Hi,
I saw the EA Sports on the game website and thought it looked pretty good. How would you compare it to the Wii fit/plus? I only started the Wii fit plus last week so I don't want to rush out and buy anything else just yet... but maybe in the future I'd like something a bit more challenging.
I think EA sports active is probably more "high impact" than Wii fit ( Have not played Wii fit plus). There is a greater focus on working out and by doing the pre set workouts you can keep your heart rate at a high level when you are working out.
The thing is, they both bring different things to the table. Wii fit has the yoga and I really like the ability to be able to do the step aerobics whilst watching tv. Both are good agmes and people will achieve results from both imo as long as they put the effort in.0 -
OH and I treated ourselves to a Wii and Wii Fit Plus for Christmas and we are pleased we did.
We have enjoyed using both but I did feel that the Wii Fit Plus was a bit like "playing at keeping fit" , certainly better than nothing but not motivating and structured enough for my taste. I have in the past ben an active gym goer and like the idea of a structured workout with feedback.
We then bought Wii Active and really like it. On Day 10 of my 30 day challenge and feeling good about the results. This seems like a proper workout, not going to give the results of proper gym but very good as a substitute. We have bought a better resistance band to use though. I certainly feel that I have put some effort in when I do a workout. Using the medium intensity at the moment so have scope to move up to hard. Also find that it gives me the motivation to eat/live better as I know i have to "confess" to the Journal if I have had sugary drinks, fast food meals or not enough sleep.
We will definitly buy the Active More Workouts as well. I think I read that this brings in weighing you via the balance board which is a sad ommission in the Active product.
I now tend to do my Active workout then if I have time, spend some "fun fitness" time on the Wii Fit Plus or to do some of the yoga on there as Active does not have this. The Wii Fit Plaza always seems a nice friendly place to go and I love the little squeeky voice it has. I always smile and answer back.
I must read back through the posts on here to see how many of you are doing similar to us and if you are getting results.
PS Please can I join you all?Thank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend0 -
Have now lost a stone thanks to wii fit. :j
I have more to go, but I'm really pleased. Given that I hate sport and love chocolate, I think that's an impressive result. I wouldn't have believed the hype unless I'd tried wii fit myself. Definitely worth it!
I couldn't do the basic rhythm boxing exercise when I started, but now I do the super advanced one and I'm actually good at it. I find I get the best results from boxing and from muscle workouts - if I only do steps plus/free step, I don't shift the weight as quickly. Still, something is better than nothing - I've not gone a day without doing any wii fit. It's hard work, but it does pay off.
Hope everyone else is starting to show results too.0 -
Still doing my wii fit plus. donquine I love chocolate too although trying to give it up through doing the Paul McKenna stuff. On the wii fit I do the step, jogging cycling and had a go at the boxing today for the first time.I also like shooting the snowmen and use that as fun. Before xmas I lost 9lb so I know it works. Im better at losing weight in the summer but will persevere.0

Ive just been doing the wii fit plus for the past 10 days now and have lost an inch of the waist and 5lb to boot:T:T:T:T:T
I stick to the steps, boxing, hoops and jogging with balance games to make up my time
I must be really unfit as I have to admit I do struggle some mornings. Some mornings my back is so bad I really struggle to keep my balance and rhythm so although for some people its really "basic" exercise - its challenging enough for me atm
I will also say I have made some changes to diet - no pigging out on snacks all night, small salad for lunch instead of leaving food till Im so hungry I pig out at work on grated cheese and chips0 -
donquine, boddy and suki, well done on the weight loss, thats great!! :T
donquine, how long did it take for you to get used to the rhythm boxing? I can do the easy one but when I try the next stage I just can't seem to get my co-ordination at all. I have only tried once but tbh it kinda put me offI do like the boxing and will have to try harder lol.
I've had a bit of a chest infection so haven't done any Wii Fit for a few days now and I'm really missing it. I start with the yoga and then do some step, hula hoop, boxing and then some balance games. I'd just started to try some muscle workouts before I got sick... enjoyed it but glad I didn't try them straight awayWe've got limited space atm so some stuff is a bit difficult.
Even if you stumble, you're still moving forward.0 -

I use that one as a warm up/down game. I must admit, I don't feel like I'm burning any fat or toning up any muscles, but it is fun.I will also say I have made some changes to diet - no pigging out on snacks all night, small salad for lunch instead of leaving food till Im so hungry I pig out at work on grated cheese and chips
I've stopped snacking too. I don't get it - I would have thought that doing exercise would make me hungrier and more likely to pig out, but for the first time ever, I seem to have found some self control. I think that graph is a surprising motivator - I like to see the line go downwards, even if it's not by much.donquine, how long did it take for you to get used to the rhythm boxing? The first time I tried, I couldn't do rhythm boxing at all, so gave up. (OH had to explain to me what "block" meant - I couldn't get the hang of moving arms and legs!!) I did a lot of step plus for a while, which is another repetitive/rhythm game and when I came back to the boxing, my co-ordination was better.
When I first got back into boxing, I copied the teacher whilst he did "just watch the way I move", to give myself a bit more help. There are only so many different sets he does - you just need to stick at it until you learn what they are. I promise it does get easier - I wanted to cry the first time I attempted it as I was so crap - now it's one of my regular exercises.0 -
That grapgh for me is a HUGE motivator, as well as needing to always "beat" my last score
Sure sometimes Im not too good and theres no way Im going to get great scores, but if Im feeling good and dont get a top score - I keep at it till I do lolololol
I have the boxing unlocked and still cant get it. Im sticking to the steps, funny I can always get the fast one step perfect but the simple one - Im all over the show0 -

I can do the faster step but the slower one I get lower scores for stepping too fast. Gonna try the advanced boxing tomorrow... I'm already worrying about it for some reason
If it was all about the hula hoop I'd be onto a winner :rotfl:Done 6 minutes this aft and was chuffed with myself then it unlocked to 10 minutes  Oh No I love hula hoop soooo much I know I won't be able to resist 10 minutes tomorrowso the boxing might be out the window already hehe.

I know it's not exactly exercise but it's good fun.Even if you stumble, you're still moving forward.0
