Hi all.

I've been following this thread having registered with Magic FM recently. I was just wondering about the issue of claiming for someone else. If they get several claims from the same IP address, (which is the number coming out of your computer line really) won't they reasise that someone is claiming for other people? Surely it is easily detected by them, and won't match up with the computer the person registered on. I know people can claim on a different computer if they are at work or something, but if one or two people are claiming from the same IP address all the time, they will be able to tell and then the claims will be cancelled per the rules.? I'm sure it said that three was one entry per household and if so then only one claim per IP address would be accepted.

Sorry to be pessimistic, but I don't think it's a good idea to do this claiming for others. It's a shame because you all seem such nice people who genuinely want to help each other but I am concerned that people won't be entitled to their claims.

I agree and don't think your being pessimistic. When I registered I contacted Magic FM to ask if my daughter could register also at the same address was told no only one winner. Never thought about the IP address also being picked up - good point.

I am sure they could check the IP's. In fact it may even be on the info that the handling company send them automatically. I run a comp club and have looked into how these companies set up comps and it is all done by a handling company who send the persons running the comp all the relevant info. I would say IP's are relevant. This way they can detect comping syndicates etc. and disqualify the individual if they want for the present and indeed all future comps. Hope this helps.

just reading up on ip addresses and they are generally used to locate an area secondly ips can change/be changed
