Thanks Shazjack,
I am sure they could check the IP's. In fact it may even be on the info that the handling company send them automatically. I run a comp club and have looked into how these companies set up comps and it is all done by a handling company who send the persons running the comp all the relevant info. I would say IP's are relevant. This way they can detect comping syndicates etc. and disqualify the individual if they want for the present and indeed all future comps. Hope this helps.
Interesting that these are your first and only posts on this site then
Frankly I don't believe the rule about syndicates applies here & I would doubt that Magic would be spending time checking ip adresses any way. They'd have a job checking mine since it changes regularly. (I am not on a fixed ip) However you have a right to your opinion, I'm just choosing to ignore it.:DThanks to all who post comps :A :T0 -

I agree, also if people don't want others to claim for them if they're out/not about, then don't send your details to people, if you find it to be too risky. Simple as.0 -

I dont understand the comment about this being my first and only post. What's that meant to mean? I registered with MSE quite some time ago but just because I haven't posted on it does that imply something then?
I was only bringing it to the attention of anyone interested. I didn't know IP addresses change regularly, mine certainly doesn't, mine is always the same as far as I was aware. But if that's the case, fair enough, you've got nothing to worry about then.Other people maybe the same as me and theirs doesn't change so they may find that they are disqualifying people who have innocently thought it would be a good idea to help with claiming. I don't think Magic FM would check all IP's, but they may check the ones that win, before parting with their money. I know I would if I was running a comp, which is why I posted this comment on here. If I have caused any offence please accept my apologies I was just trying to be helpful. If people still wish to take the chance, then that, as you say, is their choice.0 -
Some ISP's provide static ips others have changing ips.
To see what your ip address is (and other information that your browser sends out) try this link.
I think gailforce has raised a relevant point but I guess it's up to each individual how they act upon it.
Are Magic likely to check the ip address of each entry - I doubt it, but the point is *they can and could*.:T*Thanks to all who posts comps * :j0 -
i do wonder did bonkers have this many issues with terms and conditions, there must be similarities lolA big thank you to all those who post on the forum and make it a worthwhile place!!!:j0

True, but i'd like to think that i'd rather there was a possibility for example if my details came out and it was for £100 or so, that i would receive the cheque if someone else claimed for me rather than me missing it and waiting for my details to come out again.0 -

Well maybe I'm just a deeply suspicious personhowever, there have been a number of occasions on threads similar to this where someone has posted for the first time to tell people they are breaking the rules & I for one find that odd.
That being said I firmly believe that Magic's rules do not say anywhere that a person cannot claim on another person's behalf. What if I went out & left my Hubby watching? What about offices full of people watching out for each other? I'm sure this is happening & I'm sure that this is within the spirit of the rules, but if you are really worried there is an e-mail address further back on this thread, I'm sure they'll be pleased to hear from you. Thanks to all who post comps :A :T0 -

You'd be no worse of if someone else claimed in your absence - and then magic notice this and then void the claim. As after all, if you weren't there to check you would have missed it anyway!
Plenty of people have had others claim for them (and I believe they have received their cheques) so I think Magic aren't really paying that much attention!:T*Thanks to all who posts comps * :j0
