I love the "twiggy" trees! A couple of years ago, Evans shop had the most beautifull ones as their window display - white twiggy with blue fibre optic lights on the end (wrong colour scheme though!)
I went in and tried to buy one when xmas was over but they were having none of it. They wouldn't even tell me were they got them from!

  • We've always had an artificial tree and I prefer them. We threw our one out last christmas as it was getting more and more scraggy every year and I knew that if we didn't bin it then I'd never get around to getting a new one! So, this year we're looking for a dark green bog standard 7ft tree but it's difficult to get when they're 7ft. We always have multicoloured lights and heaps of colourful homemade decorations. I don't like it when all the decorations match or look too perfect.
  • We have an an artificial tree. Its quite new but the old one smelt as I stored it in a damp building. I tried all sorts to get rid of the smell but I was always aware of it. Our decorations are the same every year. We use a sort of star on the top which was bought 38yrs ago!!!! I don't think my daughter would forgive me if I changed it now. Its like taking out old freinds when I unpack the decorations box each year.

    Thanks!

We have a jack Russell who insists on snooping around under the tree when its up and he always knocks the bottom level of decorations off or gets his tail caught on the lights cable and drags the whole thing. So thinking I have a foot stool in the kitchen (one of these plastic ones but its about chest height on him so that and then the tree should clear him easily.

Might sound harsh but we don't have him in the living room on Xmas morning until its time for his presents - hes locked out at night as hes a rescue male dog he has issues marking territory so doesn't think about cocking his leg on new things in the house. Plus hes a serial chewer so if he caught a wiff of something he'd wreck wrapping etc before we were in and if we have him in in the morning he steals toys to chew - he does this anyway so hes watched constantly but think Christmas morning would be like a kid in toys r us with him!

Should also add we have a 6ft tree which i love. No idea of decoration schemes yet - was thinking bronze and cream too but i prefer the traditional red, green and gold!

Riasing it just that little bit can really help. It's surprising how much, actually. Our tree was only knocked over once last year which is pretty good compared to the 30 or 40 times it was knocked over before we raised it up.

I hope it helps with your Jack Russell too. He's less likely to chew it if he cant reach it so easily as well!

  • Last year, Singapore jeweler Soo Kee Jewellery created this Christmas tree with 21,798 diamonds totaling 913 carats and 3,762 crystal beads. The tree looked like (and was actually worth) a million bucks!

Pretty Cool, might not look so good in daylight with the lights off though.
