But he's still only tiny glam, in a few weeks he'll be a lot better at tollerating sitting in his chair a while or lying on the mat... At the moment he's probably still a little bewildered and wondering where all the amniotic fluid went...

here's hoping! I dont like to wish his life away but it will be good when he starts taking an interest in things. OH and I often wonder if he gets bored just lying around not doing much

Aw, he's whimpering in his sleep - it's so cute! God, I love being a Mum!!

I do know what you mean, Glam. Which reminds me, I must order the Bumbo tray - I got a highchair toy to stick on it for Rhys to bash to give him something to do. He's still mastering gripping/holding things, made all the more difficult by still having dinky hands

    Night night all xx

    ETA:
OH just brought Rhys through, still fast asleep on his shoulder. He asked what to do with him (as he's still dressed and will probably want feeding soon), but I said to put him in his crib for now and we'd see what happened... At which point Rhys spat his dummy out and, with his eyes still shut, gave us the bigger "You've got to be joking!" grin ever.. Awww *melts* :D

Krystal, question for the morning, how much skin-to-skin contact is needed to build up milk supply? I don't know if I'm asking it right, but I mean is it something you need to do for a long time (say in 3hr stretches) over a few days or for shorter periods over a week or two for it to make a difference? Any idea if there's any research on it? :o I've been contemplating the whole "going to bed with baby for 24hrs" thing, but we just can't do it for a solid 24hr period cos too many appointments get in the way, plus I also have to think about getting out of bed every few hours to express for 30-45mins at a time so it doesn't seem worth it in my head cos it's so disjointed.. Thanks heaps x

We've got some of those - they seem to keep their shape better than the silicone travel bibs.

Elle, I'll look for studies this afternoon when I'm home, is ok if I copy your question onto the email list of über experienced breastfeeding peeps I'm on?

Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

  • Morning all. As normal I've not caught up. But I'm back on my "days off" for a bit.... just singing at the library, coffee and sandwiches with the other mummies and all the housework in the world to keep me busy ;) (Oh, and a baby to look after too ;) )

With a bit of luck, Rhys will be 8lb 9oz tomorrow! :D Need to wangle getting him weighed when we go for bloods. 1030am appointment, not so bad :)

Woohoo - I've been waiting for this "beating Izzy's birthweight" milestone. :j I'm hoping for 18lb 4oz today (going on the 1oz a week we've been managing recently), but we will see. I have totally surprised myself by not having any questions to ask at clinic today, but at least it means we can go to the self service table rather than having to queue for a nurse/hv.

Oh, I'm off to do my first aid refresher course Monday and Tuesday next week instead of going into work. This is good because I don't have to go all the way to work (30 miles+), just into town and because refreshing my first aid knowledge is generally a good plan. But bad because I would have been going to a job interview on Tuesday otherwise. But never mind. I've found another job to apply for which has an almost identical job description, so I can pretty much copy and paste the little essay bit of the form, with just a few paragraphs changed, so I should be able to bang that out today/tomorrow.

At the minute we are on Enfamil anti reflux which is widely used in the US, but only on prescription here as far as I know.
Will keep a note of that in his food diary though, and see what they say

    Thanks hun :)

I can at last say Elliot has almost outgrown his reflux now, so there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Yes a week, even a day is a long time for a baby. It also seems a lifetime when you're having a bad reflux day and you just seem to be covered in sick non-stop and changing clothes etc. It stressed me out big time, put me off going out and made me paranoid everyone was staring when he puked.

We didn't get much help at all, were only allowed Gaviscon and even after ending up at A+E we were fobbed off as he wasn't loosing weight (god knows how he wasn't the amount that kept coming up!).

I would say go back to your gp, and tell them they must see your baby again and get something that works. By the time we got referred to a paediatrician he partly improved, so again got told the gaviscon is enough.

He's now 12 months, and still has the occasional sick up, but at 6 months we saw a big improvement then only recently i stopped the gaviscon all together.

None of my friends or familiy's babys have had reflux, so i found it hard with no one to properly talk to. Forums like this are a god send! :)

I'll be watching for the answer to this too, as I'm wondering if my milk supply will increase when I have Andrew home and can cuddle him for much longer.

Elle, can you not express in bed? If you get the pillows / angle right, and if you have a coolbag next to the bed to put the bottles into? Might be fun trying to juggle a sleeping baby on your chest and the pumping kit, mind you!

    Morning everyone.

Lovely pic of your OH sami, made lol. OH tends to come home with sticky notes on his back or trousers with the usual lad jokes on them  or the ones saying "IM DAVE" he's not actually called that but he has a weird name that half the world seem to mispronounce either on purpose or because they can't be bothered learning to say it right!

Got the doctors in an hour, I look a right state aswell, ain't even straightened my hair (which is another issue cause they keep cutting out, stupid loose wire!) maybe dog rough, big underbag eyes will help in my favour.

I worked out I walked almost 5miles yesterday, I feel like my lower half has been run over with a truck this morning.

I've also figured out, we have £190, to last us 2weeks, without going below £500 in the bank (last month it went down too £250!) so if I can manage that then OH can shut his pie cause we'd of gained £250 in savings!

So let's say £100 a week from today. I feel quite scared about this!

It's my birthday next Sunday too, but I don't want anything, knowing OH he will get me something, lets hope it's not another £70 jewellery box that you can only fit 2 rings (I don't even wear rings) and a bracelet in! Most pointless gift ever that was, he could of at least checked the dimensions of the thing, you can't even fit a necklace in it. Still better than what he got me for my 21st, nothing! Not even a card, I was well mad, plus we were loaded(ish) back then, we had at least £500 pm more than now and couldn't even buy me a card, and yet I had queued not long before that in Asda from stupid of clock to get him a game that was released at midnight cause he had a "cough"
