What romantic things does your OH do for you?

Not long after we first moved in together, I had a horrible cough, one of those that gets you as soon as you lie down, and you just can't sleep for coughing. My OH has an hour and a half drive to work each day, so I really didn't want to disturb him. At about two in the morning I just couldn't control the coughing and was getting out of bed to go and lie on the sofa. OH woke up, and when I told him what I was doing, he wouldn't hear of it. Instead, he sat up in bed with me, and just held me until I fell back to sleep. I don't think I had ever felt so loved.
Another thing he does every day, when he dishes out dinner (he does the cooking) he ALWAYS gives me the best helpings, ie the nicest piece of meat or whatever it might be. Might not sound like much, but he LOVES his food!!0 -
Me and my OH take it in sort of turns to do what we call 'wenching' i.e. running around after each other for a day or two - it seems to work out pretty well so we both feel like we are being treated

Also when I was unwell for a little while he would ring me and message me all the time and spent quite a few weekends looking after me while I was collapsed in bed...
Hes very sweet and always asks for cuddles and fishes for compliments - I think its very romantic that he wants to be loved by me (and luckily I feel the same)...
I like this thread a lot

Lovely thread! OH would say he's not romantic in that he doesn't really do the sending flowers/ writing poetry stuff- thank God for that lol! The things that he does that I think are romantic are the little things that show he thinks about me and he cares- washing my clothes, keeping our flat clean, learning to cook. When he buys me presents they're always things he knows I'll love, and things that no one else in the world would know me well enough to choose for me. Every now and again he'll play me a song I haven't heard before and say that it reminded him of me... they're mostly love songs lol!!!
I adore him and I only hope that the little things I try and do for him make him feel as happy and cherished as he makes me feel.Don't suffer alone - if you are experiencing Domestic Abuse contact the National Domestic Abuse Helplines

i love this thread,
my boyfriend dosen't do flowers, (he says they eventually die, so waste of money), but he has bought me cuddly toys, which i love, and is always giving me lots hugs, we always hold hands, he proudly introduces me to all his friends, and work mates.
when i was particularly down and had self harmed, he looked after my cuts,, and held me in his arms for hours, despite the fact that he had to be up at 4am the next day.
for him, i give him lots hugs too, and i've knitted him warm hats to keep him warm at work in the winter, and make him lovely home made mealsenjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)0 -
DH broke his back to get our downstairs gutted and replastered, decorated and carpeted in 6 weeks last year so that it was done for DD's birthday.
Despite us all having flu just before Christmas, he struggled out of the house and took DD (the one who got better first) to go and get a tree and her tree decoration. He also got my pressie.
He overcame his aversion to buying reduced foods and now is one of the best whoopsie hunters around.
Takes the kids out all day when I'm in bed after nights.
Lets me go to London for the food show every year with no complaints.
Takes the kids to get their school shoes when I've lost the will to live with trying to find them.
Cleans and tidies the house at the weekend if I'm in bed.
Buys me chocolate or cake when he goes to get wine on a Friday night.
Always asks me if there is anything I need when he goes shopping.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
I do things for him quite often, little things like pick him up a pie he likes in town, replace his toiletries before they run out etc, put his beer in the freezer so its cold how he likes it. But he doesn't do stuff like that for me anymore, he did used to, infact he took me to Nice for my birthday when we first got together, so I'm not sure when it stopped.
In fact, and this is going to sound terrible, but I give him a hug sometimes when he gets in from work and he doesnt really want me to, I suppose I've just got used to it, god how depressing my life is lol!£100 - £10,0000 -
Our bedroom is in the converted loft and despite a ton of insulation, the room is freezing in winter. Before my parents bought us an electric blanket a few years ago, Mr Bear would go to bed first and lie on my side of the bed to warm it up for me, before shifting over to his side. He hates the cold, so I think this is the most romantic, caring thing anyone has ever done for me.0

In answer to the question abtou whether we think we are romantic, I don't think I am in the flowers and chocs kind of way. I don't really do big gestures like that. But I do take lots of care over presents for example - at christmas I gave him a handemade (by me) box of 52 pieces of paper, each one of which had a reason on it why I loved him. Some silly, some deep. There was supposed to be one for each week of trhe year, so he could wake upa nd start the week with something nice. Daft old sod has no willpower and read them all at once of course, but I do think of that as oneo f my more romantic gestures.0

That love language book is fab - it made me realise that hubby shows love in a different way to me, and if I'm doing something romantic for him it will probably be something I wouldn't want! It's excellent - highly recommend it.0
