Hi all, wll update sig later as my lappy is playing up and can't open the spreadsheet I use to record my GC.
Have been to MrMs tonight with DD! but was less that impressed. Spent a grand total of £3.61 and that included £1.49 for a birthday card!!
Oh and I are going on hols next Thursday so will be eating stuff out of the freezer mostly for the next week. I just can't wait as work has been really stressful lately and we are both in need of a good break.0 -
Well, I just sat down and did a spreadsheet for the past 4-5 weeks of grocery shopping, and now I'm nearly in tears. My weekly food/grocery budget is £50, and so far I've only managed to keep within it 3 times in 5 weeks. I thought I was doing much better than this, so I really need to double check the spending. I've updated my sig so you can have a good laugh, and we'll see how we make out till the end of the month. I have £21 left in the budget until Saturday, and the menu plans are done for the week so fingers crossed! On a side note, I've had a rotten cold for the past 2 weeks so it may be that not feeling well has stuffed up the spending controls, but who knows?
Better put in for the November challenge so I'm going for £215.:jMoney saving eco friendly Fertility reflexology specialist :j0 -

Absolutely no-one will be laughing at you hun, we have all had weeks/months where our budget has gone the wrong way. All that we can do is to look back, learn and move on. Don't get upset about it. Feeling ill can be a real downer when it comes to shopping as we tend to throw stuff in the basket that is easy to cook or stuff that will hopefully cheer us up so as you start to feel better you'll probably get back to normal. Loads of people I know are starting to go down with this rotten cold and its making people feel awful, I hope you are over the worst and start to feel better soon.
And on a positive note you are under budget and have only got a few days left so you may still come in under your monthly figure which would be great so hang on to that thought.

rowsew, Helen has said it perfectly! be kind to yourself;
when we feel unwell everything looks worse somehow. Can you remember how much were you spending before you started on the GC? I bet it was a lot more than you're spending now, so give yourself some credit for what you have achieved... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

DH got paid today, 3 days early so technically November starts for us now, though I guess this makes it a long month .....
If anyone is setting our budgets could mine for Nov be £350 please ? Do I need to wait and post this agin in the Nov GC thread when it opens?
I am hoping to reduce this further but dont want to run before I can walk
Thanks
JillJan GC: £202.65/£450 (as of 4-1-12)
NSDs: 3
Walk to school: 2/47
Bloater challenge: £0/0lbs0 -
Hi, could I join in please with a budget for Novmber of £200? Thanks0

Popped into morrisons yesterday but was very controlled and only bought what was on my list - came to £5.50 so total so far this month is £110 (I'm still not sure how:rolleyes:)
Dinner last night was vegetable, lentil+chickpea curry with naan bread, which was surprisingly tasty considering it was really just a concoction of random stuff I had left over, and the remains of the crumble+custard. Tonight I am making tandoori chicken (packet mix found in the cupboard, mixed with natural yoghurt) with rice.
Hope everyone has a lovely day...and hope the rain stays awayx
Sept GC lost track/£160
Oct GC /£1600 -
ok few bits to add on as i've not been on line much and not feeling up to doing anything as we have still been an ill household and the littlest one got sick and shes been really bad so not much sleep happening at night time here. anyway
weekly shop was £103.69 (got a few thignsw put away for halloween in with this though)
few bits and bobs amounting to £27.77
so total to be added to sig £131.46DEBT
31/12/2018 = £21,740.10 - 31/12/2019 = £18,581.29 (14.53% PD)
31/01/2020 - £18,685.22 (14.05% PD)0 -
Welcome to all newbies, you will enjoy it here, everyone is so encouraging and full of great ideas of how to make your food go further and save money. Just think, in a few months you will look back at your pre-GC days and wonder how you ever managed to spend so much per month! I certainly have, and I am still trying to cut my monthly spending.
Another NSD for me yesterday, only 4 left to get in 10 days, should be do-able, I hope!
Life has been much more manageable since I started doing two online shops a month with Mr T . I am not well enough to get out to the shops to do any "proper" shopping, so doing these on-line orders and with DH popping into Lidl/Aldi up to twice a month, keeps our spending down (most of the time!). Of course going online means I buy other stuff too...a bit dangerous!
Today won't be an NSD as I have trips to my physio and therapist today, both will be paid by cheque. DH is ferrying me to and from the therapist, we may stop off at Lidl on the way home, not sure if I will go in, l see how I feel at the time. I'd rather do it today so that tomorrow can be an NSD, sneaky!
Right off to have a shower and get some things done before going off to the physio. She is only 5 minutes drive away, so I am able to drive there myself. Wonder if I will need to use the swear-box today, it has been filling up since I started!! She it doing me some good, honest!
Have a good day everyone.
