Kayleigh, when I started running, I couldn't run to the end of the street, so don't worry about being a beginner - get your trainers on and just go out and run for a couple of minutes, then walk.
The next time, run a bit further, until you're doing all running and no walking.
Some people suggest alternating between walking and running, and have to admit, it works for me sometimes, but the running thread peeps reckon you're more likely to get injured that way so I guess it's better to be safe than sorry.
I used to walk a lot before I started running, so I think that's why I increased the distance I could run quite quickly, but I really want to do a half marathon next spring so I need to start doing more.
I think the main thing that's stopping me from taking up running (on my own at least) is thinking that I might get lost and be stuck miles from home when I need to get somewhere. I've been known to do that when walking, let alone running. Maybe it's worth me thinking about joining the campus gym. It's only just opened this year and they're running a lot of classes. In fact, by the looks of it, they might have taken over the Yoga and Pilates classes. I have big problems with motivation (as you know!) so I think any running I did do would have to be done as part of a group. I might see if I can talk Amy into going with me, she might be interested.

Kayleigh...while i was at the gym I was watching the news...(it was subtitled) so I was reading it really...they were talking about a new programme that is on sky real lives week after next ..my big fat cycle challenge.
The british olympic cycling training team were challenged to get four women to lose weight. The trainer was talking about using the 'chimp philosophy' on the women to retrain the emotional side of their eating and motivation. It looked really interesting and might be of some interestQuality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

It sounds like it would be, it's just a pity I don't have Sky. Do you think it'll be on any regular channels (or Youtube) afterwards?
