Just makes me laugh when the teens all think they're the first to do half of the things they do.
Its remembering pre-internet, top loader VHS players with remotes on a wire, 10p mixes having TEN sweets in etc that makes me feel old!

I remember no remotes, and the launch of Channel 5 and we thought we were in seventh heaven !! And the proper disco skits from the 80s in bright pink nylon with black polka dots
    OK, I am old :o:rotfl:

  • Sami, i have no idea how you manage to keep up with this thread, the pregnancy thread, be on Wikipedia and look after your boys, house, hubbie, etc. Either your supermum or you don't go out very much......??
  • I'm probably on here as much as Sami, if not more. I breastfeed and LO likes to feed regularly so I'm on here a lot.

Does that mean I'm old or young? It's old isn't it :-(

Just not quite as young as Sami ;)

*hugs* for Em and Seth.. :(

We've discovered being tickled (dried with a muslin, actually) behind the ears is the funniest thing ever :D Taken me over 90mins to get a bottle into him with several nappy change and smiling sessions interupting  Now zonked out on my shoulder, recharging his batteries for when Daddy gets home in half an hour :j Not sure he'll be too impressed to find us both still in PJs tho..

I was offered it but didnt take it. There is a slight increase risk in miscarriage, but as far as I can remember it is only something like 7% but dont quote me on that. Its a slightly more in depth test than the amnio one but other than that I dont know much sorry tara

Send her our love, and you too of course :o

  • Here it is hun

    Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS)

In this procedure, instead of amniotic fluid being taken, a small amount of tissue is taken from the young placenta (also called the chorionic layer). These cells contain the fetal chromosomes that can be tested for Down syndrome. The cells can be collected the same way as the amniocentesis, but another method is to insert a tube into the uterus through the vagina. The method depends on the mother's anatomy. CVS is usually carried out between the 10th and 12th weeks of pregnancy. Side effects to the mother are the same as with amniocentesis (above). The risk of miscarriage after CVS is slightly higher than with amniocentesis, increasing the normal risk of miscarriage to 3 to 5%. Studies have shown that the more experienced the doctor performing the CVS, the less the miscarriage rate. Early on in the use of CVS, a number of babies were identified with missing or shortened fingers or toes. However, that has been connected to the use of CVS before the 10th week of pregnancy.
Which mothers should have CVS? The same recommendations for amniocentesis apply to CVS. The decision as to use amniocentesis versus CVS is an individual one, and should be discussed thoroughly between the mother and her physician.
