I'm going to stick to sequential pumping for now - although it produces less, surely it's better preparation for when breastfeeding? But I think I need to find a better technique for massage, as my output has decreased slightly this last week.

    Anyway, onto my (Andrew's) news :j :j :j Another 5 ounces in 4 days :j :j :j

That's him now 2lb 13.5oz ..... going to have to stop the spinach, he's turning into Popeye!

oh bruno! Hugs for police cars and bumps on heads :(

Hmmmn none of the cute outfit worked! D'oh.

Can I substitute with another developmental stage: failing to understand which is the correct end of the weaning gadget to suck the prunes out of:

Awww weezl, he's gorgeous! :D Once he'd figured it out, did the prunes have the desired effect? :o

He has prunes everyday, but even those and a double dose of lactulose still has him impacted and pooing every 5 days! Still, we're due to review soon with the GP.

    He hasn't bled again tho.

Speaking of which, has MFD given news of benjamin's bottie recently?

And emlou, is sethy pooing ok?

The early march babies and their bottie woes eh?!

elle, sounds like you don't want to go down the milk fortifier as formula route. Hope all the other options work out for you.

Do the doctors think that you and rhys will just 'click' one day with BF or is it pretty much EMB/FF til weaning as the options for you both?

Rhys can BF now, although he is still the exception to the rule of a baby being more efficient than a pump! We do BF for the middle of the night feed but sometimes if he's not awake enough, it is wiser to give him a bottle as he then gets more quicker from it and will settle quicker afterwards, and at least then I know he's had enough.

Because he's more efficient with a bottle and has to have increased fluids to wash the calcium out of his kidneys, I'm reluctant to even attempt to switch to more BF'ing because we wouldn't know how much he's getting and it would also take longer. I don't mean that from a selfish, "my time is precious" way, just that using a bottle satisfies his hunger quicker - he cries so hard and loud that he sounds in pain when hungry that I just want to get him fed as quick as possible so he's not suffering longer iyswim.

All that, plus having to have at least some expressed milk to add his medication to six times a day, leaves me thinking it's expressing until he's a year old at least - then hope that his kidneys can cope with cows milk (don't even want to think about what'll happen if they can't - not looking into it for now!) and then I'll stop expressing. I know it'd be better for him to have EBM endlessly but for the sake of my sanity (and boobs!) and with going back to work, I think that'll be it. All assuming of course I can continue that long

I've nothing against formula for most healthy babies, it's my issues with the guilt and feeling like I've let him down by not carrying him to 40wks that make me want to continue to feed him myself and not want to use formula until I absolutely have to :(

Ah right. Thanks elle, sorry I hadn't realised the middle night was a BF! D'oh.

Yes that all sounds good thinking.

Returning to work is a really normal weaning from BF interval from people I've spoken to.
Although I don't feel that you've ever let Rhys down. But I think you know that's something your friends don't agree with you about!:p:) Although I definately get the have I let him down feeling myself about Fergie.
