Can you go on the website/email somebody to ask what the dress code is where you are going? On the whole I beleive american dress is quite dress down unless you are very corporate. Go to your library or big WHSmith and look at the latest copies of american mags to see what is in 'vogue' there. Do you have smart cardies/v necks or no you need a jacket. Layering is key. Skirts are good as if it is hot you can go bar legged or tights if it is cold (not with fit flops though!)
Dress code is smart casual (except sales, who wear suits), so I'm hoping that I've got it about right. I've got a linen pencil skirt with a fine-knit V-neck top, which needs tights & shoes with it, linen trousers that can be worn with either a wrap around cardigan or a pale pink linen shirt, another pair of linen trousers that go with either the light pink or dark pink shirt, and a longer linen skirt which goes with either of the shirts. I wear vests under all the tops. And the trousers and long skirts can be worn without tights/socks and with mules. My legs are a bit battered and bruised from the canal boat, but they are (relatively) fuzz-free!
So I think I'll probably be OK (must remember sunglasses!) when I'm there, but I do need to work out what to wear on the plane.
I need to put a LOT of effort into getting fit & healthy and losing weight again, as travelling will be a lot more comfortable . And once I've done that I can really sort my wardrobe out. I have lots of hobbs black trousers, suits I can dress down etc, but may need some more tops (mind you, I opened my camphor-wood chest and I appear to have quite a bit of cashmere stashed away!)
Off to buy 9volt batteries (for my tens machine), nail brushes, a new make-up bag (mind died), ibuprofen, paracetamol and possibly some facial wipes if I can get chemical-free ones. Otherwise I'll have to take my cleanser and a muslin cloth.
I guess if I take both (mind you, two wheely suitcases will be a nightmare) I can at least take plenty of gym kit!0 -

Greenbee have you got your ESTA visa yet?
I would advise some sandals for Florida, it'll be warm, very warm. For clothes I'd go for light cotton blouses and work trousers (for the work thing) and maybe very light cargo type pants and vest tops for mooching around. Maybe 1 or 2 maxi type dresses for evenings out. Swimming costume.
Hats, baseball caps if you like, dunno about you but I can't stand having a hot head. Obviously everywhere inside is air conditioned so be aware for skin drying out there too.
If you're not keen on flying maybe this'll help, I'm listening to it daily now on my ipod in preparation.
Don't forget mosquito repellent, very good moisturisor for face and body (dry heat) and lip balm (dry heat again).
We've got to get packing too as we're off to Vegas soon.DFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

:bdaycake:Happy Birthday fedup
Afternoon all. Not much housework going on but plenty of coughing and nose blowing. Cheesed off with it now.
No washing done either, it's wet and windy and it can wait until tomorrow when it's supposed to be dry.
Hope everyone's OK.0 -

Ironing finally finished and put away, hurrah! Just need to find my list now...
Sometimes I just pop a skirt over my nightshirt - and then go back to bed LOL
e-bay have credited my account with fees from a failed sale - 'customer' bid on the x box I was selling (which was photographed WITHOUT a controller) then decided he didn't want it (after auction end) because there was no controlller - but it was MY fault for not communicating for over a week? - dates don't tally with what was in my in box but I have no intention of arguing it - I relisted and resold! So I can finally give DS's mate the fees less costs.

and a GREAT BIG FAT STAR for the master bedroom. Have completely redorated it, including all the gloss work, so there isnt a fleck of dust in there!! Its lovely too. It was covered in scribbles from when it was the boys room and now I feel like Im sleeping in a hotel room, GORGEOUS!!!
Well done you - bet you grin widely every time you walk in. I decorated my bedroom 4 years ago now and it STILL makes me happy and proud. For about two weeks I slept in a mess on half a bed as the other half was stacked with stuff. I recently swapped two white bedside cabinets for one drawer set (donated by my baby sister) and that small change has made a tiny bit more space...
In fact when OH went I redecorated the WHOLEhouse with help from my mother - then I redid the kids rooms and I am very proud of myself.
The worst bit was that the coving in DS's room had been painted hyacinth blue by ex OH (I would have done it white to match the ceiling.) One half term I repainted that coving white three times to cover the blue. Surprisingly it made the room appear MUCH larger.
Mind you exOH also painted all the wood in blue emulsion. I had to repaint it in white prior to glossing it properly.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

But they were letters so no tracking
Oh Greenbee what about jetlag?
apparently (I read this in a book once and it has stayed with me) if you make insoles out of brown paper and wear them in flight you won't get jetlag! Just stand on paper and draw round it and cut them out...Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
