Hi, taking my papers into court on Monday so will all be sorted. I am not worried about going br as I know this is the best decision, but it is difficult dealing with my sister who does not understand why I am going down this route. Has anyone else had problems with family not being supportive??? I was managing my debt until I returned to university full time in September while also trying to work full time to keep up to date with payments! Have now left uni, but not been able to improve finances!
I've had lots of trouble with our families Tori so your not the only one. My parents have been nothing but supportive, they've even given us the money to pay for a deposit on a new rented house as they can see it's our only option and it wouldn't be a route we'd take if there was a better alternative.
OH's parents haven't taken it so well, as well as his sisters. There's been lots of screaming and shouting about how irresponsible we are but we've just taken it all on the chin. WE know why and how we've ended up in this mess and it's not been through stupidity, a lot of our debt has been spent on living costs but as an outsider they don't see that and struggle to get past their rather old fashioned views on BR. We've not given them any details of our debts (christ that would cause WW3! :rotfl:) but we've just sat down and calmly explained why BR is our best option.
Now they understand the BR process better things have calmed down a lot, it just takes some people longer than others to get round it but I'm sure once they realise BR is your best option things will get much better and you'll find they'll be more supportive:j BSC Supporter 290 :jDreading but looking forward to BR date- 27/10/09 @ 9:30am****No. 1 October 2009 Club*****Previously known as *br* on MSE**0 -

Hi everyone, welcome to the October 2009
Bankruptcy & Debt Relief Order Club.
This club is for everyone who has gone through the process of Bankruptcy/Debt Relief Order during October 2009. So please feel free to join and post.
Pop your name on here, the date that you went/are going Bankrupt/DRO and the stage that you are at in your Bankruptcy. And then just keep everyone in the club updated throughout the next year about your journey through Bankruptcy. That way we can all stick together and compare notes and we will be there to support each other throughout the different stages in our Bankruptcy/DRO.Remember this is your board so keep posting.Obviously anyone can come on here and post anything that will help us all and you are all welcome. Any important questions that do need answering are maybe still better posted on the main board but if you do put it on here, then maybe we can help each other.Hopefully it will be an extra place for friendship and support as we compare notes and discuss what is happening with our Bankruptcies & DRO's.published by fairyblue publications ltd.

Not been on forum for so long, Ive forgotten how to put entry in so apologies for repeating all of the lovely welcoming words above.
OH and I are off to Court tomorrow. We originally applied for br in Aug but have had to wait until tomorrow for a court date. Dont know how that compares to others' experiences...
Does this mean we are the first in October???? Im actually okay about it, but I have literally just come out of hospital after an op and it could be the strong painkillers giving a rather rosy tint on life. OH has gone into his usual withdrawal, moody way of dealing with the stress and is really stressing about tomorrow!
I think it has been so long in coming that it will be a relief to get it out of the way. Im dreading the OR interview more!!
Just a quick note to say try and apply for remission of the court fee , even if you think you have a slim chance. The CAB advised me to do it as I am on incapacity benefit and the process was so simple with the court. I didnt have to pay and in fact the OR office told us I wouldnt have to pay when we visited them first to lodge the paperwork etc/pay them our OR fees.
Good luck to the other members of the October club and i shall look forward to sharing and hearing experiences. Lisa x0 -

Thanks to everyone who has wished us luck for tomorrow. You really are all lovely people and i wish I'd been on the forum more when things were really tough. Waiting since beginning of Aug has been tough as we geared ourselves up to appearing in court that day or very soon and to wait until Oct has been bit stressful...0

Forgot to ask. Do we have to take any paperwork with us to Court? Our petition has been stamped and returned to us so we assume we take that.
But OH is panicking about the other paperwork like SOA and reason for br. We have received the spare copies back from the court so would it be worth taking those or is just the petition sufficient???
Cheers Lisa x Ps I got carried away with being the first members of Oct club that I forgot this was my initial reason for checking out the forum again! Doh! I shall just blame those strong painkillers again!0
