    Dear Rhys,

The fairies are very sad and sorry but they are having to fly a little slower this week because some bad ogres called 'Royal Mail strikes' are fighting with them. They will win the battle and bring the handsome prince his cube at the end of their adventure.

Daniel has decided that now he has acquired a 3rd tooth (top one now) he thinks it's a good idea to grind them together! That noise goes through me

Weather looks ok here today, once i've had brekkie we are off to my Grandmas for lunch and a bit of shopping round the local precinct.

the reason i picked c&g over sma to the disgust of the mw :p:rotfl:
We gave Alice a small amount of formula in the first week and OH chose Cow and Gate because they'd sent us a free toy cow.

nothing against sma, its just my impression of the packaging. I was on sma after BFing - no idea how long mum BFed me hough...
Is it not in your baby book?
Funny thing is, when I was in hospital no-one even asked if I was BF, I might of actually tried if someone had given me a push and shown me, not like my mum agreed with it, said If I breastfed I better not do it in the living room (can you see why I got depression livin there?) OH was upset I didn't BF but didn't make a huge deal out of it, and I caught staph, not sure if that would of passed onto Keira through BF anyways? I wouldnt of been able to keep it up because they wouldnt let me take her into hospital when I was admitted for 5days anyways
That's very interesting that they never even suggested it. It could be that the hospital is generally not very BF friendly but since younger mums are less likely to breastfeed I wonder whether they just assumed you wouldn't because of your age and therefore didn't promote it?

I forgot to tell you I saw a green stokke one my hols and one with the carseat on just after I got back - like busses you don't see one for ages and then 2 come along at once
They're all just pushchairs to me.

susan: in the light of my work badness, I'm thinking about budget for baby 2 quite seriously. I remember you were kind enough to post a linkie to your calculations for second baby, but I can't seem to find it now. Is there any chance you could re-post it? Thanks :)

I forgot to add £80 for electricity and £240 for food. That is what I worked out we spent extra because of Alice in the first year.

Electricity I compared our usage in the first year with our usage in the previous two years in the same house. It worked out that it increased by more or less 50% which I was suprised by but I think it was mainly due to the increased use of the washing machine. Now I just count a third of the electricity usage as being attributable to Alice but will do a comparison when the next one comes along to see if it increases by an equivalent amount again (which obviously would be 33% rather than 50%).

Food I looked at our increase in food expenditure after allowing for inflation and then halfed it because we'd spent less the previous year due to me not eating as much. These days I calculate Alice's % of our food expenditure by using the figures from the USDA thrifty plan.

I haven't included costs of things like going swimming because we would be going for Alice anyway so wouldn't cost any more because of the new baby.

I've also reduced my breastpump figure since then but that probably isn't relevant to you anyway.

(And for the benefit of anyone who is wondering - I'm not pregnant, I just like to plan in advance.)

Krystal: Ed has done that wailing thing too, it was a classic tooth cutting sign wit Chris but not so with Ed although one was followed by a forceful sounding trump so maybe it was a bit of wind that was silent  who knows with these baby creatures :p

Weezl: selfish I know but I'd rather get all the money from selling stuff :o Charity begins at home ;)
    also loving the letter! :T

Speaking of Harvest Festival IL's church did a good thing this year; As finding a charity to accept food donations in this H&S society  is quite difficult they decided to have a food bring n buy sale, it went down a storm and there were some very funky looking home grown organic veg from some too:) profits were given to charidee obv

We've got to stay at home until the warmfront man and the kash4klothes man have been. When Alice woke up she requested pancakes and church. (We usually have pancakes for breakfast on Sundays.) We told her it wasn't Sunday so then she said she needed to go to Beamish. After being told it was too wet, she asked for the library. I told her the library was closed so them she decided to aim low and said, "We need to go to the Co-op?" (Except that she said "cop" so it took a while to work out what she meant.)
