Aw it will all be worth it when you get in there scruffy! I love those first few days in a new house! Although the process of moving is heartbreaking (especially as I now have boxes that haven't been opened for over 7 years!!!)
I am shattered - off to bed. Night all. xxxplease listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
Bizziebaby question:
Would you give something a bad review? I am trying to write my chocolate review and it is pretty scathing...do I tone it down?

Morning!
Not been on for ages, have tried to keep up but not read for a few days.
Well I'm going to try bridesmaid dresses on this morning for my sisters wedding next year so looking forward to that:)
Hope you are all well, congratulations mel!!
For those of you BFing - did you find that baby didn't put on as much weight/as quickly than bottle fed babies? I was looking at Josh's weight when he was the same age as Caitlyn and he was a pound heavier. I though t Caitlyn would be bigger than him as she was longer and heavier at birth.Sealed Pot Challenge #817 £50 banked0 -
My parents are both English (from Coventry) but moved to Wales just before I was born - my Dad learnt Welsh because he was working a lot with farmers who didn't speak much English. I went to a Welsh primary school and was fluent in Welsh until I moved to England with my mum when I was 5 or 6 so lost the language.
My 2 sisters stayed with my Dad and so both went to Welsh medium schools (as they also spoke Welsh) - there was always 2 groups 'The Welsh, Welsh' and 'The English Welsh'. It was a bit clique as the Welsh kids always thought they were better than the English.
I moved back at age 11 and went to a more English school about 10 miles away, however all the school plays were in Welsh every year which was annoying cos I'm quite a good singer but never got the opportunity to take part. I was always looked down on whenever I visited the village where the Welsh school was because I was 'English' but a few words with my scary Essex accent soon shut them up! They all thought I was a hardnut - very funny as I'm 5 foot nothing and have never had a proper fight in my life!!
My little sister who is 9 goes to a welsh medium school and at that age I don't think it as much of a problem, I also think that times have changed a lot over the last 10-12 years so there isn't so much of a divide.
I would say that living in Cardiff things will be a lot different to my experience as I was in a very rural area in Pembrokeshire (imagine 3 miles to nearest bus stop!!) so I would say that to give Fergie the best start in life send him to a Welsh Medium school because he will be bi-lingual from an early age which will help him pick up other languages quickly (I got A's in Welsh and French at GSCE), being able to speak Welsh will be a major advantage when he comes to start work ( so long away!!!) and you and DH will also be able to learn with him.
One thing you will find is that as he grows up he will lapse in and out of both languages - I would point to something red and ask my sister what colour was it -
She would say 'Coch',
Me 'What is it in English?'
Sis 'Coch'
Me 'No in English'
Sis 'Coch'
Me 'It's red'
Sis 'That's what I said, Coch' :rotfl:
Hope that helps, kind of turned into a bit of my life story
Thank you Glam, I really appreciate those thoughts:A:D:beer:. Our local english-medium schools are failing and so the options seem to be:
Welsh school, where the 3 little girls on one side of us and the little boy and 2 girls on the other side of us are going/will go (depending on age) it's about 1.5 miles away and there's a daily bus.
Religious school, the Anglican (called church in Wales here) school is doing fairly well, but is full of the middle class kids whose parents don't want them to go to the 2 local primaries which are mainly muslim Arabic+Urdu speaking as a first language.
Private school, the one we'd probably choose is this one if anyone's interested.
The third option would probably be hardest, both financially:eek: and in terms of how we'd feel about justifying it to people. DH's family and some of our friends would probably struggle the most with it (or at least, do it audibly!).
I find this quite tricky because a lot of people do fund their child's education by paying more on their house price to live in a catchment area of a good school. In Cardiff this is currently a 100,000 house price difference. That's a lot of years of school fees! Plus you are paying huge amounts of interest when this is on a mortgage. And you are contributing to the profits of a bank, rather than helping to pay teacher's wages,
Somehow it won't be seen like that though!
I feel uncomfortable about playing the Welsh or religious cards in order to get Fergie into a better school. I don't want to 'use' God or the Welsh language as my adopted cause in order to meet my selfish aims. (Not that I am completely non-religious, but you know what I mean!)
Glam, I understand the cliquiness and the sense that welsh-welsh is better than english-welsh that you spoke about. Our good friend now in Canada had a similar experience in Pembs, she's from Lamphey. I was interested that you thought it would be different in Cardiff, and I think I agree. One side neighbours are Welsh-welsh and they relate and play very well with the english-welsh children who are our neighbours the other side.
Phew! What a long post! I guess I am just thinking aloud, please feel free to offer any thoughts anyone!money_maker wrote: »am I the only one that serves room temp bottles??

I'm not SB but I'll chip in!
I think bizziebaby will lose it's credibility as a customer review website if the reviews aren't 100% honest, and a balance of positive and negative feedback.. It also feels wrong if the reviewers feel in anyway obliged to give a good review.
So I'd say:, publish! And be damned;)I know u didn't ask me but I have a friend that grew up with english only speaking parents but was sent to welsh school; he told me he found it incredibly hard to read and spell because the 2 languages were so different and his parents couldn't help him and he had dyslexia on top of that
Thanks Sami, that's well worth knowing. More to add to my thinking

Morning all xx
Feels very weird to not have Daniel here on a Monday morning?? Oh well busy day here, sofas are coming :j and I have to take the dog to the vets for his vaccinations, so he won't be my friend later on
Looks like a dismal day here and it's eerily quiet what with the children being off and me living near the local primary school.Mummy to D born 21/04/09 and S born 09/05/120 -
That's just reminded me - Bob needs to go to the vets for his annual jab too! I'm off work for three days, so I'll take him before I go to work on Thursday. It's easier going on my own than dragging the dog and all three children there! Here I go again on my own....0

Andrew's oxygen requirements came down again and, when I left, he was breathing just air :j :j :j Just phoned, and he's still going! Three cupfeeds overnight without needing O2, he's doing just fantastic. Maybe home soon?:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls
