SB i *think* berber carpet is supposed to be the most hard wearing as the pile isnt cut IYSWIM, its like loops? thats what we've had in both of our rented places and it still looked as good as new in the place we moved out of, its been in our current house for 2-3 years and still looks good as new here too. which is nothing short of a miracle cos its cream!! the kitchen has older carpet and we've absolutely battered that and not just in the food prep area, it looks minging next to the other one which we've treated no differently :)

but the carpet people will know more if you ask them!

Thanks, em, I have heard of that so will keep a look out! I was wondering about what pile would be recommended due to having Henry and his claws . I guess your cats ok with it?

    OK, def not beige! :D

Going to have a look this afternoon and probably stick with laminate when I see the quote! :rotfl:

I'd avoid the big chains too, I melted the carpet at mums with the iron :o we claimed on the insurance because it was the massive lounge. The insurance came to asses the quality and told us to pick any one from x chain that was upto say £4.99 per sq m we found the exact carpet we had but it was £6.99 per sq m (and we hadn't paid as much as either at our local independent place!!)

ps there is some kind of rating they give carpets to say how hard wearing they are but I can't think what it's called

all good, he doesnt scratch it and he doesnt accidently pull it with his claws when he runs around either. the sofa however is a different story...!

it stays cleaner too cos crumbs and bits dont get in the pile! same with cat litter _pale_

Yay! Got paid for the swing so I have now ordered my new pump

Had a panic this morning, looked at the calendar and Ambers jags were at 10.30am. So I had to go and get her dressed. I'd left DH in bed and left Amber in her sleepsuit because she was sound after all the eating she did last night and having emptied both boobies when I woke her at 7.30am. So got her dressed which woke her up and then realised that today is Thursday not Friday doh! She was then cranky all the way to nursery and only fell asleep when we stopped to see nana and papa at the shop.
