I was out this morning for work in a city centre and arrived too early for a job so popped into the Tesco Metro. Had a points voucher from the Wine Club that needed using up and I needed a few bits of groceries. The checkout lady felt my bottle of wine and noted it wasn't chilled and said they had some in a fridge if I wanted a cold one to drink now. It was 9.30am in the morning

I was wearing smart jeans, heeled boots, pink fitted blouse and a black chunky knit cardy and thought I looked reasonably tidy and not like an alcho. I was quite offended but not sure if I'm over reacting or not

:rotfl::rotfl: I would have laughed and asked her if working in Tesco was so bad that she was thinking about having a drink at 9.30am!!

Benjamin is much less clingy this afternoon, which I think is mostly down to a longer nap but I did stay in bed with him so I could shush him back to sleep when he stirred  I might have to do this for a while and see if that prompts him to sleep longer in the afternoon by himself. Life is certainly a lot easier when the baby doesn't scream his head off the moment you turn your back (even if I am sat next to him!!!)

I am doing roast pork tonight - yummy!!

i found that with the hours thing though jillie, this one says she is 8am-6pm but she said a few extra minutes wouldnt bother her at all, cos her daily rate is £35 but that is for 8am-6pm, and cos i dont start work til 9.30 and so wont need to drop seth off til about 9am she doesnt mind me getting a few extra minutes at the other end of the day for my moneys worth :)

can you not look for one closer to your work than your home?

the main prob is i dont quite know yet where i will be working. before i went on ML, i was working with hubby, basically doing the same shifts...

    mon- 2-10pm
    tues- 10-6pm
    wed- off
    thurs- 10-6pm
    fri- 2-10pm
    sat- 10-6pm
    sun- off

DH would prefer if i worked closer to home (cant drive) so if Kian needed picking up cos he was ill, or other emergency, i could go... if we both worked together, we would both have to go and while the 1st time might be ok with the mangers, the next time it prob wouldnt. which means DH would go leaving me at work.
also the manager has already hinted quite strongly at the other branches that would be 'so handy for you...only few mins walk from your house' etc... but this also depends on whether or not these branches have any vacancies.

we hope that wherever i work (3days). wed will be one of the days, cant do sats as DH works and mil/fil work full time mon-fri so need their day off on sat. so cant ask them to mind Kian. there are not really any other family members able to look after Kian on a sat either. and as sat is one of the busiest days in a travel agents (especially trafford centre) i'll be lucky to get a branch to let me work 3 days mon-fri. mil has said the odd sat would be ok but not every week, which helps a little.

yeah I sometimes get the indian ones in ASDA but prefer the £6.50 meals off the curry bar 2 x curries, 2 x rice, 2 naan & 2 small snacks, I bulk it out with another £1's worth of snacks.

loads more in that meal than the Tesco £9 one
Yummy and another good Idea finstead of very expensive takeaway

Becles - I would ahve bene a bit offended too, but perhaps she hadn't realised how early it was and was just trying to be nice?!

ideally.. .we would both stay at trafford centre and i would work tues, wed and thurs doing same shift as OH. OH would take and collect me on the wed( himself having Kian) so just 2 days nursery/cm. mil/fil would then pick kian up and have him till we get home. this is where i really want to work. if this cant be accomdated by the branch (quite likely) i will have to look closer to home. main prob is officially i cant finalise anything till 4 weeks before i'm meant to start back, which doest help matters. i could prob 'unofficially' sort it earlier if i push it.

Well just found out the owners of the flat don't even have permission to rent the flat out, things are going to the solicitors now and will go to court if the owner can't be tracked down first.
:T Excellent news! Hopefully you may be rid of them soon! She sounds like a nightmare!

Nicki - How traumatic! Although I did find Sami's benny hill description funny!

Glam - Your OH sounds very much like mine! He doesn't notice that stuff needs doing unless I tell him, so I leave a list on the kitchen notice board of big stuff I need him to do. With little things I give him the choice - like, do you want to feed Violet or start our tea, etc etc. Sounds silly but it works!
He's another who's Mum pampered him (and still does!) I mean, which Mum buys their 29 year old son, who's about to have a new baby, a new Xbox for christmas?
His dad does absolutely nothing at home, and his two younger brothers still live at home (26) and it doesn't look like they'll be leaving anytime soon! And she works full time!
