. Don't think my pajamas and blanket would make the best impression.

    xx

Good news on the credit on the power Katy - hope the flat viewings have gone wel too and someone wants to take it, it will make such a difference for you won't it. Well done on getting back to your normal weight too, I keep thinking I want to lose a few pounds but in all honesty I know from experience that I have to feel a lot more motivat4ed before anything will actually happen.

I too know where people are coming from with the "it's normal to be in debt" thing - frustrating, isn't it! It does become second nature to follow the "MSE WAY :money:" once you get used to it too, I can't believe how much our outlook on stuff has changed over the last year and a half, and possible more telling, how much happier I am with our financial situation now than before.....that's the real crux of it to me - we're spending less on living as well, I have a real grip on the finances and it's actually made me happier than I was before too, which is marvellous! :D
