I find when you are pregnant that your body takes over and you find yourself eating things you wouldn't normally.

I'm not big on fruit but when pregnant find that I really like fruit juice, same with breakfast, ordinarily I can't eat early in the day, when pregnant I'm hungry first thing.

I've never had any cravings in either pregnancy but have gone right off garlic in both (to the extent that I threw up when I ate garlic sausage in my first pregnancy)

Feelie I really hope things go ok for you today, do you think you would be better seeing the doc on your own? You could go again alone if you think you need to? Re the talk yesterday about your relationship, have you managed to resolve the issues around Toby's conception? What was your relationship like before Toby, was it the same/similar to a less degree? I agree with the others that he does sound quite controlling but then to be fair we are only getting your side of it.

Cas really glad to hear the kids are settling in well, and really Abi is doing brilliantly going to a new nursery when you think its not that long ago she wouldn't go at all!

Remembering all the sterilising/cleaning/making bottles up is why I'm still breastfeeding even though I think I do think often about giving up.

MFD Benjamin always does seem to be doing things that Eloise wouldn't dream of yet he must be very advanced (or have a very encouraging and more patient than me mummy) although I did get her to commando crawl about a foot this morning so we might be getting there.

Millie is still ill although she says she feels a little better her temp is down to 38.4 which is still really high. Had an awful night, millie in with me, like sleeping in an oven, kept waking up/snoring/snorting/coughing and Ello decided to wake 4 times as well, OH had a great nights sleep up in Millie's attic where he didn't hear a thing.

That turned into an essay, sorry!

    Hi Bails,

Sorry about the delay in getting back to your pm :o

    Congrats on your engagement :)

a quick summary of what I know so far.

Calcium and iron are especially required in the formation of a healthy foetus. If mum is depleted or doesn't eat enough of those, the body will continue to give those minerals to the foetus at the expense of the mother. This will happen until the mother's body begins to shut down on vital functions, at which point the body is more likely to reject the foetus.

Of particular concern are mum's who have a less than 6 month window between childbirth/miscarriage and a second conception. If the mum is depleted in iron her body mightn't be able to form healthy placental tissue. This means the chances of prematurity increase by 4 times with a small gap between pregnancies. Also the baby can be more unwell, or of low birth weight.

A diet low in carbohydrate has been shown to increase chances of Inter-Uterine Growth Retardation.

A diet too high in Vitamin A in the first trimester leads to cranial-neural crest deformities.

Folic acid, much has been written about so I'm sure you know ;)

Brain development in Trimester 3 is aided by a diet high in omega 3 and 6.

Maternal dehydration can lead to insufficient amniotic fluid, or foetal dehydration which can damage the forming kidneys. It can also slow or stop labour.

I'll keep thinking and get back to you!

    Weezl the geek :) xxx

All that stuff is really interesting. Seems like you should be avoiding certain foods at some part of the pregnancy and indulging the rest.

I wonder if people who follow atkins or similar when pregnant have a higher rate of the uterine retardation, well they must if low carbs is the culprit. All very interesting.....

I bought a pregnancy test (a cheap one) as I've not had a period in over a month and a half? Something like that, I really can't remember, I just know I should of had one, as they went crazy during and after the implant came out.

It showed 1 and a half pink lines. What the hell does that mean?

First thing I thought of was - is it true?!

Joshua used to make things up and I've no idea why. He once told a tale of how they'd gone outside to play at nursery but he'd got locked in the cloakroom. He claimed he was banging on the door and crying but couldn't get the teachers attention and missed the outdoor play session.

I went and spoke to the teacher the next day and it wasn't true at all. She could remember him being outside as his friend slipped getting on one of those ride on cars and bumped his knees, so Joshua sat on the bench with him and cuddled him till he felt better and she could remember thinking how cute they looked.

I later asked him if Mark's knees were ok and he told me all about the fall and cuddling him on the bench. When I said I thought he was locked in the cloakroom, he had no idea what I was talking about

Do have a word though as it will put your mind at rest. At our school we have to fill in a general form at the beginning of each year for permission to go off the school grounds for short periods of the day, but we usually get a slip home a couple of days before saying they're going to the woods to look at trees on Wednesday afternoon or whatever.

Oh yeah I totally am not taking her word for 100% fact, I know they can make things up intentionally or not. She goes on about dreams she's had like it's real life!

I will enquire with the nursery teacher though, she said it was "brown money" so it was probably a minging old copper she found and gave to her friend.

Best just to bring it up though, and obv I know it's probs only half truths.

She's going to sound out my temp cover lady on how she feels about a job share when I come back. Bless her (my temp), she sounds like she still definitely thinks of it as "Lynsey's job" and she won't change anything on the noticeboard in OUR office because she thinks of it as mine :o

Yay for potential nice job share pal :)

Will Rhys be with your folks when you go back, or haven't you thought about all that yet? :p

Sami, why doesn't one of us start the new one, like Bailey did with the original. I know we can't close this one but we could write in big letters as the last post that we've moved!!!

Re lactulose, I rang the surgery again and got an appt today. Our GP has slots you can book in advance, but not for ages, or same day slots but you have to sit on hold from half 8 to get one. So I just sat on hold :)

I changed to Aptamil Hungry baby a couple of weeks ago. Alex still seems to want feeding every two hours thou. I only make up 4 oz, some times he drinks it all, if he's actually gone 3-4 hours, other times, he still only does 2 oz. The good thing about it is that he seems to acutally keep it down, instead of projectile vomiting it back up, like he did with the Aptamil 1 and Easy digest.

Also, with the Easy digest the little booklet says to use no. 2 teats as its thicker, Jack may be just getting tired and falling asleep, because he has to work too hard to get the milk out, if you are using no.1 teats. - Just a thought.

Its a nightmare isn't it. I feel like i am permenantly feeding and sterelising bottles and nothing else. Alex is at my mums today and Joe (DS1) is at Half term soccer camp. I am supposed to be doing some work for work, to get some more cash. Really need to get motivated. Doing my boss's expenses is not really my idea of fun:rolleyes:

    Been using vari-flow teats - he finished last bottle @ 9.50am & wanted another @ 11am - had 50ml do far!
Think I'll get some No.2's as he is asleep now
