I know I'm never here anymore, but I have much napping to catch up on when Himself is asleep (pregnant again), so never on the computer anymore.

I bought the cats an overpriced toy at the vets when I picked up the posh biccies, it's a big stick with feathers on the end, well did Keira not insist on using it and did her and that kitten not have tug of war around the house and he ripped half of the bunch of feathers off! The evil sod, only had it 5minutes!! Keira kept holding it in the air and running around and he jumped 4foot in the air, somesaulted over her and landed on her head. Cue lots of crying.....Oh dear.

Carla - it's when you life bubs out of wherever they're sleeping and either either get them to latch on or take a bottle, encourages bubs to sleep longer as their tummies are fuller for a bit longer so mummies can get some sleep.

I did it with my DD, after a few weeks she started waking up in time for the dream feed.

I'm just about to go upstairs and get DD to do a dream wee! Trying her again without a nappy overnight.

    Hi everyone,

Not really managed to keep up with this thread yet, but been reading bits and bobs when I get a spare minute. Hoping to have more time next week when DH is back at work, but seem to have more visitors lined up every day, so not sure how it’s going to work!

Holly is 3 weeks old tomorrow. She really has been a dream baby so far. She only cries when she wants fed or her nappy changed, and even then it’s not much. Not sure if this is normal and it’s going to get worse, but fingers crossed she will remain so sweet!

Kind of dreading DH going back to work and being left on my own, but looking forward to the challenge at the same time. I am quite shocked to read how little some men seem to get involved, and I count myself really lucky as DH has been very hands on, but at the same time, I think he has been a bit too involved and I have felt a bit sidelined and lacking in confidence as he has taken control of everything. I know his intentions are to make my life easier whilst he is on leave, but it’s really left me feeling a bit useless. I have explained this to him though, and things have gotten better. The baby blues really kicked in about day 2, and I think I cried every day for 2 weeks. I am still having slight bouts of it now, but not as bad. I think it was mainly being run down/exhausted/traumatised by the birth and aftermath, and just feeling useless and unknowledgeable. Still not feeling myself mind you.

Went shopping today and treated myself to 2 new pairs of jeans as none of my old ones fit me yet. Need to start doing my abdominal exercises to reduce the jelly belly! I left Holly with DH so that I could quickly nip round a few shops as it will be my last chance to do so on my own. Thought it would be nice for them to spend some time together too, but all she did was sleep!!

Anyway, just wanted to pop in with a wee update and say hello. Sorry I don’t have much to contribute at the moment, but I am lurking when I can.

  • dream wee? I love it!!

We have all this to come ;)

Off to bed for me, before I have to get up again in the night. The guy downstairs is having a disco though, so not sure how much sleep I will manage. (It's not THAT loud, but I need it quiet for me to sleep... at my parents you can't hear anything at all except for the occasional owl, so I'm really not cut out for living in a flat!)

    night all!

  • Good evening everyone. Just wanted to introduce myself as I have been lurking a little for a while now. Recognise quite a few names from the preg thread which I'm currently on as I'm due with my first in February.

    Anyway hello! :hello:

And thanks to emlou for the golden syrup cake recipe!! Just made it and it was very good, although I'll admit to adding extra syrup once I dished it up as I like a lot of sauce!!

Hi Sarah Joanne!! You have bl00dy ages to go yet!! How on earth are you managing to keep up with us and the preg thread (although I know the preg thread is quieter now the noisy ones have given birth ;))
Hope all is going well for you. MFD xx

It is so strange that nobody on the preg thead will know me now because I was giving birth as they were joining...well that is other than the weezl, maz, agutka - doing it again types!

Which reminds me Weezl or anybody - is there a scientific reason why food should be blitzed in the food processor whilst it is hot? I have in my head that the molecular structure of food changes as it cools so it needs to be blended before it goes cold...am I making it up?
    Congrats Agutka BTW!!

Teacakes count for lunch if you have three with jam and cheese! :p:D

How quickly do ice cubes of butternut squash puree defrost?!

    JAM AND CHEESE TOGETHER???? !!!!!

    I don't understand the ice-cube stuff

If anyone is tempted by the harlequin squash that is currently £1 in Morrisons don't bother it is really stringy...too stringy for my son :(
Or maybe it is because I let it go cold

Jillie and Maz and anybody else with lazy a$$ husbands - my 9 year old step son changes wet nappies all the time...he actually asks me to check if there is a poo there so he can change it if there isn't.

    Hiya Fitzio,

Congrats on the birth of Holly. Seems as though you're having a great start. Don't worry about your jelly belly just yet...you've got a lot on your plate. Just enjoy Holly and your new little family.
