Whooohooo - Go Nathan - glad he's feeling better Luc :T

Lou - fingers crossed for everything today

Bookie - I'd go sit where ever it is you need to sign on and make it clear that you're not leaving until something is sorted.

Builders have been back, rubbed down the plaster, painted it and all by 9am! :T

Gorgeous weather here today - about 22 and sunny - managed a very slow walk with DH down to the beach where we sat like old people with a flask and some sarnies...the walk home was another matter but we made it in the end and he's now gone to bed.

Thought the washing machine had died this morning when it started yelling at me in bleeps.....turned out the builders hadn't turned the water on when they reconnected it.....muppets!

Right people-I need to pick collective brains....we have just been turned down for re mortgage, despite it only being 65k on a 700k house, having NO debts, and a great income. Have looked at Credit ref report, and the only things it could be are an old debt that was defaulted-although settled in 2006. (Not our debt, nasty BIL took out credit card in DH name and didn't pay up..we foolishly did thinking it was for the best-only £350 anyway, but def shows settled)and possibly the fact that DH often takes cash out on his credit card (as you all know, he's abroad a lot,and sometimes debit card doesn't work-you know how it is..) ..the question is, wheres the best place on here to ask about it? What to do about it??
    Thanks all, SRM x

I am not the best at these things but it seems mortgages are being turned down more on affordability these days....not saying you can't afford it but look at how much you are borrowing against annual income. They may also look at the industry your OH is in and that may be a blackmark against him given the current climate.

sounds like a mixed bag of a day pooky..... but at least a lovely walk with OH, even though he is a bit knackered now... better than staring at 4 walls... and if he's having a kip now, you get to chill as well!

3 x should be okay....is overtime/extra etc included - they may discount that now.

the default may be enough to stop the mortgage, is it with your current provider. Shop around...my colleague did. Her current provider wouldn't lend because of a satisfied ccj and despite the fact they were good customers...but they got one elsewhere.

A lot of the whole of market mortgage advisors don't have access to the whole of the market now....I would hate to have to be trying to get a mortgage....

  • No,it was a change of lender. Bank we currently have mortgage with turned him down for a CC last year-even though we had mortgage with them for 20 years and never missed a payment! Is it because we pay back in full every month?
