Hallo!
We have been having adventures today
out at 10 this morning to go to mum and baby/toddler coffee morning, 15 mins walk away. Back via cup of tea at one of the mum's house-very nice
Realised was cutting it a bit fine for the sling meet, so rushed in, made up a bottle and grabbed 2 slices of cold pizza to eat on route. Walked to sling meet. Met JHA
Lovely. Hungry baby. Looked for the milk I'd made up. Realised it was on the kitchen table:eek:. OK so I'm an hours walk or 2 buses (also an hour) from home:o.
Fortunately I still had his earlier bottle with me, so asked the cafe if I could just buy a bottle full of full fat cow's milk
don't tell 'them' please?! But it seemed to do the job. Anyhow, at 5, realised I was a bit tired and texted DH to see if he could give us a lift, but my phone battery died
so had to do the whole hour back! Fergie coped brilliantly with all this activity and shennanigans, but I'm absolutely wacked!
He had a little poo at the sling meet, and then did poo the size of his whole head when back at home- I kid you not!(not as wide on coming out, but that size if you put it all together IYSWIM?) Which just shows how long it hangs around for, even with double dose lactulose.
:D
Just hoovered up a tandoori mixed grill now, so much happier
Hope you've all had great days too.
Love Weezl x

SM, what does the baby bit look like then? If it keeps him snug and cosy, I'd leave it in as long as possible!

He's having solids now isn't he and it's not like he's a newborn baby or anything so wouldn't have thought it would do him any harm. (And they are allowed to have cows milk in cooking at this age anyway.)Fortunately I still had his earlier bottle with me, so asked the cafe if I could just buy a bottle full of full fat cow's milk

I'm sure you're right :A and it was just a one-off, but I was thinking of this kind of advice from Kellymom:The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends NO cow's milk until after the first birthday.
Cow's milk is more specific to a baby cow than a baby human. Cow's milk formula is based on cow's milk but has been engineered to be closer to human milk (still a ways off, but closer). Many infants still have problems with cow's milk formula (allergies, GI problems, etc.). Babies who are exposed to cow's milk before their first birthday are more likely to be anemic, have diarrhea or vomiting, and/or experience an allergic reaction (the proteins in milk are more numerous than those in other milk products, such as the yogurt). The excessive protein load in cow's milk can also overload a baby's kidneys. It is deficient in vitamins C, E, and copper. It is harder to digest as well, often causing intestinal blood loss. A number of studies have also indicated that early introduction of cow's milk may contribute to the development of Insulin-Dependent Diabetes Mellitus.
Others see no problem with starting cow's milk toward the end of the first year unless there is a family history of allergy to it. Dr. Jack Newman, a renowned expert in the lactation field, is one of these. See the Breastmilk, cow's milk, formula, outside work and bottles section of his article "Breastfeeding and Other Foods."

Also anaemia would have to be the result of a lot of cows milk rather than a one off occasion and I imagine the studies were probably looking at a higher consumption level than a one off bottle.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5
