Christmas Tree's - What will you use? what will go on yours?

Always had a real tree when I was growing up - can't beat the smell!
Had years of using an artificial one as couldn't get a 10ft real one home from the garden centre in my little car - but last year got a 10ft Christmas tree delivered to my door from www.scottishchristmastrees.co.uk.
Great service - ordered it in late October and choose the date it was to be delivered (end of November so it could go up on 1st Dec). I'm doing the same again this year but also going to buy a little pot grown one to put out on the front step - with any luck I can pot it on and keep it alive for years to come, saving me money every year.
Didn't have a problem with it dropping needles - I got a Fraser Fir which is a long way from the old fashioned prickly trees that i remember. The needles were soft and stayed on really well - it was in a cool part of the room away from the radiator and fire which i think helped.0 -
Hi everyone,
when i was younger my stepdad refused to get a real tree and only allowed us to have a 4ft artificial one ! ( he was a right scrooge, made us pick one present each and wait until we had all unwrapped them and folded the paper to use again next year)
anyway we have had a real tree for the past 5 years but i am a bit worried of the prices, we usually got it from a garden center but last year found a bloke that sell then cheapish got a 7ft norweigan (sp//) spruce for £28 and it lasted well into new year. .
spoke to the bloke who runs it and he said the trees will be going up by £10-£20 this year.
would we be better off getting a pre lit artificial tree that we an use for years ! and where would i get a decent looking one !
i need help0 -

That reminds me of the first Doctor Who Christmas special (the one with the killer Christmas tree!).
I think we're getting a real one again - we've always had a real tree for as long as I can remember. It'll be decorated with all the same decorations we've had for years - knitted stockings which we put Cadbury Heroes/Celebrations chocolates in (cheaper than buying specific tree chocolates), candy canes, crackers, red bows, white lights, no tinsel, a star on top and various other red and gold decorations on the branches (including my personal favourite, a model of the cinema from 'It's A Wonderful Life' that you put a Christmas tree light in which my sister brought back from the States).
I'll also have my little blue and green wooden Christmas tree with the silver star on the window in my bedroom (bought at the Pier just before I went to uni because I wanted a proper Christmas tree to look at in December!).
I do love our Christmas tree as it's sort of evolved over the years - some of the decorations are things that my sisters and I made when we were children and it's just got so many memories attached to it because of all that. In a slightly sad way I'm really going to miss it when I eventually move out!"A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
I'm having my black tree that I got in m and s sale a couple of years ago for a fiver. I have seen some gorgeous pink decs in the range this year and really fancy getting them!! I need new lights as last years got broken when we moved house! I also have a set of ive stars that hang in a curtain on the wondow which are going on the patio door. We are getting married on December 5th so the decorations are going up on the first to get us in the mood! I normally wouldn't put them up that early but really want to this year! im having a green artificial one i know that much for sure!
but me and dh are currently arguing because i love big trees, at least 7ft tall and really wide too and i cant stand fibre optic ones. but he likes small fibre optic.
a couple of years ago we got rid of the 7ft tree because ds was 11months and i was 8 months pregnant so couldnt be picking it up all the time that ds pushed it over. so we have had a 5ft fibre optic for the past 2 years!
i want to go back to a big one as the kids actually listen to the word no now!but dh is happy with the one we've got. although it is actually broken and has to be propped up in a corner or it falls lol!
so hes decided if i want a new one i have to pay for it! better get saving then i guess!0 -
I bought a tree quite a few years ago and it came with all the co-ordinating decorations. Not very origional I know but I like it and it makes putting it up hassle free leaving me more time each year to focus on the other fun aspects of xmas!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

Here's a piccie of my christmas tree ....... after 5 years I still absolutely love it
It's like a tree that has been cut in half and hangs on the wall.
Each year with DD, we make a new star glitter photo frame from lolly sticks and her piccie takes pride of place.A creative mess is better than tidy idleness0 -
Last year for the first time ever I bought an artificial christmas tree. It came complete with decorations and lights all very tasteful. And cheap reduced from £70 to £6 that was just after christmas the year before.
Anyway my ds said it ruined christmas. So we have all been saving our coppers this year all year to buy a real one. And all the decorations from all the years and all the missmactching decorations will be on it.
That's what they all want.
