They even tacitly acknowledge this themselves - they used to be "proud to be different", now they're just "proud to be a building society".0 -
Like the creator of this thread, Nationwide's support of MS Money was the final reason I was sticking with them after being a customer for over 25 years (mortgage, multiple accounts managed via MS Money). I was tolerating their dreadful customer service, poor interest rates, dropping worldwide fee-free card usage etc, but this is the last straw.
At least it gives me the push needed to find a financial service instution that cares for their customers.
Wonder if it's worth sending a note to R4's Moneybox?0 -
Blame Microsoft for stopping support for Money, not Nationwide for recognising that fact!0

I whole heartely agree with all of the comments about the Nationwide and their very poor customer service. I have requested that they restart sending me paper statements by way of protest. Maybe we should have a poll to see how many people used the MS Money download facility?0

MS Money was so convenient. Are there any other banks that allow synchronisation?0

Final straw for me, I have now applied for a new current account with another bank.
MS Money download was the only thing that kept me with Nationwide after they gradually removed every benefit of being with them.
The fact that they will not provide an alternative manual download like every other bank is annoying me the most. I can understand stopping the sync due to MS support finishing but not providing a OFX or QIF download instead is poor customer service.0 -

I disagree. Every other bank I have tried supports qif downloadable statements. It would be fairly easy for Nationwide to implement this if they cared about their customers. Just waiting for alliance and leicester to transfer my direct debits over then all is sorted!0 -
Might not look so bad if Nationwide hadn't actually recommended and supplied MS Money in the first place. The least they could do is ensure that their downloadable statements are in a format it can accept, as I have written in a complaint to them.0

I've managed to regain import of my Nationwide account data from their online banking site into MS Money by using the free MT2OFX utility to convert the downloadable csv files into OFX format. I've also managed to automate it as far as possible using Firefox such that all that is required is to click the 'download text file' link, and then one more click of 'OK' generates the required OFX file and MS Money sees it and imports it.
Seems to work pretty well. The disadvantage over the old 'direct' method from within Money is that you need to do this individually for each Nationwide account you are interested in which involves a bit of navigation between accounts (the old method did all available accounts in one go). MT2OFX also took a little bit of setting up and vbs script modification to do with inconsistencies in the formatting of csv files across different Nationwide accounts.
Not perfect, but not as far off as I initially thought things might be when I first heard about the withdrawal of direct support, and the downloaded data seems just as complete as before. I was initially going to ditch Nationwide altogether because of this, but having got my system going and effectively gained OFX support then its not now really any worse than going anywhere else, since no other UK bank ever supported direct download into Money anyway.0 -
I tried MT2OFX today and converted a Nationwide CSV, but when I try to import it into Money, Money pops up 'A communication error occurred. Please try your call again'. It seems to think it's communicating directly with NW. I don't know how to turn off the setting in Money to link directly to Nationwide. Anyone else had this?0
