Susan, I have a jam thermometer, but I mostly use it for toffee and fudge cos I find it harder to tell 'hard crack' from 'soft crack' else.
I don't like toffee and fudge so I've never tried to make them.

Do babies start gaining more weight quicker with solids? Nurse asked what milk he was on, then said that she didn't think they'd change that yet. Surely they wouldn't suggest switching to formula(?!) so I assume she meant weaning but not yet
I think they gain weight most quickly early on and then it slows down. I think Alice gained roughly twice as much the first six months as the second.
Right I have just got an email from the girl I bought the sleeping bags off saying that the £2 p&p was not enough, and can I pay an extra £2.45 to her paypal account
    What would you do??
    I wouldn't pay extra.

Guess who was in ASDA at 3.30am?
    12am - bed
2.15am - OH wakes me to say he's got a bad cough and can't sleep, then gets sh1tty with me cos we've got no cough medicine. I offered to buy some Monday but he said no!
2.45am - Jack wakes for feed
3.30am - go to see OH who says I don't care about him anymore
3.45am - ASDA to buy medicine and all of a sudden OH thinks I'm wonderful - which of course I am!
    4.15am - back to bed
5.30am - Jack wakes for feed and won't settle
He's lucky. I might consider it under normal circumstances but I wouldn't have done it when Alice was three weeks old.

I was talking to her the other day, and turns out I'd never mentioned liking babies or wanting to be a Mum. They all assumed that as we'd been married almost 4 years with no babies, that we didn't want them!
That's really weird considering you were younger than average when you got married.

susan the toffee and fudge are really useful as :money:christmas pressies. Last year I did white choc and cherry fudge and dark choc with orange zest.

It's a good idea but my family don't eat that kind of stuff and between allergys, fillings etc. there'd only be one potential person on OH's side. I also try to avoid giving people sweets as presents as I don't want to encourage them to give that kind of thing to me.

Good point! Homemade chutneys, cashew butter or sun-dried tomato houmous?
