Harley - is she getting enough of a mouthful of breast? She needs to be taking much more than the nipple into her mouth...you may be best having someone talk it through with you, there is a number in Krystals sig which goes through to a BF counsellor who is sometimes based near to you...will go find it.

Are there any Booby Groups near you? The abolute best thing to do is to let a trained BF counsellor have a look at your latch and help you out.

(((HUGS))) it does get better and easier. When she is latched right you shouldn't have any pain at all.

Harley go back a few pages to find a post by Krystal and call the number in her sig.
if she is on wrong and you can tell (ie your gripping the sofa with ur free hand ;)) pop your lil finger in her mouth to break the sucion and get her off to have another go.
I found it was easir to get Ed on properly when he was calm, not sure if she cries when hungry but if she does, try to pre-empt and feed her before she gets to crying IYSWIM
I'm sure it'll work out for you, I almost gave up from the pain but said just one more day and hat day he just 'got it' and the pain was gone completely not long after :) xx

Harley - as MFD said - she's a wise woman dontyaknow!

I fed my first and third with absolutely no problems at all - but no.2 was horrendous! The difference was that she latched on with a tiny mouth, so was only getting the nipple - rather than a good mouthful of boobie. I ended up with cracked blistered nipples and excruciating pain.

The advice from my very helpful hv at the time, was to feed through the pain! Erm, i'd rather stick pins in my eyes!

I gave up after a very short time - and really regret it. I'm sure if someone had shown me how to make her get a mouthful, we'd have lasted longer.

Not sure if you could speak to a bf counsellor this evening - so not much help! But do try to get to a boobie group asap!

That's a good point Sami - a baby that is not properly latched on struggles to feed effectively and so can get more unhappy and stressed because they are more hungry etc - it's a viscious cycle. You need to relax as much as possible and break the seal if you feel baby is latched incorrectly.

Harley - feel free to PM if you need to chat (or PM Krystal, she is a angel and knows much more than me!!)
