Hi people!!

Bear with me as I'm a newbie to here, but is anyone else getting married in 2012 and already planning??!!

I feel like I'm the only one. Plus everyone looks at you as if you are stupid when you mention the date. My dad works at the Royal Armouries and they're already taking bookings for 2013!!

I've been reading the wedding threads to get some ideas and thanks for all the tips!

Just stuck on venues in Surrey now though and I know many will already be booked up as we want a christmas wedding (anytime from 27th-31st) Hubby-2-be has his heart on a New Years Eve Wedding though!

  • I was in the same position as you a year ago - H2B proposed in July 2008 and we set the date pretty much immediately in 2011. We didn't book the venue until this year though.

As you say, some venues get booked up pretty far in advance. New years eve might be a popular date too.

Congratulations, by the way. Stick around - you'll get loads of ideas!

    Yeah,
But the costs of weddings down south are so expensive compared to in Yorkshire. Some venues charge £8000 excluding catering and VAT! Plus to be fair, I don't wanna spend all that unless it's with an open bar! lol
    How about you hun?
  • Well everything OH has suggesting was coming out at around the 15k mark, but there's no way we could afford that PLUS saving for a deposit on a house. So we've cut down our guest list and cut back on the things that we don't "need". We're aiming to spend no more than £6,000 excluding the honeymoon.

  • HI, me and oh are planning a 2012 wedding. We've been looking at venues but there are so many beautiful one's out there its so hard to make a decision. I'm hoping for either a Novemeber or august wedding. I've also seen the most beautiful dress too.

    Hi Lenga,
congrats and welcome to 2012 brides! lol
Thanks clearing-out-your-pockets, I'll have a look through the venues! Very helpful.
I know what you mean about saving money. We're looking at running our own nursery (daycare) so we're puliing on the reigns too!

    Hello I'm a 2012 b2b too!!

Glad I'm not alone!! This weekend we've found our venue to - didn't really need to do it this soon but I knew I'd be more relaxed once I'd found it. Hopefully going to book it soon. I've found my dress to, I just need someone to make it!!

I'm a 2012 bride 2 be too! It just fits in with savings and house etc (will get house when OH gets back from Afghan next year and will need time to do it up, then plan wedding).

I am finding it difficult enough just to imagine where to have it in order to restrict my guest list! Current thinking is Iceland, last week was Gibraltar, he wants to stay in the UK. It's all a bit hard as my parents don't get on and my friends and family live at the other end of the country anyway, so venue isn't important to me.

We got together on 06/06/06, engaged on 09/09/09 so 12/12/12 is looking lucky for us. He can't stand the heat, so that would work well. Just not sure people would come before Xmas. Hence, the running away!

    Good luck ladies!
