I have no qualms when they've been at work all day etc, it's the lazy !!!!!!s who think it's hilarious to walk in and expect you to be nice to them.
I work ten hour days-why on Earth would I want to stay any longer than absolute necessary?!
Annoying though it may be - perhaps they haven't had all day0 -

Not my problem.
Take it up with the management.
I couldn't give a fig if you have worked 24 hours solid, if the store is still serving customers, then I am still shopping.0 -

Not my problem - this is common practice in shops and the only way to stop it is to shut the tills at the advertised closing time - not allow customers to wander around and then moan because I can't decided which make of fish finger i want for tea.
You are there to serve me - end of story.
Sorry, but it's attitudes like this that remind me why I got out of shop work as quickly as I could.
Some customers were polite and well mannered, but a great number thought that I was dirt and so should be treated as such.
A policy like the one you mentioned would just cause idiotic customers to go off on one at poor staff when they were told they could not buy.0 -
Couple of Christmas Eves ago I popped into my local Tescos for lightbulbs 15 minutes before they were due to close. I was gobsmacked at how many people were walking into the store with trolleys (some had two) amd obviously just starting their Christmas food shop. Unreal !I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
Anybody can tell what I can do next?
I went shopping in Tesco this afternoon (Sunday). I am sorry I didn't shopping on Sunday for long time. When I almost finished my shopping, somebody came to me and shouted that I had five minutes for shopping. I just noticed it was almost at 4. I rushed to take a box of egg when I was near to the egg shelves. Then I would run for a bottle of cooking oil, but when I arrived near to the oil shelves, I met two staff of Tesco. I pointed to the oil shelves and said: I need a botttle of oil, otherwise I can't cook today. Two wouldn't hear me. I stopped and tried to say: could you please take one for me? But before I said, one of the staff said: if you don't go now,I would push you out! Then Both of them came to my sides and tried to pull me out! I run to my friend who was checking out. The staff came with me and were very near to me and shouted where I should go and didn't give a second to let me explain I was going to my friend who also kept my other items. It seems I am a real enemy to them!
I didn't get any oil even if I have been in a hand reach distance to it! I really don't want to get into Tesco again but I still have 50 pounds vouchers from it. I even don't know where I can go and for what to complain. I feel very disappointed that there even such staff in Tesco! What kind of company's culture is it in Tesco! Every little help! How ridiculous! Is there a little bit respect to their customer?
I am a woman and don't look like having nothing to do but intended to waste time and fight with them or destroy their store. I really haven't any cooking oil at home.
don't beleive a word of this, like tesco staff would frogmarch you out of the store!!!
you wer probably sauntering about and they wer trying to close the shop. I've been in the supermarket at closing time and have never seen anyone treated like that0 -
I think the OP is a wind up merchant. Tesco staff manhandled you? What nonsense. And you 'couldn't cook with oil' Why not, is there something wrong with your cooking skills? Your parents own a supermarket, which you could have quite easily used!0

I would never treat shop staff like dirt, BUT you ARE there to serve me.
It seems more and more staff see customers as an annoyance rather than the reason they are employed.0 -

The landlord of my local say much the same, to quote "they have had all day to drink so why do they turn up at closing time and expect to be served until 3 in the morning?"0 -
This is obv a wind up but I disagree with advent. I work in a shop and can see why sales assistants see customers as an inconvenience. I got sworn at the other week because I wouldn't return a pair of pierced earrings as our policy clearly states that we will not return them. I don't go into their work and swear at them, why should I have to put up with that at my work? Its because we get treated so badly that we feel that way. A lot of customers are annoying and unless you have worked in retail then you really have no idea what its like.
Its not easy to provide good customer service when (as in my case) your manager is giving you hassle. Nobody ever thinks about that. Oh for the day I can get out of retail!0
