Just like to add that there is something so liberating about answering the phone now. They go through there standard spiel(sp) on the phone and you just listen to it knowing that when it comes to your turn to speak you can just give them your BR details and tell them that the OR will be in touch with them soon.
When I left court that was probably what was on my mind most, just waiting for that 1st phone call and be able to say it someone. It did make it sink in more.Bankrupt 07/10/2009

Hello folks. I have been lurking on this board for a few weeks since I took advice and was recommended to petition for BR. Although I know it was the right thing to do, it still feels really awful. I didn't cry in court, but I did when I came out. Sometimes when they are all so nice to you, it makes you more emotional. I wish I could say it feels like a relief but it doesn't. Our situation is a bit more complicated, and I don't want to bore you all with it now, but let's just say, we have (had) a lot more "things" to lose. I know that they aren't what matters, and I still have my lovely family, but it feels very hard right now.0

Hi Darnet welcome to the October club, hopefully things will start to improve for you now.
I went to the co-op today to finalise my account ready for Monday, cant believe how quick last 2 weeks have gone! Im hoping i can hold it together at the hearing and mark the 12th as a new chapter in my life (one free from my ex and his debt!)0 -
I'm sorry you're having a hard time of it Darnit. I think it can get a bit sentimental for everyone on the day looking back at all they've been through, but it must be a lot more difficult for some. I hope things get better in the future. As you say, just remember you have your family (and your health I hope!) and everything else will eventually get better.
My brother is having complicated surgery this month and I've been trying my hardest not to get myself over-worried. Yesterday I had a financial scare and it was like the whole world collapsed - until I remembered about my brother and came to. Then I got very angry at myself at having let finances get to me so much.
Really hope you feel better soon.BR 22/10/2009 ED 08/07/20100 -
Thanks folks. I am trying to pull myself together with a bottle of medicinal red wine saved for tonight! I think for some people it means the end of certain dreams, which it is hard to let go of. I am trying to find some new, inexpensive things to do with my time. I have spent so long juggling work, the business and finances, I suddenly feel a bit lost. It is like my brain doesn't know what else to think about! Even though most of it was stressful and hard work.0

Congrats and well done to those who've done the 'deed' over these past few days
Small update on us, we've finally got the full £1020 together for us both to BR. It's kind of killing me having the money sat there when we're stuggling to buy food at the minute but I know that this time this month we won't have these worries, it's more bearable now the the end is finally in sight.
On a positive note, we've had written confirmation from our new landlord that we'll get the keys for our new house on the 25th. It's all been a bit up in arms with us trying to find a private landlord as most letting agents round here wouldn't touch us with a bargepole. Our new landlords are emigrating so are having to tie up their own last few bits before we can move in (which is what has been holding us up) so it's great to know that as of the 25th we'll most definitely have a roof over our heads :T:j BSC Supporter 290 :jDreading but looking forward to BR date- 27/10/09 @ 9:30am****No. 1 October 2009 Club*****Previously known as *br* on MSE**0 -
....and that we'll be able to send the keys to the house which has majorly contributed to the state we're in back to the mortgage company! Well its done! Went to court this morning went to the magistrates instead of county court and soon realised my mistake! Went into an office and was told that the clerk I needed to see had disapeared waited 40 mins for the other clerks to argue amongst themselves and finally one of them did my paper work. Once the paperwork was done only waited 5 mins before seeing the judge in another office. He asked me about my house and commented about not getting myself into a similar situation in the future and that was it. Went back to the first office spoke to the OR assistant on the phone and she told me what would happen next (pack in the post) and I was free to go. Not sure how i feel really but glad this bits out of the way and it was a lot easier than i thought hardest part was finding the right court!!0
