Elle - As others have said, don't take it to heart, it is not personal and they probably barely read the application first time round.

My dad even got refused first time and had to go and see one of 'their' stupid doctors for an assessment during his appeal process. He fell off the top of an electricity pylon, died twice in the air ambulance and ended up with a bad head injury meaning he suffered dizziness and temporal memory loss and a knee/leg so badly damaged he was in a wheelchair for the first year after spending 6mths in hospital. He eventually managed to be able to hobble about the house but couldn't use stairs or walk for any distance outside.......They still tried their hardest to say he would be able to work!!!!!!!! They really wind me up, trying to deny those most in need, yet any old drug addict can get signed off onto benefits as unfit for work Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

Right I tried Kai with an 'adult' dinner, he had carrot, broccoli, cauli, and grated cheese.....it took him a while and to be honest he kept doing the 'letting it fall out of his open mouth thing' with that too....but at least I could just leave him to it and he did eventually start to munch on a few bits, so I think I will perservere with a mixture of this type of feeding and spoon feeding him cottage pie etc as I was doing...hopefully he will just decide he wants to eat one day!!!

Someone asked about bottles yest....yes he gobbles 4 8oz bottles down a day, I did try reducing this to see if he would up his food intake but it made no difference so I put it back to 8oz so at least I know he is getting his nutrients....

In my dads case of DLA, they said that a prosthetic limb was not a walking aid as he didnt need a stick or a wheelchair !!! Took 2 appeals for them to understand that if he didnt have the limb, he would not be able to walk !!

HaHa that was exactly the same with my dad... he had a below knee amputation and he got the same reaction!!! (being nosey MM how far down is his amputation?) Dad also made the mistake of saying he could walk 150yds and that didnt help either....

Breakfast in bed or is that too generic? Living room picnics?

(sorry SS no anti-germanness there just being Sigmund Freud :D)

:rotfl:I'm not German, don't worry about it ;)
Actually, the coolest part of my job so far was that we had a conference at the Anna Freud Institute and a conference dinner at the Freud Museum. The conference organiser allowed us all to sit on Freud's chair and lie on his couch :j
My biggest problem is that I like things to be organised my way, but I also want Husband to feel involved with Molly, but as soon as he doesn't do things my way I get !!!!!! off. And I can't sleep during the day so I get really tired, and then I let Husband sleep in the early evening because Molly's likely to be up in the night and he looks after the nocturnal yelling, so I can't sleep then either and so I get overtired and sad. This evening I resolve to work around all potential problems and be happy.

Elle, that's awful - but you can and should appeal. My friend's mother fostered a kid whose DLA was rejected. The kid has Down's syndrome  My brother's was also denied at first. I'd recommend Portage too - they were great for my mother and brother.

Funny - I'd thought of training to be a doula/breastfeeding counsellor too :o

Feelie, I've just been following your list and from one boob I've managed more than from both yesterday (and still going!). You're a rockstar!!

I've just come back to the window: last expressing count was 110mls. Thanks feelie :A

Update on my friend who's in the hospital: she's doing fine but is looking at about another 4-5 weeks on total bedrest followed by sofa rest. She's 27+2 at the moment and the baby's just over 1kg.

Why does my GP surgery keep cutting me off after telling me they're experiencing high call volumes  its a blooming lo-call number too  If they opened the phone lines at 8am not 8:30 I bet I could get through, how very dae they not want to open at an ungodly hour :p

    eta I'm on hold!

eta again, got on the triage list, I swear they don't give anyone an 'emergency appointment'

All surgeries in Wigan should have telephone access from 8am now - it got changed in June, the Out of Hours service used to cover from 8am til half past but they refused to do it anymore and the PCT said all surgeries had to answer their calls and deal with any emergencies. In fact, they used to ring up at 8am to check might be worth a call to the PCT

Fitzio - I am very jealous that Holly sleeps for so long! We had a 3am and a 6am feed last night

3 - cant believe ML has finished already!

Feelie - I agree with SM & Bruno & Weezl. Your OH does sound very controlling, mine used to be a bit like this when we first got together. He said he trusted me but not other people so tried to dictate what I did, I was always a confident person but he kinda knocked it out of me a bit and having huge boobs didn't help either - it was always my fault if someone looked at me or stared. In the end I got so annoyed, I had it out with him and thankfully it worked and he has grown up a lot since then which has helped massively. And after my boob jobs I got my confidence back :j

We are all here if you need us - don't think you have to go through it alone :grouphug:

Elle - deffo appeal DLA decision!

right that's me caught up! Been into work to see the girls who weren't in last time, Jack was fussed over loads and woke up for a bit so they got to see his beautiful blue eyes! He is now spark out in his bouncy chair and has been since about 4pm :T

Still having problems with his feeding, one of the docs in work says it might be colic but I'm not so sure. :confused:If anyone has any suggestions I would be grateful

Basically for the last 2 weeks, he has about 70-80ml, spits bottle out and starts crying, seems to take ages to wind him, he wants the bottle so I put it in his mouth but after 2 sucks he starts gagging and starts crying again - then we go 2 sucks, out before he cries, pop it back in! Takes !!!!!!!g ages and he can have anywhere from 90-150ml when feeding, doesn't seem to matter if it's night or day. Maybe one bottle out of 10 he will drink the full 150ml no problems.

This is what I have done so far
Tried Infant Gaviscon - no good so back on Infacol (now up to 2 doses per feed)
Switched to vari-flow teats but he sucks too fast and couldn't swallow the milk so back to slow flow
Tried feeding him lying flat, slight upright and upright (seems to prefer flat at first and then upright when he cries)
Changed his milk to Aptamil Easy Digest (did this yesterday) so back on the vari-flow teats cos it's a thicker milk

Not sure what else I can try - it's a really painful cry. Hope someone has some ideas!!!

Dont know what to suggest Glam but just to reassure you on amounts that Leila only takes between 90ml and 150ml for a feed and she's 19 weeks. She generally has to have 2 goes to drink the full 150mls too. We have decided she has a very little tum tum and needs to wee first before she can fit the rest in!!

    thanks mookie

it was just he went from 150mls no problem to this - reassuring to know though. It just seems such a waste when he only has 90mls out of a 150ml bottle!

maybe I'll start giving him a big rest in between - bottle time now so we'll see!!

Oh forgot to put qualifications down seeing as we seem to be listing them out
1 A, 1 B and 6 C's at GCSE (first year to ever take them), 2 E's at A level (and an N!) , City & Guilds GNVQ in Construction (Distinction) after a year of Surveying degree and then being made redundant...

Glam, have you tried the number 2 teats? They are not the same as the vari flow. You could buy 1 pack and give them a try?

Now DH is talking of buying house next door and knocking through.. but its a council house.

    and we're also poor.

he has a below knee amputation too due to circulation problems with diabeties !! Although he still smokes and drinks so I can say he did nothing to help the situation
